It really is an uphill battle for them. A whole generation has grown under the understanding that music is for free, so it is going to take a hell of a lot of reprogramming people's minds into the idea of paying for it. And this whole Hifi thing, people do not really care, how many can really tell the difference in sound using cheap earbuds? The pretentious presentation of Tidal did not help their cause either, as has been stated.
Here´s a link to a nice article I read yesterday about Tidal: http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/723-tidal-and-the-elusive-promise-of-streaming-music/. It basically agrees with what is being discussed here in this topic, but also agrees that the most important thing that Tidal offers is not the streaming itself, but the fact that it puts back into conversation the idea of art as a commodity and how it should be valued/purchased.

The paper faces vocal mix of Let it will be, Benny Benassi ix of Celebration, Nobody Knows me MDNA tour version, I´m addicted, Iconic, Sorry interlude mix from Confessions Tour... These are some of my gym staples and current faves!
-
If a Rebel song is next, the only one I can see being released is Iconic. Bitch I´m Madonna is polarizing, and the rest have either explicit lyrics or are not as good.
-
That photo reminded me of this... Cannot believe this woman has transcended what in pop years are millenia. True queen, indeed.

Madonna - Physical Attraction
Like a virgin - Into the Groove
True Blue - Open Your Heart
Like a Prayer - Express Yourself
Erotica - Deeper and Deeper
Bedtime Stories - Secret
Ray of Light - Swim
Music - I Deserve it
American Life - Nobody knows me
Confessions on a Dance Floor - Get together
Hard Candy - Beat Goes On
MDNA - Beautiful Killer
Rebel Heart - Living For Love
-
Definitely!
Iconic is the song that has grown on me the most since the release. I love it now!
-
Confessions and American Life are the two albums I never skip a track. Pure perfection!
I skip some Rebel Heart songs (the bitchy and silly songs)... But that still leaves 11 to 12 songs of perfection, the same amount as Confessions and American Life! So I would say it's a tie between these 3 albums!
Confessions + American Life + Rebel Heart = LIFE
I agree with this. If I get rid of the tracks I do not like from RH, a solid, 12-13 track record still remains, which is equivalent to COADF/AL/Music, my favorites. So I think RH is as solid as my favorites.

Major Lazer, duh.
Agreed!

^ Yeah, but she SAID it was because of the leak. Which is weird. I don't think it was one or the other. I'm sure the label encouraging her not to do a double album happened during the conversations about how to proceed after the leak. Maybe they were still deciding about that when it happened?
I agree on this. I think the leak caught them (Madonna and Interscope) off guard during the marketing/publicity talks and then they just scrapped whatever possible scenario was on the board and went with the quick, 6-songs release we had back in December.
I really liked this interview. Wish this one would´ve been longer, because the guy knows where Madonna comes from and has been following her career (apparently), so he focused more on RH and not Madonna the entertainer.
-
Holy Water is probably the "sex" song I mostly listen to, and one of my faves off the album as well. I love it, and can´t wait to see what she comes up with when performing it on tour.
-
^ I think this is what makes their show, really. I mean, aren´t we all like that in real life? We talk shit and then we act differently. I think Howard´s thing is just to provoke and see how far the artist is going to go if he just keeps pushing. Which is very much what Madonna´s about too, ha!
I loved the interview. I wish he would´ve gone a bit further with discussing other songs as well, and not just a handful (he talked about GT, DP, HW... am I missing another?).

And probably THE most popular song off this new album on social media, esp. with young people. They LOVE this song.
It's really only divisive within the fan community.
Maybe it is because for us fans she does not need to reaffirm who she is, because she is already awesome? Sigh! My problem with these kind of tracks is that the self-reference is too in-your-face, too obvious. The reason why I think the general public likes it is because in their heads Madonna is this reified individual, and to us fans, while she is the Queen, she is also someone we can relate to in a more "intimate" way, so to speak, in a more human-to-human kind of way, because there is an empathy with her persona, her music and her lyrics.
Besides, I bet half of those downloading the track are just too afraid of admitting they want to download a Madonna track, and having Miinaj´s name attached makes them feel good about themselves and their notion of what is "cool".
-
Is it me or the wine really helped her loosen up a bit? LOL
This was the most enjoyable of all the interviews so far. And her performances were awesome, though I agee that for GT she was a bit more confident (the wine, perhaps?).
-
Do you think he'll "remix" songs for the upcoming tour?
That is a really sweet idea. Yes, I hope so. A whole tour section with some reggae/Major Lazer style remixes would be great. Some classics remixed to fit into the style of Unapologetic Bitch, perhaps?
-
would LOVE to hear her do a new song that's a LIB/WTG 3.0 today! lol
Oh yes! Definitely. I thought with Diplo involved in RH that we were going to get something along those lines. Maybe for a future Major Lazer album? Would be super cool!!

I have a love/hate thing going on with WTG the song. I feel like that #1 was for La Isla Bonita, and WTG just rode on the heels of its success.
-
One of my faves! I know it would be a stretch to see it released as a single, so at least I hope she performs it on tour.

Hold Tight
Borrowed Time
Ghosttown
Wash All Over Me
Living For Love

Interesting. It seems, by listening to what appears to be "Swim" instrumental, that the water theme was already there on the demo tracks, and M picked up on it and developed the album around it.
-
She should film a video with that stunning red dress (... *hopes for Ghosttown*).

Phoenix would be my choice. Always is, since it is closer to my hometown than Mexico City.

LFL is a masterpiece, period!
It is refreshing after 7 years and 2 damn 1st singles to get a solo M track. And the fact that it sits perfectly among her classics makes it all better. Charts are clearly not a big deal, because if they had been a goal of hers, then she would've rushed video and promo in December, or had not released the song prior to the album in the first place. Plus, the video is a jewel.
