Yup and isn't Madonna already the oldest female artist to have a Billboard Hot 100 single with BIM?
If I'm not mistaken she has the record for oldest female artist to have a Top 10 too (Give me all your luvin´)
-
Taylor won't block Madonna from a #1 hit song in the US because there is like zero chances that Madonna will get another #1 there. Her best bet would be to get another top 10 hit (and extend her record) and that will be hard too.
Album is another story, but that can be managed more easily. Also there's no official date confirmation so she can move the release whenever she wants to avoid Taylor or any other artist.
-
She might have the first 2 singles videos ready to released in april and may and she keeps filming videos for the rest of the songs to be released with the album in June.

She needs to host AND perform SNL
Would be amazing but no chance for that to happen this year. Line-up for the final three shows:
May 4 Adam Sandler / Shawn Mendes
May 11 Emma Thompson / Unknown Musical Guest
May 18 Unknown Host (rumored to be Amy, Tina and/or Maya) / DJ KhaledShe can be the musical guest for the May 11th show (Mother's Day episode) but it seems rather unlikely.

Mike should have done around 6-7 songs and Mirwais another 5-6.
Billboard and Maluma's main producer will be there too.

The puzzle is complicated. Madame X. 12 images. 12 songs (in the standard version of the album), 12 videos.
I really think this is it.
-
Madonna Albums (standard editions)
- Madonna - 8 songs
- Like a Virgin - 9 songs
- True Blue - 9 songs
- Like a Prayer - 11 songs
- Erotica - 14 songs
- Bedtime Stories - 11 songs
- Ray of Light - 13 songs
- Music - 10 songs
- American Life - 11 songs
- COADF - 12 songs
- Hard Candy - 12 songs
- MDNA - 12 songs
- Rebel Heart - 14 songs
Into context 10 songs is not that short with her album discography and like some mentioned, I prefer 10 amazing songs + 10 amazing videos rather than a Rebel Heart type of album.
She can released all the extra songs she recorded in several differen ways (another album, stand alone tracks, soundtracks, mixtape, etc)
-
It seems that we are about to get more videos in this era than the last 2 combined, so who cares if one features the twins?
Also, people who attack children are just horrible people. Just saying...
-
I would die if she did something with Daft Punk. Don't care if it's a new song, remix or mash up, they are fucking amazing (and she has wanted to work with them since the late 90's)
-
Surprised that we didn't get any kind of info after the video filmed in LA with that many extras.

Amazing video. Only tiny thing that bothers me is when the female dancer loses her hat.

Yes 4 Minutes was a huge hit but it also sounded like a Justin song. Some fans don’t CARE for chart success while others DO. This stupid debate must stop. At the end of the day she will do what she wants and we have to deal with it.
what kind of crazy username is that btw..eeek
I want a quality single. Don't mind if it has a featuring or not. And I agreed about the chart success and how each of us has a different opinion.
About my username I'm a HUGE fan of the Beastie Boys. And my name is Guido. So there you have it
-
I want something fresh, fun, original and high quality for the first single. I don't mind featurings as much as other people. Last album had like 24 songs and only 3 had featurings. If you want your solo Madonna dose, you will have it.
And If I have to choose between a first single a la 4 minutes (monster hit) and Living for Love (flop), I would choose the 4 minutes type first single any day. It's not like Living for Love was a masterpiece and might be her weakest first single along GMAYL.

Love Sunflower, so Swae Lee is OK for me. He has a a very The Weeknd vibe which I really like.

This is the strongest reinvention she's done in a long time-
Yes! The biggest since Confessions. Getting great vibes from all of this.

May, 2019:
-
Billboard Music Awards (on NBC): Wednesday, May 1st at 8 PM EST
-
The 2019 Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place in Tel Aviv between the 14th and 18th of May
June, 2019:
-
MTV Movie Awards: Jun 15th at Barker Hangar, Santa Monica, CA
-
Glastonbury Festival: June 26th to 30that Worthy Farm, United Kingdom
-
World Pride, New York City celebration: Sunday, June 30 at 9:00 AM PDT
She should do all of this + SNL (host + musical guest duties)
-
-
Eurovision is great promo. She needs to do 2 new songs or 1 new song + La Isla Bonita
Still, she also needs something that impacts harder on North and South America (Eurovision is pretty irrelevantin those places although with Madonna there it will have some buzz).
Billboard awards on May 1st? SNL season finale? Something cooking on Netflix?

Technically 2016 wasn't 'nothing' because she was still on tour for RH and don't forget TOAC.
I thought about that. The tour ended in March 20. The reason I didn't include it was because S&S 2009 was a clear second leg (with a few months in between and some changes on the setlist) while Rebel Heart 2016 is just the continuation of the tour. It didn't renew interest because it was not something new.
-
Hard Candy to MDNA were 3 years and 11 months. In Between:
- 2009: Celebration compilation album and video + 2 new songs + 1 new video + extension of the S&S tour
- 2010: S&S Tour video and album
- 2011: W.E. Movie + New Song + leaked songs from MDNA + Truth or Dare lifestyle brand
We are going into 3 years and 11 months between Rebel Heart and the new release and I think we are going to pass the 4 years mark. In between:
- 2016: Nothing
- 2017: Rebel Heart Tour video and album + MDNA skin
- 2018: Nothing
In feels longer because we also had less releases from her to consume or talk about

I am sorry but do people in countries like Argentina, Mexico, Chile etc know who that Anitta chick is? She sounds like a strictly local Brazilian act.
Here in Argentina she is pretty well known (not huge). Much bigger than many american pop and rap acts like Cardi B, Post Malone and others.
Maluma is HUGE.

It's a great time for her to release something on Netflix (new documentary about the album and the past year) as part of the album marketing strategy.
The streaming platform is at its peak. Sandra Bullock's Bird Box was watched by a record 45 million accounts in a week, Roma is a potential Best Picture Oscar Winner, several hot series like Drag Race are currently releasing new episodes every week and artists like Taylor Swift are releasing material there too. Don't know about sales, but at least it will make a lot of people know she is releasing new material.
-
- First Week US 100K
- Total US 200K
- Firs Week WW 300K
- Total WW 1M-1.2M
I think with the style of music she is working and the artists she is collaborating, she has a great chance for a big WW album. Latin America and Europa will eat it and she is still big in those markets (especially South America).
USA will be an enigma but if RH can reach to almost 250K with no hits I think she can do pretty close the same with this album.
-
I'm all for a double album. It's been long awaited and it will help a lot her streaming numbers.
I still don't know why Rebel Heart wasn't a double album. Madonna wanted to do it, and they still released the super deluxe version which had 2 CDs and 23 songs. they only needed to add 5-7 more good songs (which they had from the leaked demos) for the perfect double album (and released a one CD version with the 14 best songs)

If any song is a new version of Back That Up, it should have a Pharell credit. So I think it was scrapped again.
