Someone should turn {{  She is dead now }}  into a meme asap.

Absolutely! The funniest moment to me! That and the baby announcement quip from M about Sir Ian.

Gorgeous! Wish we’d seen this moment — she might have been more comfortable that way.

Oh and yes, thanks to those who posted the clip of M introducing the show. So interesting in the still shot how the audience does seem just in utter awe of her!

It’s so strange seeing all these reactions compared to actually being there as I was. She was an absolute hoot!!!!!!!! And everyone loved it (so I thought) including Ian McKellen, she doing loads of and banter and being incredibly funny (and friendly!!!) even when the cameras weren’t looking.

.....its so strange how people find Graham Norton’s sarcastic humour so funny and then when Madonna plays off it she’s called “rude” and “bitchy”........it really f**ks me off! He’s laughing along too, I don’t get how anyone can see otherwise 🤷‍♂️

Oh, thanks for sharing this! Glad to know it was received well in person... suspected as much, but one does start to question whether all objectivity has been lost when all this negativity swirls about.

I just remembered, too, how pleasant she was interacting with that audience member off the cuff when she was explaining the theatre tour concept. (And how funny is it that Sir Ian’s similar upcoming performances were lauded, and yet everyone is scratching their heads about M! Double standards! No wonder she was questioning it and then jokingly claiming she did Shakespeare, too. Ha!)

  3. I think your analysis is fair and objective, @Herfaceremains ... always enjoy reading your posts. I do think there might be a few moments the uninitiated might find off-putting, simply because they fail to understand her humor. I think there were moments that balanced it out, too, though — when asked if she was nervous, she pretty quickly turned to Danny Boyle and involved him in the conversation, asking if it were not the same for him when he has a film being released. That shows some humility and awareness that others are in the room, too, and was less egocentric than she might be accused of. Even with Glastonbury and Pride — some might think it was M making it about herself — but, although it was sweet of Sheryl to invite her, it is a little preposterously presumptuous to think M isn’t busy with things on the heels of an album release and the lead-up to a tour. (Still, I’m glad Sheryl made the offer!)

By the way, little moment, I loved when Lily interjected, “Because I stole it!” when they were having a laugh about Graham’s “missing copy” of the vinyl (which Madonna revealed as a fake)... haha! I thought it was sweet that Lily was basically indicating she was a fan and wanted to get her hands on a copy of the new album!

Is this the fucking twilight zone? I don’t get the hysteria in thread AT ALL. She didn’t seem particularly out of the ordinary here. And who gives a fuck about Twitter? It’s overrun by twisted bots who get their cue to flip out with fake outrage at every major Madonna appearance.

Re: this idiotic tweet, she did say one of her eyes is weaker and wearing the patch helps to strengthen the weaker eye. Can’t even believe people get outraged, but that’s nothing new, I guess.

And...funny how Sheryl was dressed yesterday 😂

I know! I was thinking last night the outfit/styling for Sheryl Crow could have been a little bit like Music-era M (T-shirts and pants like that).

Sheryl started to say something about Paris fashion week or something, so that might have been later than the baby shower or Music release party. (I guess that photo was Music release, but in one of those photos with Gwen Stefani and Sheryl Crow, M was holding a baby outfit, no?)

  6. I liked that he didn’t quite ask “why the eyepatch?” but she supplied an additional bit of explanation that I thought was really thoughtful: “She’s wounded,” she said. So that is literal but also a metaphor, I think. (Elsewhere, when talking about the paradox/tightrope of fierce/vulnerable, desire/detachment, warrior/OPEN WOUND, she described herseld as wounded, too.)

She also offered this, which may be a bit of jest: “She sleeps with one eye open, and she looks with one eye shut...”

So it seems she really does have her reasons for doing things. It is fashion, and it helps as a symbol of this era.

Yes!! That's the real news of this interview. Sounds like some heavy focus is going to be put on the musical aspect of the show!!

The Casio has been put back into the closet! 🙂

Yes! I’m hopeful the piano player from Lisbon (I think he played for the Met Gala, and I suspect perhaps it is he who played on Dark Ballet, too?) will be one of the musicians joining her... And is it too much to hope for the live horns, too? Could be used on Future and on Come Alive! Not to mention back catalogue (VOGUE) — and your MAGNIFICENT suggestion, @Kurt420, for her to do the more original album arrangement of Express Yourself! :wow:

I saw no problems with the interview? I think it was in keeping with the style of the show — mixing it up between folks. Yes, her corset was giving her issues, but she admitted it right out of the gate, and it accounted for her sometimes limited movement and her posture... I thought there were some cute interactions, including playful ribbing. She did really seem sweet with Sir Ian after they showed the Hugh Jackman clip. (Who wouldn’t melt for Hugh?! :inlove: I mean, I melt for M first, but Hugh might be next on the list. Insert Taron Egerton meme here! lol!)

I think Sheryl said something like she has two young kids so she knows where she stands with them...? I wasn’t sure what she meant, but I think it was self-deprecating in tone, rather than catty at M, but who knows. It could’ve been real uncomfortable, but I don’t think it was.

I heard Lily make some cute “yay!” like comments and that was sweet.

M made me LOL several times — “She’s dead now” especially! The birth announcement thing with Sir Ian. It was cute. She is so quick and clever! Love her forever.

  8. So cute!! I agree — I actually started to have the same thoughts when I was listening to “Crazy,” and I, too, thought it would be the accordion-playing (cabaret singer?) Madame X.

Could be multiple Madames, though, because, look at Medellín. That one is both the cha cha instructor (riding crop, black chin length wig) and the bride (long blonde wig with wedding dress and red long-sleeve glove)...

  9. I am also still waiting ... (I have listened to the five pre-release/preview tracks, but not any of the unofficial leaks.)

Less than 23 hours now where I am in the Eastern US. I don’t think I can wait for the physical CD — I will probably listen to my iTunes/Apple download at midnight, because it’s just too much of a struggle not to. I’ve ordered special editions, but I still might swing by a Target on Friday to see it in the store and pick up a couple gift copies...

Stay strong, everyone! We’re almost there — we can make it!!!

  10. I was generally a little anxious about this song and thought it wouldn’t be worth the trouble (in terms of the backlash she was getting about the collaboration). I listened to the original song on YouTube and wasn’t crazy about it ... so it is really encouraging to hear fans are responding well to it! I’m looking forward to hearing it now, instead of fearing it. (I haven’t listened to any leaks or snippets — waiting for Friday. Just listening to the official pre-release tracks.)

  11. This is just a negative moment for me — on the whole, I’m thrilled we get a new album this week, so don’t mind my grumpy note here, but — have we ever been reminded SO OFTEN in a review cycle that Madonna is (gasp) white? It’s getting really annoying. Almost every review has to point it out, like “for the uninitiated millennials reading this (yeah, right), you may not be aware of Madonna’s skin color...” I cannot roll my eyes enough. The one review had to mention her “white woman reggae accent” on “Future” and others mention the “white savior” complex ...

Call me insensitive, but I’d rather Madonna fall in that category than be apathetic to the plights and crises of the disenfranchised of the world ... content to pile up coins and not help those suffering from HIV or orphaned in Malawi, etc. It’s easier to criticize her because she does things to help than to look for the good and praise it. (And her version of “white savior” is not what most criticize. I think her work in Malawi has always been about helping the people there to learn and work together to improve conditions. Not for her to show up wearing a cape, heal the sick single-handedly one day and abandon her pet project the next. She has invested for the long term — not only with financial resources but with education and relationship-building ... and raising awareness with others around the world, to inspire them to help from a distance, even if they can’t travel to Malawi to help physically.)

Is there a Snoop Dogg collaboration coming up? Maybe a song remix for Top 40 radio?

Not sure ... In this case, I think Andy (or whoever is doing her hair in this IG post) is wearing a Snoop T-shirt... But she did post a photo from her Oscars party (later, not the day after) of her with Snoop and Pharrell.

Could mean nothing, but ... she posted photos from the previous year’s Oscars party with Cardi B and Quavo, right? And we got Champagne Rose and Future ...

Pharrell was involved in the original demo of Back That Up, so that means he would have a track on a version of Madame X, unless it has been reworked by someone else.

    We’ll see, I suppose!

thank you! Been wondering about that..

Someone MUCH earlier in the thread (not sure what page, sorry) actually posted a clip of the re-reversed intro, so you can actually hear her singing the words (and understand it — lol!) ... this happened before the release of the song, I think. Maluma posted a teaser of his album on his IG, and that was the audio used to flip it. May have been a user named daniel...

Ah, ok - not as exclusive as I thought - as long as I have the all of the available tracks, i'm good.

Right — possibly! As @horn pointed out, you can order the same thing from the UK or (possibly) Japan.

In terms of the music, you should be able to get it digitally. (Box set or 2CD will have these tracks, as well.) If you want a physical copy with the “I Rise”/blonde braids cover, the Target or other exclusive versions in other countries are the only way to get it, it seems.

Thanks Peter-My own fault for not ordering sooner, didn’t think it would sell out

Well, yeah, I guess it’s my own fault, too. I just thought the purpose of pre-orders is to assess demand ... and if you have another week to go before release, I assumed they’d still take pre-orders, even if the fulfillment might be delayed (i.e., okay, I understand I might not receive it on release day).

I also would have hoped that, if they cut off pre-orders, they would say it is because only a certain quantity was reserved for pre-order, and that limit has been reached, BUT there will be limited inventory available for purchase in store on Friday. But, no, that’s apparently not the case. (Could be, but nobody knows?!?)

Thank You I had it in my cart went to get my credit card and it sold out again-I’m going to keep checking-let me know if U see it again

I know!! the same just happened to me, unfortunately...

I am chatting with a customer service representative ... they said “the item has complete sold out” ... and I asked if they would even have (exclusive) CDs in store on Friday. He said “I’m sorry, as of now we don’t have more information. In this case I request you to keep an eye on the website.”

    😕

    Mess.

It’s probably already been answered but what are the two bonus tracks on the Target edition?  I see pre orders are sold out.

Thanks to @HolidayGuy, I checked again, and, even though it WAS indeed sold out earlier, it is available again!

Darn! I almost pre-ordered it last night, but was researching all the options again — looking at international Amazon choices for the box set and Japanese imports ... and it got late, so I just said, “oh, I’ll sleep on it.” Can’t believe the pre-order is sold out a week before. Irritating.

As for the tracks, I think it’s just what others have said: “Extreme Occident” and “Looking for Mercy.” On release date, that is the exclusive physical CD option to get those tracks in the US. The box set doesn’t come out until the following week, and the 2CD is an import only. (Yes, those tracks are on the deluxe digital, but the only CD that will have it on release day in the US is Target.)
