why is B day up again???
I was wondering the same thing!
was her cd completely off the charts and is back on at # 19? that's pretty impressive. Madonna had a network tv special and couldnt get the cd back on the chart, but Beyonce has a commercial and somehow debuts at # 19?? give it up to her i guess -
that sounds about right cause i hear both those songs at least once a day...sometimes twice. I hear JUMP and HUNG UP the most of the confessions singles.

I often wonder if SIRIUS radio is tracked? Cause Madonna is on those stations round the clock. I recently purchased this and the first song i heard on there was GET TOGETHER and you can program the radio to alert you when a certain artist is being played on another station and i programmed Madonna. Sometimes the thing beeps 2 or 3 times at once cause she is on all over the place. I've heard everything from Physical Attraction to Jump. They play all her Confessions singles, and remixes too. I was never very interested in SIRIUS or XM radio until a friend got it and then i had to have it. You'll never listen to 'normal' radio again.
It would be great if these stations were tracked as well but i doubt they are.

I was really surprised with the music stores in DC this summer: they are really bad.I used to think that the ones in my city were the worst, but they even have madonna´s singles (OK, only in Fnac,but "El corte inglés", the other big one, has all madonna´s CDs)!!!! and in DC, well, I saw COADF, Erotica, AL, And LAV all the time, but LAP for example...no.On the other hand, she was probably the only artist with maxis, but only her last ones, Get together and Jump.
DC stores can be really hit or miss. Some of them do carry the maxi singles which is nice, but like you said, only the recent ones.
as for her cds...kinda surprised you saw EROTICA at all. that is NEVER seen in this area except at places like BORDERS. those types of stores carry almost all her catalog. I was at a BORDERS a week or so ago and they had EROTICA and BEDTIME STORIES which shocked the shit out of me. places like BEST BUY only carry like 1 copy of Confessions, 1 of a random cd and then the collection and thats it. they've had the same two copies of the Confessions tour since it came out.
speaking of Target, our Target stores dont have a Madonna section either. Not that Target has 'sections'....the slots there are big enough for what? 2 cds?
my view on GHV2...i didnt mind it, it was what it was, but i did like the cover, and the photo collection inside was nice. Hated the write up though, totally not funny

It doesnt hurt either that most stores carry a lot of copies of MADONNA. Stores around here always have loads of copies of MADONNA but i havent seen BEDTIME STORIES in maybe 2-3 years? and once in a while i will see a copy of MUSIC but not often, and certainly not many. Things cant sell if they arent there to buy.

At the Times Square store, they had a COADF display with 110 copies of the CD.
GHV2 is not on sale for $10.
did you actually count them all? if so, you're my kinda guy!
we have a new BEST BUY that opened in our area this past week, they only had 1. oh well.
but they had lots o' CONFESSIONS TOUR and several I"m going to tell you....

our Best Buys stores around here are still selling this for 19.99
Kinda surprised about that. i wonder if they have forgotten about it? I'm going to tell you a secret was only on sale for 1 week at these stores, this one has stayed at 19 the whole time its been out.

so just because 'thats the way its always been' mean it HAS to stay that way? That means about as much as someones mother saying "because i said so"
Centuries from now, life will have changed in so many more ways, we have millions of ways to buy music, to watch movies etc, but certs will still be figured out the same way. I'm not saying you have to change technology or anything but soundscan is already doing the work. If something scans 1.6 million, certify that as 1.6, i dont know why that would be hard to do.
this system is more old fashioned than Wimbledon refusing to pay women equal prize money, and they finally moved into the times. High time RIAA does the same.

I just cant believe in this day and age, they cant base certs on what is physically sold. To quote Madonna, why's it so hard?
why in the year 2007, are they still basing it on shipments? Who gives a fly frig how much a cd ships? half the time, most of whats shipped gets sent back.

I was gonna post this in the other thread we had going...the one about doing a store count of this cd/dvd but i couldnt find it anymore.
I'll just do it here since it does have to do with the confessions tour set. I was at our local best buy today to get the Dixie Chicks dvd (shut up and sing) and i did my usual check of Madonna's section and obviously someone is NOT a fan cause they had 5 slots (from top to bottom of a row) for madonna and someone had taken another artists cd and covered every single one of Madonna's cds so the one of Madonna that should have been facing out was covered by this other artist. i removed them all and put them back but it was obvious they were covering her.
the copies of Confessions on a dance floor that were there last time were gone (except 1) but the confessions tour set had the same amount as last time. It doesnt appear to have sold any copies in the 2 weeks i've gone back. seems like they had that inital burst in the beginning but they seem to be stuck with these last 4 copies. Just thought it was a funny story to share. I can imagine someone going there and placing other cd's in front of her. i can understand someone just placing one lazily in the wrong slot and moving along but all 5 slots had someone in front of her and that's NEVER been like that!
(maybe a Mariah fan?...Carrie Underwood fan??) -

the thing i dont understand is, in the time it took to say "someone already said that"....someone could have just answered the question again. No big harm in saying something twice. Happens all the time on here.

Does Target ever really have large stocks of cds? Their bins are so tiny. i'm never at Target except at x-mas and i cant imagine more than 1 or 2 cds in a slot. and this new one, with its extra packaging would take a lot of room. My best buy had 12 copies and that took up 2 bins and thats normal for best buy

thanks HG. i really like how you're doing this now with the old stuff and the Confessions era below.
Bought a new copy of Ray of light today along with the Confessions dvd/cd. My roommate spilled a glass of orange juice all over it. totally ruined the cover and the booklet and even though i got the cd cleaned, i was afraid to try to play it and ruin the cd players so i just got a new one.

does anybody here recall how high IGTYAS ranked on amazon's top selling list a week before its release?
It was definately in the top 10 because i remember being surprised when i saw how high it was right before the release. i dont think it was as high as this one though. this morning its already # 4.
I think it could be a top 10 debut on Billboard with as low as some of this week chart #'s are. I think she can sell enough to make top 10.

Speaking of IGTTYAS, i think our Best Buy store actually sent all their copies back. Ever since the cd/dvd came out, they've had about 20+ copies, and every time i go in the store, i always check out her section, see what cd's they have of her etc, well they've always had quite a few of Secret, well i was there last week and they still had the same amount and then today i went in and there was only 1. have a hard time believing it sold all those copies so it was surprising the others were gone. I wonder if they do that when they know a new one is coming to make room?? I dont know. all her other ones where there, but secret was removed.

i went to visit a friend of mine in New Jersey this past weekend and heard HUNG UP and DRESS YOU UP on the radio.
I dont think i've heard Dress You up in years on the radio. Not one of my faves but it was nice to hear it.

I was in Mexico this weekend and heard "Hanky panky" on the radio there. I am sure it was a texas station that reached into Mexico as we were in the border town areas.

oh come on, you knew what i was getting at. besides, does anyone watch the AMA's anymore? i didnt even know they were on.
and rechart based on appearing on an award show and the other instances listed, is impressive. i was giving it up to Beyonce. Plus i didnt know Wal Mart had her cd on sale. thats why i asked in the post above 'why the high rechart?"
guess y'all told me.
personally love the cd so glad to see it still kicking.
