It sounds like a very strategic and safe reopening unlike how bars in NYC opened over the weekend. Bars served drinks as take out orders but people hung out in the streets outside the bars causing over crowding and some bars even let people in to drink. People were not practicing social distancing and wearing masks either. The stupidity and ignorance of people in general is to blame, but also political leaders such as Cuomo and DeBlahsio who are not making masks and social distancing mandatory instead just saying that people should be safe and let the animals out of their cages. I've seen videos from Italy and from what I've seen people seem to be wearing masks and respecting the rules in public spaces. The US at the moment doesn't seem to understand.

I'm actually really surprised at Thailand and the Thai people.  To be honest I thought we would be a complete disaster during this pandemic and I  am shocked at how scared people were/are . I'm also surprised to see so many people in Europe wearing masks .I personally hate wearing it ( I know I advocate for it in most of my posts here ) . You smell your own  our own breath and half of your face is always covered with your saliva but I would rather it be MY own saliva than someone else's  .

I mean now in Thailand face masks , face shields and even rubber gloves are A THING . They are like the most fashionable accessories you can wear . It's weird .

We are a developing country but we have really good heath care system and great hospitals here . It's one of our largest industries ( we have a lot of foreigners coming to our country for all sorts of treatments as they are more affordable  ) . Our culture has saved us a lot of lives too . I would give 80 % credit to our people ( we almost did everything ourselves with minimum help from the gov ) and 20 % ( begrudgingly ) to our government who did a passable job but it was us , the people , that did most of the work .

IMO clubs and bars should be the last places to reopen . I know people might want to enjoy the summer and the good weather but it's not worth the risk . There will be another summer.

But you only have one life .

    Has DJ Station re-opened? :1251:

The club ? No . Clubs and bars will be in the very last phase of lockdown easing ( as well as boxing arena - we got a super spreader from there ) .

Sales of alcohol is still prohibited in restaurants as well. You can only buy them in supermarkets , liquor stores .

Sounds good to me - other countries should follow suit but clearly that's not the aim for countries like the UK where I live!

It's an odd thing to see . I couldn't even imagine it a few months ago .

I guess we have to adapt to this life until there is a vaccine .

Oh and some people now bring their own plates / cutlery to restaurants .

  4. We have reopened about 80 % of our country. Inbound / Outbound flights are still banned till end of June .

Malls ( except gym and  cinema ) , Stores , restaurants as well as some offices have reopened . Schools remain close and students have to study online.

I went to the one of the malls for the first time in almost 3 months and everybody was wearing masks and face shields . All staffs at the malls

( in all stores ) are wearing masks and face shields as well as rubber gloves  . I was wearing mask and disposable rubber gloves and no one bat an eyelid .

Tables at restaurants have clear partitions

separating the diners . Even if you go together as a couple you will have to sit behind your own partition on the same table.

A table of 4 will only have 2 seats available as per social distancing guideline. Bars and clubs are still close until further notices .

Sales of alcohol are banned in restaurants ( available to take home only ).

When you go into a restaurants, stores , malls you must check in / out with QR codes and you can submit reviews of whether or not the promises are following the government's

    health / safety guidelines .

This is the new normal here .

Would it make a difference if it originated from a chicken?

No it wouldn't but when you say it comes from bat people will immediately go " EW" in disgust .

I mean in many fine Chinese restaurants they do serve bird' nest soup which is technically not a nest made out of twigs / leaves  but hardened saliva of the swiftlets ( bird ) .

Good lord . I read on CNN that he had apologised .I also read in the news that there will be an anti-asian sentiment after this .

    WORLD .....

  7. From Bryan Adams

Tonight was supposed to be the beginning of a tenancy of gigs at the @royalalberthall, but thanks to some f–king bat eating, wet market animal selling, virus making greedy bastards, the whole world is now on hold, not to mention the thousands that have suffered or died from this virus. My message to them other than “thanks a f–king lot” is go vegan. To all the people missing out on our shows, I wish I could be there more than you know. It’s been great hanging out in isolation with my children and family, but I miss my other family, my band, my crew and my fans. Take care of yourselves and hope we can get the show on the road again soon. I’ll be performing a snippet from each album we were supposed to perform for the next few days. X❤️ #songsfromisolation #covid_19 #banwetmarkets #selfisolation #bryanadamscutslikeaknife #govegan🌱

Hmm you have wet markets in the west too and slaughter houses .Also i don't think it's the right time to promote Veganism .

I think he has since deleted the post and apologised .

Thailand is now down to ZERO confirmed case today . Gov says just because it's zero today doesn't mean it's going to be zero tomorrow . I don't know how far

extensive testing has been down . More easing of lockdown will happen this Sunday (  Malls , stores opening ) .

I agree. Being gay in Asia is weird. I am from the Philippines and the most popular celebrity atm is gay, a comedian. You would think because of this being gay is already been accepted but hell no. The more appropriate term is "tolerated." It is like you can be gay but you have to be useful to the society like cracking jokes all the time to forget the pressing problems.

I live in Australia now but I feel the gay vibe in the Philippines is campier, but there is still discrimination.

It's getting better in Thailand . We have tons of series about gay couples etc . They have to be young ( like in their early 20s ) with pale skin though ( like the K pop stars ) . We also

love fantasy match making them but if one if them ever come out as real ' REAL ' gay there would be a mild uproar .

Not like in the old days though . Now it's more accepted . We also have tons of trans celebrities / models .

Korea was about to clear their infection but one idiot screwed them up.

Coronavirus: South Korea reports new infection cluster linked to nightclubs

    • A 29-year-old man visited three nightclubs that had at least 1,500 patrons in Seoul’s popular Itaewon neighbourhood over the weekend
    • Local media initially identified the nightspots as ‘gay clubs’, sparking criticism that it could lead to discrimination and deter club-goers from getting tested

SCMP | Park Chan-kyong, Associated Press and Reuters Published: 2:16pm, 8 May, 2020

South Korea confirmed 12 new coronavirus cases on Friday, its first increase above 10 in five days, as authorities warned numbers would increase as it had identified a new cluster of infections linked to a 29-year-old man.

The IT company employee had spread the virus to at least 14 others as he wandered around the capital Seoul and four neighbouring cities over a long weekend period at the start of the month, said the Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

While the 12 cases were those confirmed in the 24 hours before midnight on Thursday, more cases had since been detected, with 12 of these – including three foreigners and a South Korean soldier – linked to three nightclubs in Seoul’s popular multicultural neighbourhood of Itaewon.

The man visited the three clubs last Friday and early on Saturday and there were at least 1,500 people there, authorities said. The man did not wear a mask while in the clubs and only started showing symptoms late on Saturday.

The government now plans to issue an administrative order asking entertainment venues such as nightclubs and bars to voluntarily suspend operations for at least one more month, Yoon Tae-ho, director general for public health policy, announced on Friday.

The new cases are a setback for South Korea, which was initially the worst-hit country outside China before a mix of widespread testing and contact tracing helped keep infections down.

The country, with 10,822 confirmed cases and 256 deaths, plans to reopen schools in stages from next week with professional sports returning to action without fans in the stands.

Unlike other countries, South Korea did not impose a lockdown or mandate closure of businesses and this has contributed to strong support for President Moon Jae-in, whose approval ratings hit a record high for any democratically elected South Korean leader at the same point in their in office on Friday.

The figure was 71 per cent according to a weekly Gallup Korea tracking poll.

Vice Health Minister Kim Gang-lip on Friday urged people who visited the clubs in Itaewon early on Saturday to stay home and contact authorities if they developed symptoms.

“It is highly likely that there are more cases down the road,” he said.

The case occurred in circumstances “where it is very hard to track patients’ movements”, he said.

“It is like dropping a blob of ink into clean water” that could undermine health authorities’ efforts to contain the virus, he said, calling for people to endure inconveniences in combating the virus.

Koreans are ultra conservative . I mean it's so odd because K pop is camp as anything . People ( Asians in general ) love LOVE matching two male K popstars together . Like they love it if

the two males play out their fantasy gay romance but In S. Korea ( and many other places in Asia )  it is not ok to be gay for real .

    You people are amazing

Cannot wait for this nightmare to be over so we can all resume our lives and continue living or pursuing our dreams in full

Yes but a lot of things will change forever . The way we study , live , travel and work ( a lot of companies including mine have now realised that they could still operate with

less people . Less locations etc . )

    Omg

    That is so sad

The people did more for themselves than the government cared to

Yes, it's great after two straight months to finally be able to enjoy parks, city walks, order a coffee take away etc but the new normal still feels weird

Sure, we'll only make it if we play together, best for all

YES ! We did almost everything ourselves . They announced the lockdown without think of the precautions and safety measures . Thai Government was saying one thing

and the Bangkok governor was saying another . The first week was a nightmare but here we are still safe and sound .

The new normal . It's weird isn't it. My family and I was in Italy ( Rome , Venice , Florence & Milan ) in October and on out way back we were saying we want to go back and explore

the Amalfi coast in the spring / summer .

How fast has everything changed ?  Until there is a vaccine this is the way we have to live I guess .

    Great  👍

Many countries in South East Asia are so rich in culture, manners, different culinary habits but healthier, I'm reading a book about it, obviously bar the wild animals markets in China which I find abhorrent, I could never eat snakes, rats, bats or dogs of all sweet smart creatures!

But the West always knows best, doesn't it

Hahaha we do eat some weird things too in Thailand especially in the provinces like field rats ( never tried it ) that feed of rice and lizards as well as deep fried insects .The tourists love them too . I asked my friend who is Chinese once why do they eat dogs in China and he said the meat gives them warmth in the bitterly cold winter . It's the old age belief but I hope all of us have learned something from this pandemic .

I think on the whole our culture has saved us a lot of lives .The fact that we are quite reserved as people ( no kissing / hugging / touching unless you're besties ) and maybe the way we live our lives is different than those in the West .

Personally I just feel like 90% of our people were / are really afraid of catching it . And when we went into lockdown the street was virtually empty and people respected the rules . Our government didn't;t do such good job at helping the less unfortunately . So many people who were left without jobs , incomes , savings  didn't get any help from the government .

The new normal ( how I hate that phase ) is unfortunately here . My office will open fully end of this month and wearing face mask is mandatory and you will be notified and then fired if you do not comply . Who would have thought that it would have come to this ?

Stay strong and lets make it through this together ! 🙏

Kind of like Italy schedule

    And we deserve it

Coming from over a thousand deaths daily if not more, to now 140

After not having been able to leave the house for two long months, if not to buy groceries or going to the chemist/pharmacy

And astoundingly the vast majority of people respected those measures

That's amazing . I'm surprised at Thai people too. It turned out we're really afraid of catching covid-19 .

Now we are slowly opening up again . Malls will re open on 17th May . Fitness / Gym will probably be opening end of May.

I wished I could post a photo of a gym in Hong Kong ( it says error 7 again  ) where for every cardio machine there are 2 huge head to toe perspex screens on both sides of the machines  .

Testing is not always the magical solution. You can be negative in the morning and be infected in the evening. Experts say it's far more efficient to especially test those in high exposure (health workers for example) and keep masks and social distancing in the population.

But of course they may say other things next month. They are learning about this as we speak 😄

Yep and the WHO did almost nothing ! I'm like shocked ! We juts have to rely on ourselves and be prepare to live with this for a long while .

Thanks for asking. You are always so nice ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Being nice is the least I could do at this particular time . We are the only remaining OG Kylie loons ( I think there are like ONLY four of us left )after all ! 😆

I think  our government is deliberately under-testing people to flatten the curve .I also think this is something we will have to live with for a while .

If everyone is wearing FPP2 masks the risk of contagion is less than 2%.

I hope so but you know sometimes when you see photos like this you don't really think abbot the percentage .

My office will be up and running end of May ( end of state of emergency ) unless there is a second wave. Saw people on Facebook being let go / fired from their jobs due to the

    virus is heart breaking .

I hope you are well and healthy in Spain .🙏

GOP State Rep. Nino Vitale on why he won’t wear a face mask: “This is the greatest nation on earth founded on Judeo-Christian Principles. One of those principles is that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. That image is seen the most by our face.”

This is Bangkok Thailand . First day of reopening / easing lock down and our sky train ( BTS ) had malfunctioning train and tons of people had to wait on the super crowded platform . God I fear for the second wave .

    # months of social distancing and now THIS !

  18. We are up in the tens again ( +18 ) with 40 + cases ( or even more ) awaiting the results. Sale of alcohol was lifted yesterday and people ( seemed like the whole of Thailand ) rushed to

get their hands on the booze at the super stores . No social distancing whatsoever . People also rushed to get their hair cut ( hair colouring treatment is still banned ) and to eat in

restaurants . My cousin is in critical care due to the virus . He also has diabetes but I'm hoping he will pull through .

Tons of my friends who worked for hotels / airlines have lost their jobs .

I really don't want to have a second wave happening here to be honest .

Is travel even allowed to foreign countries?

I don't even want to travel by bus to NYC let alone a foreign country right now lol

I was in the planning stages for a vacation to Italy just a few days before this whole thing happened so it's definitely not happening anytime soon.

Depends on the country . I think right now even if you can fly you might be met with a 14 day quarantine in a hotel room / airport scenario so not really worth it in my opinion .

All my planned trips have been cancelled until 2021 .

In Thailand domestic flights have started operating but you have to wear mask at all time and there will be no food service .

Flight attendants in head to toe PPE gear .

Thailand is also closed to foreigners until 1st June .

  20. We are also opening up as we are now down to 3 confirmed cases today ( with probably 40 + tomorrow due to people with suspicious symptoms coming in from other countries ).

Wearing face mask is compulsory on all public transports and as of now all restaurants have to set their table at least 1.5 meters apart or have partitions between tables .

Some Domestic flights have resumed with flight attendants wearing head to toe covering PPE.

Airlines are not allowed to sell all seats . they have to leave some seats empty ( middle seat for example ) to respect social distancing rules .

Gym / fitness / yoga studios are still closed but all open air sports ( tennis , riding , golf , running ) can be practiced as long as it's not a competition with spectators and only

if it's in the open air ( No indoor tennis etc ) .

God this is the new normal .

This part of the U.S was hit hard.   I think the peak is finally over but still gotta quarantine.  I have to wonder soon with the weather getting nicer and people dealing with cabin fever if they’ll ignore all the risks

    be safe

Yes it shocked me at first but then I realised that I don't have that masturbation video he was threatened to send to all my co workers / friends and family .

Regarding the virus ..it's a shame really because we had a BEAUTIFUL summer here in Thailand ( ours is from around feb - end of April ) . Sky was so blue and clouds so white .

Glorious sunshine . Super hot .All these and I had to stay home and watch Netflix ! I guess it's better than being ill .

    Stay safe .
