Having Tom Yam Kung for 14 days in a confinement space? And I'm paying for the expensive swab test AND hotel accommodation to get myself lock up in a hotel fo 14 days?

    I rather stay home then.

hahaha with the minimum of 30 days stay , meaning you can leave your hotel to go elsewhere  within Phuket after your 14 days quarantine .

  2. Thailand will be reopening for general Tourism on 1st October but only on the island of Phuket with a MANDATORY minimum stay of 30 days including 14 days hotel quarantine as well as regular PCR tests for covid-19 .

Phuket will act as a model for the rest of Thailand. It's an island so it will be pretty much sealed off from the get go . Also Government will be selective on which countries will be allowed

into the country but they've not decided yet.

Thailand Reopening Phuket For Tourism Oct 1– Visitors Must Stay 30 Days

The governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Yuthasak Supasorn, made a statement on August 21st confirming the government’s plan to open Phuket for international tourism on October 1st.

Reopening Phuket for international tourists will act as a pilot program for the rest of Thailand.

There are many rules, including a mandatory 30 day stay, 14-day in hotel quarantine, and many PCR tests, but tourists will be able to enjoy hotel facilities and in some cases, the beach.

But how accurate are some of the figures? Everyone is counting differently and does anyone really believe China had only 4,600 deaths

A lot of  under developed countries have lower figures due to the fact that they couldn't afford to do extensive testings. A lot of developed countries like Japan also reported lower figures at first and did minimal testings because they are afraid of Tokyo Olympics being cancelled .

No idea about China since they didn't even release the info about the virus until it was too late .

Jacinda Ardern's Labour Party has released its first election policy ahead of New Zealand's 19 September election - business support to hire new workers in the COVID-hit economy.

New Zealand has reached a major milestone in its fight against the coronavirus: 100 days without community transmission of the disease.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, out on the campaign trail ahead of the 19 September poll, welcomed the "significant" point on Sunday but warned Kiwis it would not prevent future outbreaks.

"I don't believe there is any other country that has had COVID, come into our position, and sustained it away from our borders for that period of time," she said.

"But it actually doesn't lessen any of the risks.

"That's daily as long as we are continuing to exist in a world where this pandemic is growing.

"We are still having to manage our borders very very carefully ... we still have to be vigilant."

Free of COVID restrictions on movement or gatherings for two months, life has returned to normal for New Zealanders, apart from tight border controls.

Ms Ardern has been given top marks by Kiwis for her government's response to the pandemic, enjoying record popularity after the tough but successful lockdown which eliminated COVID-19 and allowed the domestic economy to reopen.

The 40-year-old spent the morning at Grey Lynn in her Mount Albert electorate, visiting a farmers market and chatting to Sunday shoppers.

The Labour leader said it was "really heartening to hear business has picked back up" for stallholders, noting the "ingenuity" of businesses that had changed their operations because of the pandemic.

At Saturday's campaign launch, she warned voters to expect a "COVID election campaign" revolving around the country's ravaged economy.

Admitting previous plans are out the window, Ms Ardern said the six-week campaign would be all COVID, all the time.

"No one wants it this way," she said.

"It's more an acceptance that naturally, that is how this will turn out to be.

"Of course we all had plans for a very different election campaign but the reality is, this is the biggest challenge that New Zealand will face for decades to come.

"It's only right that we talk about our plan to respond, recover and rebuild."

Labour launched the first policy of the campaign on Saturday, a $NZ311 million ($A287 million) scheme that will see bonuses paid to businesses hiring out-of-work Kiwis.

She and NZ did a great job. Lockdown was proper and she didn't budge or cave in to any demands and they've been able to recover pretty quickly .

My friend in Hong Kong told me that they are now in their 3rd phase of covid-19 . Dine In restaurants are banned as well as gyms and beauty parlors.

    Movement is limited .

Hong Kong was doing very well until they started opening up and gave free passes ( HK is a port ) to business executives , diplomats , air crews etc who didn't have to

quarantine . Now they are paying the price for it .

In Thailand we have had no internal infections . All of the new cases are from people returning from abroad .  Mostly workers from UAE although there have

been cases with people returning from USA as well. Our commercial airspace is still closed and probably will remain so until October/ End of Year .

I completely agree with you. I've seen to my surprise many examples of that in my area too

Same here . In Thailand at the height of Covid-19 , the people started putting these ' Lets share our happiness ' cabinets everywhere all over the country .

Basically they are cabinets where people can put anything from food , medicine , masks etc for the less unfortunate people who couldn't afford them . They can take as much or as little as

they want from the cabinets and you can contribute as much or as little ( or nothing ) as you want .

Things like that , for me , is a good reminder that we are not completely useless as human race .

  7. I'm not just talking about people on this forum . There are a lot of kindness in the world at the moment . Maybe not where you are but I see people helping each other out . We ( my family and I ) are helping out some friends who have lost their jobs due to covid .

Doctors , nurses and medical personals are working tirelessly to save lives.

    That's kindness .

I also hate this world. People only care about themselves. Nobody is willing to help other people and offer jobs to people in need and help make peoples dreams come true.

No wonder why many people are pushed to drugs these days because of this cruel world.

I wish i was never born so i wouldn’t have to experience the cruelty of this world. Being born into this world is a massive curse

Ermmm .... do you really mean that ? I've seen a lot of kindness ( many on this forum ) during this trying time .

I think it's called living . It's life . Just have to deal with it really .

I know. Australians are very bad, always people who refuse to get tested because they think its a conspiracy, protests and people arguing that covid is harmless or is fake spreaded by the government for control.

The conspiracy theorists need to stop . Period .

Because people are stupid. Ive lost faith in humanity. Its peoples fault that its only getting worse and worse. And their response is simply “stop being a sheep”.

Stop being a sheep and get Covid-19 and die ????

I spoke to my friends in UK and some of them were asking for death rates . They kept saying " Well how many people have died ?  Not that many is it ? ".

Then they said " Oh we don't know anyone who has it or have had it . "

I mean I don't know anyone who died of the great plague of London either but it doesn't mean it didn't happen or that it wasn't real .

    People are just nuts .

  11. I don't understand why it is so hard to understand that it has NOTHING to do with rights and everything to do with a life threatening and fast spreading virus .

It's such morbid way of thinking . If you go to a country that has mosquitoes and malaria , will you not put put on mosquito repellent lotion/ spray ?

Do they even know that you need vaccines if they wish to visit certain countries in the world ? Yellow fever , Typhoid ,Hepatitis A & B , Polio etc .

Or do they just want to stay in their own insular world ?

Now the virus is coming to YOUR country so you must protect yourself by wearing masks / washing hands and socially distancing yourself as much as possible.

If you think it's your right to choose to be infected by not following the logical guideline then I think medical personals also have the right to choose not

    to treat you.

As for ALL those conspiracy theories , people must have a lot of free time . I suggest they read up this :-

    https://www.straitstimes.com/world/europe/coronavirus-fallout-from-singapore-conference-spreads-across-europe

And that's just from ONE conference .

I read a quote recently saying that " A lot of people are feeling unproductive during Covid-19 but believe me if you successfully infect ZERO people with

the virus you've been extremely productive ."

  12. Hong Kong is in its second wave phase . Dine In restaurants , gym , beauty parlours are banned .

In Thailand here everything is back to the New normal . Face masks / face shields and hand sanitiser galore.

I read in the newspaper that in Japan some men got it from licking the same breasts of nightclub hostesses .

  13. In Thailand now we might have two new super spreaders on our hands . A bunch of Egyptian soldiers who came here on a mission have tested positive for Covid-19 .

They were not quarantined . They were just put in a hotel and went out to a shopping mall . The army has a lot to answer for in this case.

Another case is a 9 year old girl from Sudan. Traveled with family . Dad is a diplomat .Came to Bangkok with family of 5 on 10th July . The 9 year old just tested positive on 11th July after being admitted to a private hospital . They were also not put into quarantine due to diplomatic immunity ( !!!!! ) . They were also staying in a condo not in the embassy or residence of the embassy where they could have simply quarantined themselves . Now the whole condo and its surroundings will be under quarantine.

Everybody is pissed at the government so nothing new there .
