Gray-Haired Matt LeBlanc: 'I Dyed My Hair the Whole Time on 'Friends''

Six years after the finale of "Friends" — and four after spinoff "Joey" ended — fans might be shocked to see Matt LeBlanc, now 43, sporting silver hair.



But LeBlanc has a big secret bottled up. "I dyed my hair the whole time on 'Friends,'" he admitted Thursday at a Television Critics' Panel in Beverly Hills for his new Showtime series "Episodes."

"I just was sick of doing it," LeBlanc explained of darkening his locks.

And his 4-year TV hiatus was just what the doctor ordered, he said. "When 'Joey' ended, I took a lot of time off... I just really was kinda burned out. I just wanted to be a dad."

LeBlanc has a 6-year-old daughter, Marina, with his ex-wife Melissa McKnight. "We have a great bond, and it's the best thing in my life."

On "Episodes," LeBlanc plays a character named... Matt LeBlanc. "It's a character," he added. "It's not me. It's the public's perception of me more than really me."

Will LeBlanc reunite with "Friends" cohort Courteney Cox for a cameo on her ABC hit "Cougar Town"? "I haven't been asked!" he admitted, laughing.

Funny that this is "news." Lord knows how many in Hollywood do it/have done it.

This gives him a mature look that he lacked with the darker hair. Doesn't look bad.

I hate grey hair on anyone. I think everyone should dye their hair if they start greying. I don't find anything sexy about grey hair. Excpet on Andy Cooper! Most people I know started having some grey in their 20's. My dad didn't until his early 50's.

I agree. What I find funny is that Anderson Cooper notoriously dyes his hair grey when you'd think most 40 year old guys are trying to combat greying, not egg it on.

I couldn't disagree more. There's nothing WORSE than dyed hair on a man, it's up there with straightened hair, fake tan and plucked eyebrows for me. I love that salt and pepper look.

I like dyed hair on men. I'm currently sporting a blue-ish look. However, I love salt and pepper, too. Natural or otherwise, if it suits your personality (and compliments your face), I'm down with it.
