She's selling less than she does when she's laying low. I don't understand why her catalog sales have never been stable as someone like MJ's have been. I understand Thriller's Thriller, but Off The Wall, Bad, Dangerous, etc... all seem to do much better than Madonna's comparitive studio albums, never mind the fact that he hasn't toured in years and makes very few public appearances and stays out of the limelight these days. HolidayGuy
I updated the list to include AL, which I had neglected to include. Males sell better than females in general in terms of catalog life, that's something that can't be denied. Off the Wall always sells great, it's at 35,000+ YTD. But, Bad and Dangerous are well behind, at 10,235 and 14,120, respectively.

frozpog
I was just browsing Amazon and noticed a few of Madonna's cds have had price changes. Looks like they went into effect in July per wea.com Lab Code Cf Sel # Artist Title PA Dashless UPC "OLDSRP" "NEWSRP" SIR CD 25535 MADONNA You Can Dance N 075992553520 11.98 7.98 SIR CD 25844 MADONNA Like A Prayer N 075992584425 11.98 7.98 SIR CD 26209 MADONNA I'm Breathless N 075992620925 11.98 7.98 SIR CD 45767 MADONNA Bedtime Stories N 093624576723 11.98 7.98 not like the new price will cause sales to skyrocket but at a lower price it would be more of an impulse buy. thebigham
In this sales market, all Madonna albums should be $9.99. YCD and WTG should be $5.99-$7.99. I noticed a price reduction in Madonna's concert DVDs too.
HolidayGuy
Thanks, hotsticky. I don't have each year's annual total, but here are 1991-present tallies for albums and videos. franxisco66
thanks for the info HG I thought that COADF was closer to 1.7 for some reason..... I want it to be re-certified at some point!!!
HolidayGuy
WB recertify an album? At this point? Would be nice, but not expecting... maybe when it issues the compilation? To be certified double platinum, COADF would need to have 317,000 or so copies hanging around retail outlets, any outlet that sells CDs. (digital sales already are part of the 1.683m tally, and may be included when applying for a certification).
thebigham
As I have said over and over and over and over again, for COADF to be a serious contender for 2xp, it has to be over 1.8 million sold.

Guest nothingfails0603
people forget record club sales. How do we know COADF hasn't moved any at BMG? It is available there. I still think it deserves 2x if AL is worthy of 1x
Guest Hafo
Just as a reference, HG reported that on June 18, COADF's cume was 1.673.000. So it has sold roughly 10K in around 18 weeks.
