And we now begin a new year of sales info. Remember, this is just for albums, singles, videos/DVDS- the only digital component included is digital EPs/maxi singles, which are lumped with phyiscla sales.

*Note: Each weekly sales figure is the number reported by Neilsen SoundScan for that week. But the to-date total will *not* be equal to adding up every weekly figure because of sales "adjustments" made by SoundScan after COADF fell off the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. Also, weekly sales marked with an * (asterik) are rounded off.

It will be interesting to see if the DVD gives a bump to confessions and other big catalog sellers in the couple weeks after release. Okay, maybe 100K is a lot but we only have 94K to go at this point. Still might be pushing it. I could see at least another 50K over the next 45 weeks. Time will tell...

So, the last 3 figures are all rounded... *updates*...

I'm pretty sure I posted sales for W/E 1/14.

Simplest thing to do is just go by whatever the cume to date is- is posting *all* the weekly numbers from the start, at this point, all that necessary?

I'll just update that one post HG, not add a new post each week.

Wow at American Life dropping to 55 units! That has to be it's worst week ever! Crazy! Anyways, it's nice to see COADF doing decent still. I think this one is going to remain a steady catalogue seller.

thanks HG. i really like how you're doing this now with the old stuff and the Confessions era below.

Bought a new copy of Ray of light today along with the Confessions dvd/cd. My roommate spilled a glass of orange juice all over it. totally ruined the cover and the booklet and even though i got the cd cleaned, i was afraid to try to play it and ruin the cd players so i just got a new one.

considering how low the catalog sales have gotten, news of the remasters couldn't have come at a better time. I foresee Warner doing the 2-disc CD/DVD-Audio packaging similar to the recent R.E.M. and Depeche Mode remasters. Personally, I plan on rebuying the catalog in 5.1 and I am sure I'm not the only one. If they come out this year, this might be the best catalog year since pre-Napster for many of the albums.

Also of note:

COADF passed 1.5 million in *physical* sales this week- 1,501,299 to be exact. :)

How I wish legal downloads counted towards RIAA album certs. :(

Do You Know Other Catalog Title's Digital Album Sales To Date?

Yes, but there could be close to 500K physical copies of COADF out there (stores, BMG, etc.). Regardless, I'm sure a 2 platinum cert will come at some point within the next couple of years. :)

Since there is no cert level for digital albums, I don't know why they don't get counted toward certs (a digital copy isn't "shipped," that's the only reason I can think of- after all, it's the whole album; I can see why individual tracks aren't lumped with physical singles, since the actual content one's buying is different- not the case with albums).
