2016 Pulse Nightclub mass shooting

Oh please, they're doing this because it's an election year; watch how silent they'll all fall after the election. Manipulators and opportunists is nothing to be proud of. They look like a bunch of damn hippies, which only fuels Trump btw.

Republicans and Democrats are of the same coin. Manipulators and opportunists.

False equivalence.

I get what Sloane is saying but Sloane you're anger is a little misplaced. These people could be decent and at least somebody is doing something. So far it's been radio silence. The main problem today is that everybody is encouraged to be an extremist. The reason that this has happened is hegemony. We're all being penned into convenient boxes so we're easier to sell to/control. What Sky Ferreira recently said touches on it. Now I'm not at all middle of the road...but I don't think every fuckinh decision has to be between two binary opposites.

False equivalence.

If 2 things are both wrong then I dont have to pick which one is right. Slap any label on that you want, doesn't change the fact.

Of course you don't think every decision should only be between 2 binary opposites; most people with a brain in their head would agree. You said that today people are encouraged to be extremist and that we're all being penned into convenient boxes. I know you're not American but you seem tuned-in, Do you think the Democrats are extreme? I'll tell you right now, throwing open the borders and getting rid of guns, guns other than the almighty government's of course, does not sound like good policy. It sounds extreme.

I think assault rifles being widely available is not only extreme but also extremely stupid. I think democrats are another extreme yes. The American political system is awful for relying on binary opposites. Psychology states that when making a decision it's best to choose from 3 variables. The reason is that you can make informed and rounded decisions rather than being confused by contrasting elements. We live in a culture of fear and threats. Notice how Politicians play on the fears of each side. The mefia dkes the same.

Right wing: immigrants are coming to get you, your money will disappear, your culture will be destroyed.

Left wing: your social conscience will be fucked over, your civil liberties will be destroyed and you will be ALONE.

If you read political media/propaganda you will realise how much they play on the idea of belonging. Essentially all humans seek to belong and that makes it a useful tool in controlling a person. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Without being too Lucky Guy about it...you're being manipulated either way. However Sloane...guns are never going to have an overall positive impact.

Democrats extreme? Oh people. If anything they've gotten themselves into trouble by being too milquetoast. They're actually parsing this out very carefully, as they should. This latest sit-in was a great move if for nothing else to show that they have a backbone. Republicans would do a sit-in to deny people healthcare or immigration rights. Or to shut down the government (they've done that twice). Or deny women the right to choose. Think about that difference. Republicans should not be an extremist group. They should be a normal functioning party with legitimate ideas. Their reputation now is a direct symptom of getting wrapped up in the cycle of money/fear mongering/whatever you wanna call it. They have done this to themselves. Democrats weathered similar stormy moments in the 70s/80s. They had to dig themselves out of political wilderness and they did. Republicans are just too crazed to do it right now, and they've earned themselves a fat orange ball of turd named Trump. This is troubling because we can't have one party that functions normally and another one that just functions to destroy.

All this horse shit about democrats and republicans being the same thing is such crap, and ridiculing them for waht they did last night is just another one of those "oh I'm so fed up with the system, let me throw my vote away and vote green or libertarian! Hehe!! I'm so productive and I really used my voice properly."

No, that's called political tourism. You're in it for your ego and for vanity "proving a point" rather than make life better for yourself and anothers. Cynicism isn't a good thing all the time - there's a point where it just merges with complacency and pretending to be proud of that is laughable.

I defy ppl who say that the democrats did this as a publicity stunt to sit down in front of one of my wounded friends and tell that to their face. Call it political theater but they ran a risk of turning off huge swaths of ppl by doing what they did. They could have easily just gone to the media and recited talking points about how cowardly and craven the republicans are. Instead they stood up to their obstruction and did what they could. They may win voters becuz of it, but they will certainly lose them too.

So, what's the alternative here? What should they be doing? Please enlighten me.

They chip away at it. Ban this, ban that. Then ban this a little more until finally you have a virtually unarmed mass with a heavily armed government completely dominating. That's very dangerous and why the second ammendment was developed in the first place. Look I'm no big lover of guns; don't even own one, never have. All these hunters and macho enthusiasts filming their gun parties by spraying some innocent fish pond aren't doing themselves any favors. I grew up with a gun in the house. My father sat us down and gave us the speech ... it ain't a toy, don't touch it. It's just not something my brother or I was ever tempted by, dad made it clear (he wasn't above using the belt). The majority of gun owners are responsible people and shouldn't be blamed for this crazy animal in Orlando.

If Democrats wanna take every single gun and throw them off the face of the planet that's fine with me. But this business of the government and only politicians and celebrities with their armed security and no one else can go kick rocks. So long as their special asses get assault rifles, then so should everyone else. Unfortunately that means the shitheads get ahold of them too, which is the pickle we're in, or at least I'm in with my beliefs. Many people against "gun control" employ the argument of mental health issues not being addressed, which I tend to agree with. There's not much money in that so it gets ignored.

I swear.

Assault weapons were banned in the US for years. The ban was allowed to expire under the Bush administration. This is not a social experiment. It's also not rocket science.

Those 2 center paragraphs. You just think you got it all figured out. You know "us" so well. Fact is I'm not voting Libetarian. I wrote their assess off in the 90s. As of right now, I'm a Trump supporter. Voted for Bernie in the primaries. But you did get one thing right in that comment you deleted last night (not being snarky, just wanna address one point you made), I am one those scoundrels who indirectly got George W elected. I voted Nadir. Independant voters often vote third party exactly to avoid this situation we're in: democrat or republican. We have been trying for YEARS for that third option to avoid this binary choice bullshit. WE CARE. We care a whole fuckin lot but now we're boxed in, like everybody else. It's time to lie in the bed that's made. Face the disaster and put it in the history books for future generations to learn from. The media carries on about how shocking this election season is. Really? Independent voters... the ones who chose Nadir and Perot... saw this shit coming for years. Don't blame us. Your mass anti votes ... voting democrat to avoid a Republican instead of this third guy telling you til he was blue in the face that we need a change... gave you your President Trump.

That is if he wins which right now I'm thinking he won't.

You go from voting for a Socialist to voting for the policies of Donald Trump. Yep, that makes a lot of sense. And who the hell is Nadir?

WE WANT A CHANGE. How hard is that to understand? The situation is so dire it doesn't even matter anymore. Bring Satan himself up in this bitch just for the love of god CHANGE.

The post I deleted last night was mostly out of not wanting to get into this discussion again- cuz I've had it maybe 30 times at this point - but in the interest of sleeping at night, I have to repeat just how dire the stakes are.

Trump actually uses campaign contributions to funnel money back to his tacky ass businesses. It's hilarious. The campaign is a racket, and he never meant to get this far. He raised a paltry 3 million last month. He's like a deer in the headlights, and using his stank racist mouth to distract from that fact. Dude is probably worth less than Madonna too. Otherwise he'd be showing off his tax returns with all those billions.

It'll be fun watching him lose. Probably just as fun watching him win which is less likely. He'd get impeached within 6 months of his taking office. Who knows what'll become of the country then.

When did Democrats ever say they're going to take away all guns? That's the same bullshit fear mongering the NRA and their lap dog Republicans been peddling for decades. People are just asking for sensible gun control that would close loopholes through thorough background checks and keep assault weapons from the general public. No one is trying to take away handguns from responsible citizens.

Yes his businesses are tacky and yes it's hilarious, in a tragic way. I had a realtor like him years ago. Total shyster. These fuckers are easy to spot but if you come at them a certain way they'll do back flips for you. Trump can be handled, but taking him over your knee and spanking him will only fuel the brat. You can't out shyster a shyster...directly. They will engulf you unless you find that back door and because they're so darn shallow it's easy to find. They're narcissists. They wanna hear the lingo and BOOM you're in. Then its a matter of bait and switch. Now do I think there is anyone in the American government right now that can handle Trump successfully? No. But maybe. There's my glimpse of "change" because one thing I do know for certain is Hillary ain't change.

As far as Trump funneling campaign money into his businesses, if he needs a venue to host the press, for example, and has the perfect ballroom for that to happen, what's wrong with using it? He pays the company. It's legal. Granted it's cunning but hey that's politics. I assume that's what you're referring to.

Sloane please tell me you don't believe that Donald would run your country well.

I have no clue. For a lot of Trump supporters, definitely can't speak for all, that's the million dollar question. I do agree with the opinion that he may have gotten in over his head and didn't expect to get this far.

And calls Belgium a city.

That was a slip of the tongue! Give the guy SOME slack. That's what happens when you don't use a teleprompter. He knows Belgium is a country and you know he knows it. I understand there's a lot to confront this guy on but let's not get petty about it. It waters down the big stuff you want to address when you're constantly nitpicking. After awhile they'll just tune you out, like you do your mom. That's probably why the little bitch went to Scotland for a few days.

Clinton is a damaged candidate. Her own worst enemy. A sometimes sloppy politician.

In every way, she is the Madonna of politics. Accused of every evil under the sun, but undeniably talented, incredibly intelligent, with an impressive understanding and knowledge of government. She will be underestimated, attacked, insulted, and maligned as a president. But she will be a good one. She is the inverse of Obama. High expectations have haunted his presidency. Overall he has been a good president; no such thing as a perfect administration. But that hurt him.

People are so ready to see her fuck up that I think if she's elected and gets something as consequential as immigration reform done and action on climate change, she will be lauded as a success. She's a 1 term prez tho. She is so hated. And the GOP, assuming Trump fucks them up the ass in November, will come back in 2020 with a brand new, hopefully sane face of their policies, and finally enjoy a renaissance of their once pitifully backwards party.

All of this is my opinion. Thx

Trump is not change. Trump is someone who doesn't even want to be president but can't stop the train now. Jokes on you guys.

Nail on head!!

This is what I have a hard time with. How can people NOT see this?? It's been blatantly obvious since the beginning of this whole charade! I mean do they truly not see it or are they just so thirsty for "change" that they're latching on to just about anyone at this point and just don't care??
