Madame X radio station on Sirius

I knew it was offered to Michael Jackson first but apparently that was just the instrumental.

She and Patrick Leonard co-wrote and co-produced the song, and Bruce Gaitsch provided additional songwriting. Sire Records released it as the album's final single on February 25, 1987. The instrumental version of the song was first offered to Michael Jackson before Madonna both accepted it and wrote the lyrics and melody. "

The same company that runs the other stations: Sirius XM. They get paid subscribers, and I assume they also have limited advertising revenue (but I don’t know, because I’m not a subscriber).

As pointed out earlier in the thread, there are other stations dedicated to one artist. Madonna’s certainly worthy of it, and her repertoire is varied and eclectic enough that it really wouldn’t be a monotonous listening experience.

I’ve never wanted to pay for radio — but a dedicated Madonna channel with rarities would make me consider it, I’ll say that.

If your original question, lasky, was getting at whether Madonna’s catalogue is more expensive to broadcast — which is entirely possible — I apologize that I can’t really speak to that. Might be why this is a limited-time thing — for the cross promo factor, perhaps Madonna is allowing more of her catalogue to be played for a reduced amount or something. But the royalties go to the writers, so she’s not the only party to be paid...

Possibly, they are thinking of making this full time by gauging how popular this limited time run is.  A nice thought, right? 🙂

I would like to see the analytics to determine if it has been successful enough to keep around! I really hope so 😞

They are really getting good coverage of her catalog - most 80s and 10s albums close to being played in their entirety - 90s and 00s albums (including I’m breathless) only getting 3-4 tracks played

Just got home and "live-blogging" playlist until bedtime (and just songs. I can't do her stories about songs justice):

Vogue  = Yay! Always Yaaaaay!

Crazy For You = Tearing up.

Like a Prayer = I always think I've heard this song enough until it plays. Guess that's a testament to M.'s unrelentingly awesome catalogue.

Spanish Lesson = And it's live, too! Crapping myself with joy. (Not really crapping. Joy is 100% tho)

Causing a Commotion = I haven't played this in 100 years. Neighbors will hate the volume I have this at. Fuck them—nicely 🙂

Rescue Me = My God, I am dying! This is one of her songs that told me something about myself I didn't know until I heard it. Or until she told me.

Angel = Perfection. Her voice is like honey.

Bitch I'm Loca = I'd fuck Maluma in so many ways, he'd need years of therapy to recover. 🙂

Into the Groove = If someone asked me to tell them who Madonna is and what she's about via her songs, this one would be top choice, or in the top. "Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free..."

Bedtime Stories = Perfect ending to this night. Amazing. Nellee Hooper (and Bjork, of course) + M. = a masterpiece that laid the ROL groundwork. Or werk. 🙂

Night, MNation. ❤️

Loving the clips talking about the songs. Thanks for the heads-up, y'all. :gent:

Is this the first time she's ever talked specifically about "I'll Remember"? (however brief) Re Steve Bra- she did mention him when talking about "Into the Groove," so I don't think saying Pat in the EY clip was intentional.

It also seems like most live versions are from the MDNA tour. Nothing from Drowned World, Reinvention, Confessions, Sticky...

I wish Music and Ray of Light were represented more overall.

From Sticky, I've heard the weird Music (where it segues into Live 8 for the ending/crowd sing along), Vogue, Borderline, Spanish Lesson, La Isla, Like a Prayer, and Ray of Light

Back when I was able to connect via web player - unfortunately not anymore, as it leads me to a login page, will not allow me to listen again somehow as I am not U.S. based - I heard some of the above more than once, like:

To Have and Not To Hold which was an absolute pleasant reminder of how beautiful a song that is; Drowned World/Substitute For Love and basically all of the ones I have bolded above from your post - I MISS LISTENING TO MADAMEX RADIO A LOT!

Nope. Heard three different songs from Reinvention. Heard a couple from confessions. And a ton from sticky. That's what's great about this station. Unless you're listening 24/7, you'll miss other stuff. They did a great job programming this station

She wrote LIB on the set of Shanghai Surprise in Hong Kong.

what? I thought it was a song Pat leonard had written, and he even sent it michael jakcson for his bad album, and he didn´t like it! I guess madonna changed something, but she didn´t write the song

i think they offered a backing track to MJ, who rejected it. Then Madonna wrote the lyrics and top melody.

Somebody correct me if im wrong.

I posted the wiki entry at the top of this page - the instrumental was offered to MJ as yes, she wrote the lyrics and melody which is what she item does.

That's the Venezuelan exclusive Madonna Mix EP from 1985. Side B.

Andy Cohen......is doing 2 hours on MADAME X radio in the next week...he begged them to do it (as he said on his radio show)....but he's fucking shady as fuck...he's been shading the album, the songs, her voice, her ass....and her World Pride performance...he gets on with Sandra Bernhard and they both laugh about her........then he says he's her biggest fan....

THE WORST.

I sent a dm to Guy Oseary to let him know...not sure if he reads it but her team should know how fucking evil he is towards her......and then talks about how much he loves her.
