Extreme Occident...way better than I thought from the initial teaser....the strings and piano are magical ....then the tribal drums come in 🥰

Is this the beats that Madonna posted as the “Static” sample on her IG stories back in October. Sounds almost Bollywood meets Jay-Z Big Pimpin’ beats? I’m asking because I haven’t heard Extreme Occident yet.

No, that's Come Alive I think.  Extreme Occident is from the initial album teaser video..but it goes off all tribal then she sings in Portugese(?)

Looking For Mercy really is a surprise...those icy synths...wow!

Extreme Occident is the heart of this album for me. Every album of Madonna's has a "heart" for me and for MX, it's this one.

I can't even describe the way it hits home for me... ugh, love love love... all her songs/albums come out at the PERFECT time in my life.

Thank you, M.

Strangely, I didn't think it sticks out when I heard it, but certain phrases and parts stick in my mind and I m hearing myself singing parts of it, though I haven't heard it too many times.

I really like it but the "Life is a circle.." part would be better if it didnt just repeat the same line over and over.

well... it's a circle you know ?

Actually I think that’s clever and it perfectly illustrates how life is a circle by repeating the same phrase

I get that but im just not a fan of lyrics that repeat. Its very common in music today to go to have a less "wordy" chorus. Just rather have more lyrics.

Hoping the song outweighs the lyrics I heard in the clip e.g, rhyming “lost” then “cost” then ending the line with “lost” 😩

I went to the far right

Then I went to the far left

I tried to recover my center of gravity

I guess I’m lost, I had to pay the cost

The thing that hurt me most, was that I wasn’t lost.

I came from the midwest

Then I went to the Far East

I tried to discover my own identity

I guess I’m lost, I paid a handsome cost

The thing that hurt the most, was that I wasn’t lost

I WASN’T LOST

No, I wasn’t lost, it was a different feeling

A mix of lucidity and craziness

But I wasn’t lost, believe me

I was right

And I’ve got the right

To choose my own life

Like a full circle

Life is a circle, life is a circle (repeated several times)

Portuguese  language verse:

Aquilo que mais magoa (what hurt the most)

E que eu nao estava perdida (was that I wasn’t lost)

Aquilo que mais magoa (what hurt the most)

E que eu nao estava perdida (was that I wasn’t lost)

Love the way she sings the "but I wasn't lost, believe me" line.

Yeah, this song sounds like she’s talking right to you, as if it’s a conversation set to music.
