MADAME X album reviews

Recommended Posts

I'd like to know, if all of these so called journalists are mostly giving 3 out of 5 to Madonna, what and whom in their infinite knowledge (sarcasm) would be worth 5 full fucking stars?

It's the same thing as rebel heart, she could have put a well reviewed album together, but when you throw things on there that everyone hates like killers, they have to take points off

I don’t think her goal is to put “a well reviewed album together”. I’m guessing her goal was to express herself creatively. And the album is receiving positive reviews.

I actually kinda agree with this. I think the deluxe edition crap is really unnecessary too.

make a 12 song album and call it a day. Or at least recognize when stuff like Mercy belongs on the album instead of Killers or Loca

Killers is one of my fav tracks on the album! THE track on the album that cements the Lisbon and Portuguese influences in the most amazing soundscape and production! The lyrics are abrasive but for a very specific reason! Irony is her brand!

I’m good with the different versions.  I’d rather have these songs released in their time and praised/criticized, then to have a posthumous album with unreleased tracks that are received and accepted because the artist is dead by the estate.

You better not touch Killers or Loca from my album bitch!

but i agree with the editions. there shouldn't be the standard edition with 13 tracks, the one with 15 should be the standard and the one with 18 the deluxe.

the standard editions feels incomplete without the 2 marvelous songs.

Killers is amazing despite some lyrics (other lines are just brilliant, like the chorus "The world is wild, the path is lonely" in portuguese). Also, it has one of the richest and most original productions on the album. It's evocative and intimate, melancholic and modern; a key song to understand what Madame X project is.

Looking for Mercy, on the other hand, is just a nice catchy ballad. It coud fit in any pop album.

I want all of them, it's just if you don't like them you have to deduct points.   (I've only heard the official ones)

The funny thing is, most people criticize MDNA, but they usually disagree on which songs are the best and which are the worst.

Perhaps. The music on that song is flawless. Madonna neutered it with her lyrics. Just my take. The lyrics elsewhere on the album are nothing short of brilliant. God Control, I Don't Search. Every album has a lyrical clunker. Shame it had to be that 1.

Yeah I don't wanna be too hard on Loca. It's fun. It's like the Spanish Lesson of the album. Obviously a playful little moment. And her and Maluma have chemistry like you wouldn't believe

Honestly thats the thing about Madame X... even the weaker songs are still really great. UGH I AM IN LUV

Slant review mentions that Killers lyrics could be in part inspired by the poem First They Came.  Madame X is a teacher indeed.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
