Clinton was impeached not for sexual acts, but for lying under oath about it. And in the end was not removed from office. So, sadly, lying under oath is OK. Now Trump just lies about everything...

Yes, I definitely simplified it with my comment in regard to Bill Clinton BUT imo, he should've never had the opportunity to lie under oath about it because he should've never been questioned to begin with.....well, not by anyone besides Hillary perhaps.

It's very funny to see the Republicans join in absolute solidarity over a man that has done nothing but lie since he's been in office. Funny how doing a "shake down" of sorts of a president of a foreign country in hopes to have them meddle in our election is somehow seen as the "right" thing to do. Shows how low we've plummeted.

Can i just say i do not like Trump at all but the economy is doing better. He has done some good even though his reteric(is that how u spell it? Lol. English isn’t my first language) is terrible and his views on most subjects are disgusting i don’t buy into this hollywood democratsic thing that he’s the worst thing ever.  Is he a pig? Yes.  Lol

also i am no political guy i follow it casually so i’m not one to speak.

The economy is doing well under Trump because Obama set him up for success. I can't begin to imagine the state of this country if Trump had been handed the mess Bush left behind. The economy stayed on a pretty steady incline during the entire Obama presidency. Trump should bow at Obama's feet (where he belongs) because "the economy" is the only jewel in "his" crown.

It's funny because I never hated Trump before this. His rotten, selfish attitude was perfect for reality TV....I found him quite funny actually. Too bad he didn't stay in his own lane. Politics isn't (well, wasn't) the place for that type of nonsense.

I also don't understand the Republicans motivation in this. I thought before 2016 they hated him (and he hated them). This could be their chance to get rid of him and get back control of their party. Thought they would love it if Pence took over. I guess theyre only supporting him because the polls still have them in front for the next election.

But still, impeachment was never a good idea, as he'll be able to say he was 'cleared' and it was all a witch hunt. Better to just keep the issue hot with the public up to election. They need to make voters think they were duped into voting for Trump in 2016 because of interference and propaganda, and are being duped again in 2020 through Trump's own actions. Nothing changes people's minds more than feeling stupid for thinking something. But now, Trump voters will just feel vindicated, and be angry that the deomcrats tried to undo their vote.

Agreed. As an economist, I can say that nearly all of Trumps policies are bad for the economy, so anything going well is because of other factors, and without Trump things would probably be even better.

There are factors extrinsic to Obama explaining why the Trump economy is so juiced, but they're not particularly good news, as they're measures the government usually keeps in its back pocket for periods of recession, like enormously increased amounts of deficit spending for stimulatory purposes and interest rates kept incredibly low rather than slowly brought back up to levels befitting a stronger economy (and public harassment of/threats against the Federal Reserve chair to keep it that way, along with a stated desire by Trump for negative interest rates at this point in time).

Treat a recovery period like a recession and the next recession will be delayed, but magnitudes worse and more prolonged than otherwise because the tool box has been emptied out rather than resupplied.

I don't think they're thinking beyond the Trump presidency (whether it be over next year or in 5 more yrs), they've completely sold themselves out for him at this point. It's more evident than ever now. It's ALL party over the good of the country for them so I think they'll do whatever they need to do to maintain the power they have. I can guarantee the true Republicans don't really like him at all, they tolerate him and I agree with you, due to his popularity with voters they will continue to do so. The damage they're causing be damned.....someone will just have to clean it up later as far at they're concerned. Doing the "right" thing is of no concern to them at this point.

Very rarely did I ever agree with a Republican policy but they did at least have integrity to their core beliefs (as fucked up as they may have been), even that has gone out the window now. Imagine a Republican like Trump in the party back in the 80's. He would've been booted out quicker than a ray of light.

Quantitative easing by the Federal Reserve is a fake fix that will collapse at some point. Basically fiat currency money from nothing...and chicks for free......

The Federal Reserve may be using quantitative easing to pump up the economy too.

The QE gimmick is the greatest scam ever, in the US and Europe alike. Printing money like there's no tomorrow. De facto just creating more debt and dependency. Then the powers that be decide to pull the plug and it's 2008 all over again, only ten times worse

Exactly. It’s fiat currency not backed by anything.

Mmm...K so WHY won't his f'king *approval #s plunge back into the 30s like his entire FIRST year when he actually wasn't as 24/7 off the rails bonkers, slurring, out in the OPEN lawless /anti democracy, had SOME semi competent people, and an equally rocking economy?!? I seriously believe there's more than enough stupid sheeple who are just desensitized and USED to it so just 'turn the other way', accept/agree w/ it enough etc...But it's all about in the *right places. Their internals must be showing they don't give a shit (or even know or care to know what an autocracy is). Whatever it is he (and ALL of it) is just getting worse yet the #s do.not.budge. I know he hasn't reached 50% but does.NOT need them (in those same right counties/states) & knows that. Only thing is guaranteed- every.ONE of the Cult 45 are coming out in Nov. every bit mob like/ fired up as 2016...maybe even more so!

Dems are a fluid disaster now. Like '16, watch those white soccer suburban moms (who are the 1st to say the hate him) but whose husbands LOVE his faux alpha macho bull$hit and intimidate them (primarily middle/upper class) white women in their Brady Bunch-esque gated communities and lifestyles saying that they'd lose it ALL to 'undesirables', market would tank etc etc...if a 'Socialist' gets in!

Anyone else a political nerd like me and watching any of drumpf’s Impeachment Trial? It’s turning into a freakin circus. Last night at least 12 GOP Senators left the chamber! At the start of the trial, the Sergeant At Arms said no talking and everyone must remain seated throughout the trial, unless during a recess, “under penalty of imprisonment”. Some more GOP and 1 Democratic Senator left. Nothing done about it. Chief Justice Roberts just sits there. Why have rules when none are followed? 🤬
