Guest eroticerotic Posted March 17, 2019 Share Posted March 17, 2019 guess im one of the few who LOVE Living For Love personally, I low key didn't like the bullfighter theme; too costumey and not iconic costumey like the cone bra, metal corset, or leotard for example. i low-key felt it turned off casual listeners. People nowadays are VERY influenced by visuals, especially with pop music. don't underestimate that! the leaks definitely hurt Rebel Heart, but I think it could have recovered with exceptional PR. unfortunately I felt it was mishandled. too reactive verses proactive. I don't know. If I were a huge pop-star and my album leaked, I probably would have rush released the entire thing. including a video. i'm sure an exceptional video director would have made last minute time for her. I would have then done "surprise" gigs. I would have made a personal video press release about it and encouraged people to legally stream and buy, and explain why. The material was strong enough. It just needed to be promoted happily. it would only mean an earlier first single as opposed to a later first single, really. but to each their own! it would have been a perfect opportunity to release a deluxe version with reimagined versions + demos from previous albums as incentive. hot instrumentals nowadays are not expensive and her name would be able to recover from expenses. I would even have gone into my photo archives and used personal exciting photos as single covers. u guys are right tho; her fan base lives for exclusives. she should work that angle for us but also, casual fans would be pleasantly surprised. She could have invited new Voguers and done new Voguing (that squatting/hand twirling type/perhaps a deathdrop) with a choir thrown in on some scenes , perhaps do the Versace 2015 campaign look. Too much time passed and then releasing the digital EP screwed up the charting. Also, bundling the album with the demos would have been a great idea. Her team around her does not care at all or is just incompetent and she seems ok with that. It's worrying. There were soooooooooooo many good songs on Rebel Heart. I felt that many of them were cinematic. I don't understand why the songs weren't licensed to TV, movies and video games. It would have been the perfect way of getting the music out there.
