jaron
Women accused of being WITCHES are tied to a tree and cruelly beaten alongside their husbands by Indian villagers Hundreds of spectators gathered to watch five women being lashed in woods They were thrashed with branches for allegedly practicing witchcraft in India Victims were unable to defend themselves because they were bound to a tree Incident happened in Madhupur village in Badasahi block of Mayurbhanj district http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5054299/Women-accused-WITCHES-tied-tree-beaten.html?ito=social-facebook __________________________________________________________ It really is sad, what kind of position women in India have. It seems to be, they dont have any rights, either they being raped by a gang of cruel monsters, or killed of honor destroying or being witches. It has to be done something there to enlighten the people, to make them sure women have rights and shouldnt be seen as (sex) objects. Though it seems very hard, since they have a very complicated socail system
elijah
What about women's rights in Saudi Arabia and the likes? Nothing is done for them too.
jaron
I think this thread should be called India: The role of the women Another tragic story of a woman: Indian mother is horrifically scarred and left breathing through a tube after her husband threw acid on her face 'because she got a job' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5100043/Mother-left-scarred-husband-hurled-acid-face.html?ito=social-facebook
Nick
Feel very sorry for them There’s still this superstitious crap in the world where women, old people, children, and all different type of outcasts get branded with accusations of witchcraft and even satanism. Similar to this situation they wind up getting tortured and sometimes killed. Don’t know how the international communities can help fight these reoccurrences because they’re deeply embedded in some cultures.
