For all of you who saw Madonna live, close up...

Recommended Posts

It was the EYES!

Like 2 big gemstones shining from meters away.

Unbelievable for me. It was indeed a spiritual experience.

I couldn't stop myself thinking: "this is the woman who made the Express Yourself video" "this is the woman who did the Blond Ambition Tour" "and she's right here in front of me"

I can't believe my luck of living in the same age as her AND getting to see her with my own eyes.

Surreal in a beautiful way. I remembered being in front row of RHT and during LAV I was so close to her and i reached my hands out screaming MADONNAAAAAAAA and she ' squinted ' her eyes at me for like 5 seconds ( felt like 5 years and I was so happy . Her eyes . It was like looking into pools of magic .

The first time for me was montreal 2008 for the sticky and sweet,

I started to really discover Madonna at 13 yo with confession. The hung up video when she walks in that black letter jacket, oh my god, I dreamt about this so much.

Then even if a lot of people criticize the tour, I mean the intro of S&S, the throne, the boots, her hair, the way she goes down the stairs, oh my god it was something. I got tears in my eyes just remember how my 16teen self was impress and at the beginning of the best journey of my life.

Second time MDNA TOUR quebec city, I was pretty far tho from the stage. 70 000 people outside, the energy was amazing.

and two times for the rebel heart tour. Got a mini meltdown waiting for ghosttown the first night, but the second one was the best, her energy was on top, she was sexy as fuck. I mean the music dress is one of her best look ever. Never saw her first row tho.

EDIT: add my view of the show

It was amazing seeing her so close. Couldn’t believe I was seeing her live in person. Had s very close view of her during second show, even though I couldn’t get into the show as much as I did on the first show with seats on the first level tier side view.

This thread was really interesting to read. I can relate to a lot of the stories here. I definitely had the "she's real" moment & there really is something about her eyes, especially when you're close enough for her to look at you. Seconds feel like years when she looks directly at you, it happened to me the first time I went to one of her concerts & it feels like she sees into you.

I'm also impressed every time with her stamina, she is doing a LOT & she is doing it so precisely.

With RHT especially, because she performed some of the back catalogue I found myself reflecting on my years as a fan & on her career & thinking about how amazing it is that this woman is still killing it.

In person Madonna exudes an energy that fills up the entire room. You don't have to be close to her to feel that, bitches in the nosebleeds still *get it*.

But when you get up close, you got a problem.  Cause then you get in its forcefield.

I think anyone who's been close knows this shit is so real.

The energy that the forcefield produces is life-altering. It recodes the DNA inside you.

It's palpable.  while still wholly intangible

It's both magnetic forces at once, it draws you in of course, but there is something repellant about it as well, because there is something about her presence that's intimidating and requires deference.

Life isn't the same afterwards . You leave a different person

Pretty much every time

You know what. I've seem Madonna close up several times. Seeing her towards the back of the arena is a better experience since you get to take in everything, including the audience.

She always looks 100 times better up close than she does in pictures. I mean I know even we go on about cheeks this and cheeks that but seeing her up close at RHT and having her sing Love Don't Live Here Anymore to me right into my face she looked absolutely stunning.

I don't want this to sound bad...

When I saw her near I thought "She looks older, but much better than in magazines or music videos". That's the impression I had. When I saw her you could see he isn't a young girl, she's a mature woman but looks incredible. Her eyes, her skin... I think she doesn't need all the make up and the fillers and all those things... Maybe with them she looks younger, but I think she's even more beautiful being natural... sometimes I see her very "artificial". I don't know how to explain it...

An example is when I saw her making the Prince tribute... It was like "Yes, she's beautiful but she looks strange" and two days after I saw pictures of her on an airport and, at least for me, she looked incredible, much, much better without all the make up and all those things.

And like most of you say, her eyes are incredible but what made me say "WOW!!!!!" was the way she moved, sexy, with style... it's really hard to explain it but it was incredible.

For me it was the Rebel Heart smile...she was grinning from ear to ear on the night I saw it and I was pretty close to the front. All of the last section was particularly audience friendly and she was radiating love and warmth the whole night.

the best I can compare her with are those really talented modern/classical female dancers. they move just like M. so fluent. they have a talent us normal folk don't have which is the awareness of their body, it's their instrument.. and every movement is deliberate (yet looks natural) and they know exactly how we see them.

YES!!! This is the perfect way to describe.  Every move she makes, she knows EXACTLY how she looks and how we perceive her.  I always say no one can descend a staircase like she can (Express Yourself 89 VMA's, Hollywood 2003 VMA's, and Future Lovers CT are the highlights).  She KNOWS how amazing she is when she does it. She turns her body into a moving, living piece of art.  It's mesmerizing.

I'll just reiterate what others have said, too.  Very tiny, incredibly beautiful, extremely intimidating.  It's like locking eyes with God.  You almost want to look away.  I was most struck by how she looks exactly like she does in pictures.  Which is why I hate to see pics where she's been photoshopped like crazy because it's SO not needed.  Anyway, she's just... like no one else.
