In your opinion, which setlists had the best oldies (songs from previous albums) and the best newbies (from the current album)?

Oldies - BAT

Iconic Oldies include

  1. Causing a Commotion (Including Donna & Nikki smackdown ad-libs)
  2. Like a Virgin (duh)
  3. Live to Tell (Bonus if we include Vatican Speech edit in Truth or Dare)
  4. Material Girl (In the most adorably terrible accent ever)
  5. Into the Groove (with all the crazy Safe Sex ad-libs)
  6. Holiday - Polka-Dot bellbottoms never looked better!

Newies - Confession Tour

Iconic newies include

  1. Future Lovers / I feel Love (Best Tour Opening tied with MDNA GGW)
  2. Get Together (a gem that needs a performance again)
  3. Forbidden Love (Loved the simplicity of it all)
  4. Let it will be - FTW
  5. Acoustic guitar versions of Drowned World and Paradise
  6. You Thrill Me (It's a non-released single, and thus I deem it a newie because she officially birthed it on tour with the most epic production)
  7. Hung Up closing!

Oldies - Hands down RHT. If not for Deeper and Deeper and True Blue ALONE.

Newbies - Confessions.

I adore the RHT and the experience I had at it was incredible, but she truly performed the WEAKEST album tracks from that album. Iconic, Heartbreak City, and Body Shop ALL should have been replaced.

I wish she would've opened with Hold Tight. Substituted Body Shop with Inside Out and Heartbreak City should've been replaced with Ghosttown.

Oldies: Re-Invention Tour in terms of song selection, Confessions Tour in terms of arrangements

Newbies: Confessions Tour because the setlist omitted only two songs from the album it was  associated with

I think these pol should start only after dwt

+1

That Blond Ambition isn't at or near the top of this list despite featuring all five "LAP" singles and both "IB" singles (plus two other "IB" tracks) and notching brilliant, stunning, and (for most of them) iconic and definitive live renditions of each suggests people aren't considering was new at the time of each of these tours.

Name me any tour that has as many definitively iconic performances of then-new songs as BA's "Express Yourself," "Like a Prayer," "Oh Father," "Vogue" and "Keep it Together."

I think this topic works better if you do a breakdown of each tour. So before you vote remember...

The Virgin Tour:

Oldies: Holiday, Everybody, Borderline, Lucky Star, Burning Up

Newbies: Dress You Up, Into the Groove, Angel, Gambler, Crazy for You, Over and Over, Like a Virgin, Material Girl.

Who's That Girl:

Oldies: Lucky Star, Medley: Dress You Up, Material Girl & Like a Virgin, Into the Groove, Holiday

Newbies: Open Your Heart, True Blue, Papa Don't Preach, White Heat, Causing a Commotion, The Look of Love, Where's the Party, Live to Tell, La Isla Bonita, Who's That Girl.

Blond Ambition:

Oldies: Open Your Heart, Causing a Commotion, Where's the Party, Like a Virgin, Live to Tell, Papa Don't Preach, Material Girl, Into the Groove, Holiday.

Newbies: Express Yourself, Like a Prayer, Oh Father, Sooner or Later, Hanky Panky, Now I'm Following You, Cherish, Vogue, Keep It Together.

Girlie Show:

Oldies: Vogue, Express Yourself. Like a Virgin, I'm Going Bananas, La Isla Bonita, Holiday, Everybody.

Newbies: Erotica, Fever, Rain, Deeper and Deeper, Why's It So Hard, In This Life, Bye Bye Baby, Justify My Love.

Drowned World:

Oldies: Human Nature *, Secret *, La Isla Bonita, Holiday.

Newbies: Drowned World / Substitute for Love, Impressive Instant, Candy Perfume Girl, Beautiful Stranger, Ray of Light, Frozen, Nobody's Perfect, Mer Girl, Sky Fits Heaven, I Deserve It, Don't Tell Me, Gone, Lo Que Siente La Mujer, Music.

* As we know, it was her first time touring since Erotica so those two were toured for the first time. However, in the context of her career, those songs certainly belonged to a previous "chapter", pre ROL, and pretty much felt like oldies in the context.
