SAMANTHA FOX – PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM: THE FOX BOX
2CD + 2DVD Box Set
Cherry Pop FOXBOX 001
Released 28th July 2017

Available to pre-order now @ http://bit.ly/thefoxbox

PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM: THE FOX BOX is the long-awaited, first-ever definitive retrospective of Samantha Fox’s musical career to date. Marking three decades since this undisputed icon of the 80s first topped the world’s charts. this lavish 2CD + 2DVD box set is replete with a fold-out double-sided poster, a set of button badges and a picture-packed 32-page booklet. This is an essential package for Sam’s army of Foxy fans and all self-respecting aficionados of 80s pop culture.

The definitive Samantha Fox singles collection, CD1 brings together every single released during her phenomenally successful Jive Records tenure for the very first time. From the unforgettable 1986 smash ‘Touch Me’ to the Stock Aitken Waterman favourite ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me Now’ and the Full Force classic ‘Naughty Girls’, the succession of global hits which made Sam the only British female to score a hat-trick of Top 10s on both sides of the Atlantic during the 80s are all present and correct. Successes from the years since, including the dance floor favourite ‘Santa Maria’ and an irresistible cover of Blondie’s ‘Call Me’ with fellow 80s icon Sabrina, bring the story up to date. An exclusive, previously unheard bonus track, ‘You’ve Got Me Believing In Make Believe’, direct from Sam’s personal archive, rounds out the selection.

CD2 features many sought-after and previously unavailable rarities from throughout Sam’s career. Always eclectic and never just a ‘model-turned-singer’, she convinced as a rock chick one moment and a trend-setting dance diva the next. Here, her choice of collaborations ranging from legendary space rockers Hawkwind to acid house pioneer DJ Pierre sit alongside covers of favourite acts such as The Beatles, Donna Summer and ABBA. With B-sides, remixes, an updated take on ‘Touch Me’ and another exclusive track, ‘It’s You’, there is plenty to discover for diehard fans and newcomers alike.

PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM also boasts all of Sam’s classic videos to date, many of them on DVD for the very first time. In the age of MTV, Sam’s early success as a model immediately translated to the small screen in a series of memorable promos, helping to consolidate her chart success worldwide. DVD1 gathers together Sam’s iconic original videos, with DVD2 featuring additional rare footage, including the seldom-seen early video ‘Rockin’ With My Radio’, extended and alternative takes, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

Sam is currently putting the finishing touches to her autobiography and a long-awaited new studio album. Following Cherry Pop’s bestselling Deluxe Edition reissues of her four Jive studio albums, ‘Touch Me’, ‘Samantha Fox’, ‘I Wanna Have Some Fun’ and ‘Just One Night’, we are delighted to continue our successful partnership with one of the best-loved British pop artists of the 80s.

I read it this morning in Facebook and i was hyperventilating

So great. I so wanted to have all the collection in DVD (don't know why, because i really got into streaming really fast and I'm so lazy to go and put my dvds. need an assistant to do it like Gorgol).

And ALL the videos are there, even the elusive The Reason is You. So great! " You’ve Got Me Believing In Make Believe" is a new song, right? I don't know it!

Well, and she has her autobiography ready and a new album soon.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

QUEEN.

Before I discovered Madonna, Sam was my pop girl when I was like 8 years old.

This release is unnecessary though. They finally put the I Wanna Have Some Fun album on Spotify, but they need get their shit together and add Just One Night!

It is necessary. At least the DVD part.

What do you mean about Just One Night?  It is in my Spotify.

Does Spotify have different content depending on the countries?

I've always liked Samantha.  But I just don't see myself buying this....much less listening/watching it a lot.  Guess I'm not that much of a fan.?

Yeah I'm in the U.S. and I don't see it. I only recently saw that they added I Wanna Have Some Fun.

Love a lot of her 80's stuff also.  Matter of fact, I guess the reason I'm hesitant is because when I was 17, I got busted shoplifting her cassette (the one with Touch Me) at Wal-Mart and had to spend the day in jail.  Mom & Dad were not happy!!!  I'd actually BUY it now, but she left a bad taste in my mouth.....I blame Samantha that I got caught!!!  :chuckle:

Love that Confession has made its way on there. Such an amazing song. Very Mylene Farmer-esque :inlove:

Many of her album tracks are even better than the singles.  Confession Walking On Air,  Hot For You, Dream City...

Her 1987 self-titled album is one of my favorite albums ever. I Surrender, Dream City, That Sensation, If Music Be The Food Of Love, True Devotion, and...of course...Naughty Girls. The album version of NG is far superior to the radio edit.

SAMANTHA FOX IS SUCH A WILD DAME

HUH, BUT WHAT'S IN A NAME?

S-S-S-S-SAMANTHA S-S-S-S-S-SAMANTHA FOX!

I love "Confession."

She could have been a bigger star, but her fourth album flopped and that was it. "Hurt Me Hurt Me" is fun/campy, but I think "Don't Wait Up" would have had a better shot in the U.S.

She was already damned. No pop starlet survied the BIG REAP that was the year 1992.

Only Madonna ever surfaced globally.

And Kylie in a far lesser extent. The rest... lost forever.

It's interesting to me that she had such a different list of hits in the UK and the US. In the US, her three big hits were "Touch Me," "Naughty Girls" and "I Wanna Have Some Fun." In the UK, it was "Touch Me," "Do Ya Do Ya (Wanna Please Me)" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now." The only overlap was "Touch Me" - and "I Only Wanna Be with You" was a moderate hit in both countries. I'm guessing it's because Stock Aitken Waterman were bigger in the UK and Full Force (who produced "Naughty Girls" and "I Wanna Have Some Fun") were big in the US...

Now do a Kim Wilde comparison (whom I love just as much)

It is weird too the peaks of her singles in the UK compared to the rest of Europe.  In the UK she never got passed the nude girl model whereas in Europe she was recognised as a pop singer.
