MADONNA REWIND: "Hung Up" at the EMAs

Recommended Posts

The impact. Some of you newer, post-HC era fans will probably not realise the impact

I mean, you don't even understand. The horse fall. The drama. Post-AL era. Live 8. Motorolla. The sling. ReVULVA premiere etc. etc. etc.

This was just too much. An explosion. An assault on the senses. EVERYTHING

This was everywhere the next day. I remember waiting on my Mom to come out of surgery at the hospital and seeing it on tv in the waiting area. The morning hosts were raving about her performance and how amazing she looked.

The first time I watched her performance live on TV. This and the COADF promo campaign turned me into a fan and my life was never the same again.:queenbitch:

Plus the comment Robbie Williams made later on in the show. Loved it!

The beginning of a new world domination of the one and only Queen!!!

It was such a worldwide event.

I think this was when Ali G made the a "funny" remark that I found so disrespectful only to find later that they were friends...

We were so proud of her!

I wonder if Madonna had any idea that this song would be such an epic sized global hit?  Shame America was still a handful of years away from embracing dance music from pop chicks again because it probably could have been a #1 here.  Sadly radio was steeped in nothing but hip hop at the time but the fact that this song and video was still able to ram it's way through and make such an impact in the states with so many odds stacked against it shows what an iconic track it truly was/is.

The impact can't be understated. It made her an icon to a whole new generation of fans. It's my favorite award show performance by her.

She had another mini-peak in 2005/2006.

The Confessions album was highly influencial in bringing pop dance back to the popular.

No words to describe how amazing this performance was.

Just watched it again and got goosebumps. It happens every time I watch it. Confessions is perfection.

Mini peak?

Hung Up was bigger than Vogue (and that's really saying something).

It was live and the first performance of Hung Up. The crowd went nuts! The perfomance so iconic: Disco ball, outfit, choreo, dancers, lightning...it was perfect.

When I said mini peak i meant it was another massive return to commercial/critical success.

Vogue is a lot more iconic and important to Madonna than Hung Up.....I don't think Hung Up was bigger than Vogue.
