Just curious if you guys had a choice would you rather (and be satisfied) for to Luis tie or lose #1 and have Rihanna get that 1 week at #1 to get closer to Mooria? Was almost gonna start a poll but truly isn't worth the time/energy lol This is assuming Taylor shows up with the goods. If she doesn't we know what may happen.

16 weeks is 50/50 because TS releasing new song on 25/8

If Taylor releases on Friday, it won't effect the likely 16th week at #1 (that week takes data from the 18th to the 24th) ,

50/50? lol How? 8/25 is Friday. Brand new chart week. Even if she released on Thursday it still wouldn't in any way be possible for her to debut close to #1. 'Maybe' lower end of the Hot 100- that's all.

I thought 25 Aug is Thursday :rotfl:

But on the other hand, I would prefer TS to release it on Thursday (highly unlikely due to sales tracking period) so that her download won't be that massive on its 1st week and 17 weeks #1 for D will stand a higher chance.

So it's confirmed: new Taylor single this Friday. Bye 17th week. Why does she have to ruin everything? As if the world needed more reasons to dislike the Gwyneth of Pop.

I'm curious what kind  of total points (sales, streams etc..) Taylor will need to debut at #1. Unfortunately, since Luis is falling like a rock on airplay and so so with sales, assuming it'll be cake walk for Taylor or basically anyone (esp a big name now) to get #1.

Sales: 35-45%

Airplay: 30-40%

Streaming: 20-30%

HERE COMES TAYLOR

With signs pointing to new Taylor Swift music soon, buzzers are buzzing about the rollout.

Anyone who has heard any of Taylor's new music, incidentally, is said to be bound by an ironclad NDA enjoining them from discussing it in any way. Those closest to the artist are fond of saying that "The first rule of Taylor Club is don't talk about Taylor Club."

Here's a working theory.

We believe the single will go wide to radio and all DSPs on Friday, in the vicinity of her preferred drop time in the past ("Shake It Off" rolled out 8/18/14; "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" on 8/13/12). We further suspect that the video will premiere during the 8/27 VMA broadcast, but based on Taylor's long-standing relationship with Apple Music it's possible that the clip will be exclusive there. Rumor has it there will be a new series of Apple-sponsored TV spots starring Swift.

Will the full-length, likely coming in late October per Tay tradition, be available on all streaming platforms, including Spotify? The latter streamery contends it offers all comers two weeks of premium-only streaming to new releases before they go on its ad-supported free tier; could Taylor be the first major act to exploit this or even claim a longer honeymoon behind the paywall?

In all likelihood, the album plan will unfold organically as the single progresses in the marketplace. In any event, Taylor is firmly in control of every aspect of the process.

Maybe TS 1st week streaming will not be as massive as her 1st week sales if TS decides to do the Apple Music exclusive.

Ratio changes from week to week to prevent opportunists (e.g. Tommy Mottolla & Pariah in the 90 & 00) from exploring the chart.

Aug. 05 - Streaming 48.47% | Airplay 33.08 | Sales 18.45
Aug. 12 - Streaming 48.02% | Airplay 35.40 | Sales 16.58
Aug. 19 - Streaming 47.74% | Airplay 36.47 | Sales 15.79
Aug. 26 - Streaming 50.41% | Airplay 34.98 | Sales 14.60

even if Taylor sells 200k in digital sales , and her streamings are so high , it won t be enough to beat Despacito , her airplay won t be above 60 m , for her 1st week

Massive sales will compensate those airplay chart points.

TS "WANEGBT" sold 623K (Red studio album) on its first week.

"Shake It Off" sold 544K (1989 studio album) on its first week.

The 50 shades single underperformed and sold only 155K on its first week but it's a soundtrack single and promo was not as massive as the previous 2 lead singles.

yeah only hope here is the song is in/around IDWLF kind of quality and impact. Totally underwhelming. Unlikely though cause of the hype that it won't sell 200k even if it's a turd :/. Only hope is if that it falls the week after to #2 or #3 and Luis 'somehow' gets that 1 more week at #1. But Cardi I think may prevent that in the next few weeks even if Taylor bombs.

You know her fans & the non-fans will eat it up anything new from TS.

I secretly hope her new song is mediocre like JB's new song.

And why does everyone (including most of the lambs) think Cardi will dethrone D?

Current Airplay:
D: 155m
Cardi: 52m

Current Streaming:
D: 18.22m (2 version - 16.8m + 1.42m)
Cardi: 2.5m

Current iTunes:
D: #1 & #18
Cardi: #11

I mean like how?
