Songs You Would Like Madonna To Cover.

24 posts in this topic

These are the only ones I could think of right now:

Puttin' On The Ritz - I can see Madonna performing this as a one off at a charity gala or something. I see her performing it a little like how Fred Astaire did.

Angel by Massive Attack - This would literally sound like Heaven. This song sounds like it could be from the Ray of Light sessions.

Diamonds And Pearls by Prince - I really want to see this! It would be so dreamy. She should have performed this when she did the tribute.

Mostly since the oriignal sounds so much like her anyway, it'd be interesting to see how it would sound from her voice nowadays.

Madonna covering another artists songs has always seemed.... off to me. I don't know how to articulate it or put my finger on it. Unless she completely deconstructs it and makes it her own (American Pie, I Want You) or pays tribute or homage (Rebel, Rebel, La Vi en Rose) it's just hard for me to see her EVER making it a habit of covering another artists work. I feel the same way about her duets too.

BUT, there are songs that would be interesting to see her take on or even mash up with one of her own:

  1. All She Wants To Do Is Dance (Don Henley)
  2. Too Funky (George Michael)
  3. Bizarre Love Triangle (New Order)
  4. Brass In Pocket (the Pretenders)
  5. Miss You (the Rolling Stones)
  6. Lovesong (the Cure)
  7. Pull Up to The Bumper (Grace Jones)

I've always wanted M to cover a Carpenters song....maybe Goodbye To Love?  Or I could see her doing Please Mr. Postman or some old songs from the 50's 60's era with a twist.

I would love to hear Madonna sing  "Thinking of you"  which was done by Katy Perry.  I love Katy singing pop but not ballads and think Madonna would nail that song completely. It is such a sad but passionate ballad - she does those better than anyone.

Leather and Lace by Stevie Nicks and Don Henley if she could find a cool guy to sing with!  I know they are very different but I always put her and Stevie together because theirs were the first albums I ever bought!

Her voice would always suit Sinead songs any would be amazing. :inlove:

Also Stronger by the Sugababes (total massive attack /orbit sound back in the day) but with just her voice layered wouldve been amazing. You know it.

I actually would like to hear this! That's my favorite ballad from Kaitlin.

Won't be choosy:inlove:. Whatever her audacious heart sparks her to croon next will support her 100%. Good Lord she has knocked every conceivable cover thus far out of the ballpark from Rose Royce's Love Don't Live Here Anymore, Eartha Kitt's Fever, Marvin Gaye's I Want You, and Don McLean's American Pie to jot down a few.

Personally believe with many of the cover's she has been on par if not better than her respective predecessors. Again that statement is a bit subjective being a fan.

That's a real heard one. I like her covering songs I don't know like Between The Bars and I'm pretty sure I heard her version of American Pie first. I'm not keen on her covering well known songs like Imagine and La Vie En Rose though......so I don't know really.
