But why its Work ID is like her recent songs and different from the STR ones?

You'll See:                   Work ID: 550177816

Iconic:                         Work ID: 888208360
Illuminati:                    Work ID: 887964906
You'll Stay:
Work ID: 880388048

I believe You'll Stay belongs to the STR era...

It probably ended up as You’ll See in its final form, but that’s just a guess

I was looking at Madonna's info in the ASCAP site (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) and there's a song called You'll Stay, that have Patrick Leonard and Madonna as writers, and she as a performer. It's the only unreleased Madonna song in the list. And its work ID number is closer to her recent songs. For example:

Impressive Instant:    Work ID: 392072498
Iconic:                          Work ID: 888208360
Illuminati:                    Work ID: 887964906
You'll Stay:
Work ID: 880388048

Also, its ISWC ( (International Standard Musical Work Code) is one of the few that says Not Assigned. And a search at Google only show 1 result in a lyrics website. There are no lyrics, but at least someone updated its title recently, in 16/10/2017.

What's this song?

But then there’s this fact so I have no idea

Patrick Leonard is not credited on You'll See. And neither is Foster on You'll Stay.

No idea...but Bruce Baron's unreleased songs list was compiled many years ago so it's definitely not new...

Shep wasn't credited in the Bedtime Stories songs at first, Stephen Bray wasn't credited in Everybody and so on. Could still be an early version of You'll See.

For everybody they made a deal (according to Bray in goldmine) she kept the rights for everybody as the sole writer and he kept the rights for ain't no big deal as the sole writer for it.

Yes. After she published it without crediting him.

Like a Virgin is also an early version of Like A Prayer.

But the first time it was rumored was for Veronica Electronica. It was scrapped and then included in her first album.

Thing is they both are tracks from the Something to Remember era.

"Something's Coming Over Me" by Madonna and Shep Pettibone became "Secret" by Madonna and Dallas Austin. "I Will Always Have You" by Madonna and Shep Pettibone became "Inside of Me" by Madonna, Dave Hall and Nellee Hooper.

It is possible a song called You'll Stay could become You'll See a few weeks afterwards in a different writing session that same year.

I'm not the one who suggested it in the first place but it can happen.

I suggested it, and that’s how I was thinking. I just didn’t think it was that far fetched  🤷🏻‍♀️

I guess the critical difference with those two examples is that the alternate titles are actual lyrics within the songs. You’ll Stay is neither a lyric in You’ll See nor fits thematically in a song about a woman asserting her independence from a lost love...just sayin’.

The weird thing is that it was included in the catalogue with numbers near Illuminati. Does anybody know what tha mean? Does it mean it was registered back then in 2014?

Imagine Madonna was already working on a track with Pat back then and we had now idea? It may have been the time when that person from One Republic got on board too.
