Rebel Heart Tour DVD/Blu-ray: RELEASE DATE September 15th

Ofc it makes sense. Nowadays the boxing is one of the few arguments to buy a physical release. Why else would I spend more money on physical media instead of getting it digital for a cheaper price?

I have bought the RH Super Deluxe and also the So Rebel Photobook, because I just love the visuals. Everything was put together so nicely. And Madonna is unarguably a visual artist. If it was solely about the songs, I could've bought the iTunes version and be good. There's a reason why vinyl sales have increased significantly over the last few years. Or to give a more recent example: just look at Beoynce's One Year Anniversary box set for Lemonade. That thing sold out within a couple of hours and she made roughly $3.5m with it. I doubt anyone, who hadn't owned that album before anyway, spent those $3,000 on a box set. High quality and stunning visuals can be a reason to buy after all.

Yes, but Rebel Heart contained new music that wasn't previously released so I can see why the design might encourage you to buy the physical over the digital. But why do people want to buy a box set or a reissue of something that they already have in a physical format just because of new artwork? It doesn't make sense to me. Seems like a waste of money.

Some people always buy physical because of the better sound quality not because of the artwork. In fact, I've read comments from fans of other artists that they will only buy cd's and vinyl and not digital for that reason. They get mad when artists only release for example singles on digital for that reason.

I'd pick this as the DVD/Blu Ray cover picture
it's gorgeous :inlove:

Yes and no. Technically all the songs had surfaced online long before the official release. Speaking for myself, I didn't get any new content (since I had already DLed the songs) other than the gorgeous box. As in Beyonce's case, I understand that the majority would not be willing to spend that much money on a re-issue, however I just picked that example to show how much visuals (as in Beyoncé's case the coffee table book) can push sales, if done properly.

Lbr, 95% of the people jerking off over HiFi sound don't even have the technical instruments to play true HiFi sound. Especially since so many people listen to music via headphones, over car speaker or whatever, which do not support HiFi sound.

Nope, asides from the sound quality reason, the very few people still buy physical copies because we're collectors who love holding the music in physical possession and the aesthetics (artwork, package etc.) is a big part of it. M can easily put out a nicely packaged boxset with PROFESSIONAL design (see the Lemonade boxset), sell it for $500 and I believe she still has at least 5000 hardcore loons WW who would still buy that, and that's like making $2.5M, which is the profit of selling 300K albums. Most of her stans are gays and let's be real we're all about design, aesthetics and good looking stuff. S&S/MDNAT had "bad" covers but they didn't really bother me, but this one? I really don't want THAT anywhere near my home.

btw, I can't wait to hear BIM, True Blue, LAV, Candy Shop and Material Girl in HQ. :queenbitch:

I wonder why this release is being distributed by Eagle Vision and not Interscope? Is it because her Live Nation contract is finished? It's a bit weird...

But they have been releasing numerous concerts on their Standard Definition Bluray range, so could this be an indicator we are getting other concerts released by them???

there's a lot of thought and work that goes into the design and packaging of a product, and there's clearly a good reason for that
it can capture the attention of potential buyers and help to sell it (besides giving fans and collectors their money's worth)

it's like working your ass off at the gym to have a hot body and then cover it up with an ugly dress.... what's the point??

Madonna's always had mostly mediocre packaging of her main releases and not much in the way of extra 'special' edition items throughout her career to be honest.

I mean we haven't even got a box set and she's 30+ years into her career! The best we get is when Warners 'reissue' selections from her studio albums into a cardboard box (minus artwork). The biggest irony of it all being how much money there is to be made given how loyal and fervently zealous her collectors are  :lmao:

WE NEED A GOOD, EXPANSIVE BOX SET...most definitely.

Perfectly stated.

She's like Prince in 1997 now.

The quality of Prince's artwork also got really weird for a while there too...

Be careful what you wish for with those box sets... she'll probably choose Aldo to do the career spanning visuals for everything!

With all the fans she has that make mock ups of her tour releases (some of them are extraordinary) she chooses something so LQ and amateur. I get it, maybe she's trying to support people to further themselves however, excusing the poor execution of it does not deserve to be recommended. I can take the BIM cover for being wacky and crazy as the song is itself however, the tour which sported some of the best visuals along with the album campaign is being reduced to a photoshopped Brit award photo with a caped tacked on instead of horns, mirrored minotaur (the same person) and a stolen Wonder Woman background.

She simply could have used the album cover, a throwaway shot unseen from the photoshoots she did, a selfie from the crowd (similar to the Sorry single cover) or even had a fan competition among web designers (to be) to help craft her live release instead she goes for unimaginative, tacky and low-rent work. I will never understand how her quality when it comes to releases and her management has taken such a slip lately.

This cover art is a little tragic, to be honest.

I totally agree that it's the diehard fans who will buy it. This is why I don't understand why she doesn't produce Special Edition versions with exclusive extras, poster, postcards, goodies etc. We will buy it!

I completely agree. With the amount of unreleased material, demos, remixes, live performances etc, you'd think she'd slap on a few tracks and some fancy packaging. I just got the Ray of Light Limited Edition and Music Limited Edition. The packaging is amazing for both. So beautifully done. American Life Limited Edition was gorgeous as well and included a stamp sheet and awesome poster. All of this has been lacking lately. :-(

The cover is OK, but isn't it just a placeholder for now?

I suspect its Guy who has got close with this fan and thinks its a great way to save money. Madonna does not care about that anymore and unfortunately if Madonna is told lots of fans hate it she will do it even more to be a rebel!!

It's nowhere including madonna.com. Except that strange press release coming from Netherlands or France or somewhere. It's strange.
