Don't you DARE call me, Hillary.

If I were Hillary I would've told him to shut the FUCK up during the debate. It'd get massive coverage and there's no such thing as bad press, so I'd be President.

But no, I'm not Hillary and we got Alicia Machado instead.

 What a Hillary!

I come from a different school...

The constant parallels made between Trump and Hitler are truly frightening.

I think a lot of us were brought up to believe that all the horrible disgusting things that have happened throughout literally ALL of history are somehow behind us and that they couldn't possibly happen again. Especially not in the "greatest" country of the world.

The possibility of the rise of a new Hitler should never be ruled out. We should always remain vigilant. Of course Hitler had already tried unsuccessfully to overthrow the government of Germany (Weimar Republic) ten years before ascending to the position of chancellor (1923/1933); was convicted and jailed, providing him with some "quiet time" to put in black and white his raging antisemitism and his maniacal view of the world in his book Mein Kampf. Then, there were of course the Hitler Jugend, various paramilitary organizations, etc. When Hitler took power, I don't believe there were widespread protests like now with Trump. People ARE vigilant now. Hitler used the burning of the Reichstag as a pretext for taking ABSOLUTE power.

Trump should be and will be watched closely. Again, vigilance and holding him to account is important. But comparing him to Hitler... I've seen these side by side comparisons of Hitler and Trump. It states that both of them wanted to deport people. Well, Obama deported millions during his tenure. Trump can be called a populist. But comparing him to Hitler...... If people want to persist in identifying the rise of a new Hitler.....they would find a better fit in Mr. Erdogan, President and strongman of Turkey.

I still think Trump is just a troll, clown attention whore who truly got into this for...more attention. Never ever took it seriously like Hillary did. For the 100th time Im way more concerned w/ all the off the chart lunatics he's surrounding himself who are NOT playing, do want the power, and  know exactly what he is. Even Putin almost gave up on Trump went after the Kahns lol  Some of you need to think about if you'd ultimately prefer Pence 'cause that's who everyone is getting is something happens to Trump. You all think Pence would've answered the question about gays, abortion or even Obamacare the same semi tolerant way on 60 minutes last night? :# lol

True, but the point I was making was this notion all over the media that Trump's laughed at, crazy campaign policies wouldn't fly should he get the presidency... "so we thought we'd give him a chance anyway" will be interesting to see play out. Will they or won't they?

@XXL :lmao:I'll let Asia know, she'll be pleased.

Jokes apart, I seriously doubt the average Trump voter has any clue about the (alarmingly depressing) similarities between Donald Trump and Silvio Berlusconi, let alone the rise of power cause for either of them ;)

Watched those Sarandon clips too a while back, regardless of how unpopular her stance was I do agree with most of the things she said.

Oh and I did agree with Bernie Sanders too on the Kissinger point he raised against Clinton, fucking hell!

Thanks for the input XXL, always a pleasure to read your eloquently elaborate analysis.

Republicans Stole the Supreme Court

Democrats, don’t let them get away with it.

Supreme Court

We are already hearing from Republicans and Democrats in leadership positions that it is incumbent on Americans to normalize and legitimize the new Trump presidency. We are told to give him a chance, to reach across the aisle, and that we must all work hard, in President Obama’s formulation, to make sure that Trump succeeds. But before you decide to take Obama’s advice, I would implore you to stand firm and even angry on this one point at least: The current Supreme Court vacancy is not Trump’s to fill. This was President Obama’s vacancy and President Obama’s nomination. Please don’t tacitly give up on it because it was stolen by unprecedented obstruction and contempt. Instead, do to them what they have done to us. Sometimes, when they go low, we need to go lower, to protect a thing of great value.

The seat that became vacant when Antonin Scalia died earlier this year was blocked by the Republican party for 9 months for reasons that were transparently false from the outset. At first the senators obstructed the president’s pick of moderate Merrick Garland because they claimed Obama was a “lame-duck president” with only a year remaining in his term, and the “people” should be allowed, for the first time in history, to decide for themselves. Later, the reasons for obstruction changed when Senate Republicans began to run on the promise to block any nominees put forward by a Democratic president. Virtually all of those senators won their seats back on the strength of that pledge. Smart guys.

For Republicans, keeping the Supreme Court conservative was more urgent than governance or leadership or an independent judiciary. To reward that by meeting President Trump halfway on his nominees is not sober statesmanship. It’s surrender. Senate Republicans are already crowing that they can have a Justice Ted Cruz named in the coming days and seated by February. They can. But it is not his seat.

The only proper response from progressives today must be that Donald Trump is a lame-duck president with only four years left in his term, and we must let the people decide the next justice for the Supreme Court. Less fatuously, it must be to obstruct the nomination and seating of any Trump nominee to fill Scalia’s seat. We will lose. But that’s not the point now. Democrats need to repeat Ted Cruz’s lie that eight justices will suffice. If Democrats can muster the energy to fight about nothing else, it should be this, because even if you believe the election was fair or fair enough, the loss of this Supreme Court seat was not. That seat is Merrick Garland’s.

To reiterate, there is absolutely nothing procedural to be done about SCOTUS now. Put aside the Kickstarters and the viral petitions to demand a seat for Garland because an argument was floated that the GOP’s failure to hold hearings represented a waiver by Senate Republicans, leaving Obama free to fill the seat. The waiver idea has been roundly debunked across the ideological spectrum. Save your energy. If Merrick Garland is to be seated in the coming weeks at the Supreme Court it will be by way of an Obama recess appointment, if there is a recess, and in that case he will be seated for a year and no more. It will all be a grotesque spectacle, demeaning the players and diminishing and compromising the public esteem for the court. A recess appointment would be the kind of stunt-nomination Obama has eschewed throughout his presidency, guaranteed to embarrass the executive and Judge Garland, who deserved to have us fight for him long before now. But it would at least be a symbol that tantrum can be met with tantrum, and that Democrats will not be rolled. So that’s one option. It’s not a fix. But at least it’s not a capitulation.

Another option, just in case President Trump decides against uniting America by renominating Judge Garland in January: Senate Democrats should filibuster whomever Trump picks. Perhaps Trump will nominate his own Harriet Miers. His sister the judge or his daughter the clothing designer or white nationalist Steve Bannon or Peter Thiel. The “list” of 21 possible nominees from his website, posted to convince conservatives before Election Day that Trump’s general apathy about the courts could be harnessed for the goals of the Heritage Foundation, appears to have been taken down now. Who knows what he plans to do?

Anyway, If Senate Democrats attempt to filibuster, Senate Republicans will probably just kill the filibuster for Supreme Court seats, as they have already promised to do, and as Democrats only last week were promising to do if they won the Senate. This is how it will go down. Democrats will live to regret the killing of the filibuster. But whether they killed it or Republicans do it, we knew it would go, and with it all the norms and values it represented.

Realistically, what is left to do, aside from sending fresh fruit and a Vitamix to Justices Ginsburg and Breyer, is to figure out a way to make this a front-page story until January. Our choices now are to make a huge national fuss or to quietly and maturely accede to a Trump nominee, who will assuredly be on board for rolling back Roe v. Wade, protecting religious objectors from general laws, and expanding gun rights. We can hold out hope that Trump’s general lunacy and opportunism will lead him to seat someone wholly unpredictable, a kind of sweeps-week stunt nominee like Mi* Obama or Justice Omarosa or his son Barron. But for all that I have railed against destructive partisanship directed at fragile courts, I am persuaded now that the only way to answer nihilism is with nihilism of our own.

‘An ape in heels’: WV officials slur Mi* Obama — and say Melania Trump will be ‘refreshing’

Michelle Obama speaks in Phoenix, AZ (Photo: Screen capture)

Two officials in West Virginia have come under fire for sharing racist messages about First Lady Mi* Obama.

According to WSAZ, a message about the current first lady was shared thousands of times after it was posted on Facebook by Clay County Development Corporation Director Pamela Taylor.

“It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House,” Taylor wrote. “I’m tired of seeing an ape in heels.”

Clay Mayor Beverly Whaling reportedly praised Taylor’s post, writing, “Just made my day Pam.”

An online petition signed by 1,000 people called for both Taylor and Whaling to be fired.

Clay Town Councilman Jason Hubbard told Charleston Gazette-Mail that the controversy would be addressed at a council meeting on Tuesday.

For Taylor’s part, she insisted to WSAZ that she had already been reprimanded by the Clay County Development Corporation, which is funded by taxpayer money.

Taylor argued that the incident had been turned into a “hate crime against me.”

I get what you mean

I see Trump as another puppet used to unleash the brutal policies of various private interests who are wagering a bet on total global financial collapse (which can be achieved via protecionism and isolationism as much as via the globalisation that has been in place all these years) so that they have the final excuse to introduce the last step in the complete centralisation of all banking/regulatory/monetary issues. Plus of course the plots by evangelical groups and all sorts of nutters planning to go back to the middle ages .

They have a person who is basically the epitome of the self made man, and an entertainment esque type of figure with that TV show etc. They deliberately wanted a person with the infamous locker banter approach, it was one huge sit com or soap opera distraction start to finish (the campaign). I still think WW3 is on the cards, obviously if Clinton had won it would only have been a matter of months with her dreadful idea of a no fly zone in Syria and its implication of an immediate confrontation with Russia.

Look at the things he said in that 60 minutes interview , already backtracking and "softening", acting more presidential etc. The thing is that at the core of it, more of the same policies we've seen during both the Bush and Obama administrations will continue while people are being distracted. The point about a left that has kind of betrayed their own constituency remains though imo

Like I said, Trump wouldn't have made it that far if the working class section of society had been catered to in the aftemath of the 2008 crisis. No you had the complete opposite in fact, so basically they were begging to consign the country to the right of the right of the Republicans. Having Clinton running sealed the poison deal, with her awful record on Libya, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the Goldman Sachs issue etc

Donna Brazile is not apologizing for leaking CNN debate questions and topics to the Hillary Clinton campaign during the Democratic primary. Her only regret, it seems, is that she got caught.

“My conscience — as an activist, a strategist — is very clear,” the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee said Monday during a satellite radio interview with liberal activist and SiriusXM host Joe Madison. She added that “if I had to do it all over again, I would know a hell of a lot more about cybersecurity.”

Sorry but the media truly is pretty retarded that only now they're tripping out over Bannon, alt-right, Russia etc. lol Not at all surprised since Trump knew most of them were suckers and in a daze except for the Maddows and Kurt Eichenwalds. Why didn't the shit media ocd on this weeks if not months BEFORE the election instead those few last crucial weeks battering the holy hell out of Hillary's e-mails lol.

I wouldnt put it past the media if they DID have this in the wings but waited to go nuclear on it for yet..more fcking ratings/drama since a Clinton victory wouldve been too boring. That said, just have to lmao that Billary are actually seriously believing it was solely the FBI why she lost. NOT the candidate/ her at all. Okay. Geezus.

Exactly. During the primaries, many of the other candidates were actually much worse than Trump. The problems with this coming government is not only that it might squash the local population but also aggravate worldwide tensions. The nazi comparison is only as valid as totalitarian-minded governments work a similar path, the difference in this case being the USA is the world's only superpower. The risk now is not the same as in the 1930s. Now, the risk is nuclear war, which would domino very easily into worldwide destruction. The US government hasn't been working to prevent that at all from happening, for years and years.

edit: Just so happens there's doc on Berlusconi on tv and one of the persons interviewed described B.'s rise to power in early 90s in a colorful way. He said the way the previous government parties (including the Socialist gov.) were so corrupt that it was like stuffing the asshole of the country with all that shit, and Berlusconi was born in a gigantic anal birth when it all came out! Seems appropriate somehow to the current state of affairs...

History is definitely repeating itself and people are too distracted to realize it.  I have been literally stunned to the core by some people I know who are massive Trump supporters.  Their racist, sexist views are coming out big time.  We have right wing Trump lovers in the media ( Rupert Murdoch owned papers )  who are all saying how he is not part of the elite and it is people power.  Give me a break, he is a multi millionaire who has exploited workers for decades.  Working class people ADMIRING that he does not pay tax.

Never realized just how racist some  Australians are and it sickens me.  I saw a documentary recently about Jewish refugees who were sent back to Germany after fleeing to America.  Sent back to be killed.  I have spoken to people recently who are now carrying on about "boat people"  coming to Australia and hoping they all drown at sea.  How inhumane is that.  Plus, a racist horrible woman at work yesterday said that the Wall is a great idea and we are lucky in Australia that we have the Pacific ocean instead to drown them.  They are opening saying these things and proud of it.  It is frightening and depressing.  Conspiracy theory nuts too all support Trump.  I am ranting here but scary as hell.
