They're probably offering them a massive settlement already. The guy who survived getting bitten by an alligator as a child there in the 1980s hinted his family was given a settlement by Disney. This is giving them very bad press right when tourist season is starting!

Fair enough to settle for being bitten but what price can you put on having the child killed?

I imagine the parents would want justice more than a couple of million dollars.

No one visiting a theme park designed for families should expect their child to killed by an animal. To blame the parents is totally wrong. My heart goes out to them.

Yes, Disney is completely to blame here. It is just tragic for the family. Poor little boy.

Parents of 2-Year-Old Gator Attack Victim Explain Why They're Not Suing Disney World

The parents of the 2-year-old boy who was killed by an alligator at Disney World in Orlando last month say they do not intend to sue.

"Melissa and I are broken," Matt Graves and his wife Melissa said in a statement released Wednesday. "We will solely be focused on the future health of our family and will not be pursuing a lawsuit against Disney.

"We will forever struggle to comprehend why this happened to our sweet baby, Lane," they said. "As each day passes, the pain gets worse, but we truly appreciate the outpouring of sympathy and warm sentiments we have received from around the world.

"We know that we can never have Lane back, and therefore, we intend to keep his spirit alive through the Lane Thomas Foundation," they said.

"It is our hope that through the foundation we will be able to share with others the unimaginable love Lane etched in our hearts," they continued. "For now, we continue to ask for privacy as we focus on our family."

Disney did not have an immediate response.

The Nebraska boy was on vacation with his family at the Seven Seas Lagoon near the Grand Floridian Resort on June 16. He was playing in about a foot of water when the alligator came out of the lake and attacked. The boy's father tried desperately to fight off the gator, suffering lacerations on his hand, but neither he nor a lifeguard could save the boy.

Disney released a statement shortly after the body was recovered. "There are no words to convey the profound sorrow we feel for the family and their unimaginable loss," George A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World Resort said in the statement. "We are devastated and heartbroken by this tragic accident and are doing what we can to help them during this difficult time."

The FWC is confident they removed the alligator responsible for the attack. The alligator has been euthanized, a spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE separately. Based on "expert analyses and observations by staff with extensive experience in investigating fatal alligator bite incidents," the FWC was able to correctly identify the reptile. Officials also took into account witness description, proximity to the site of the attack and the size of the alligator.

During the investigation, trappers "humanely removed" six alligators from the area.

Walt Disney World Resort officials installed new signs on resort beach locations following the tragic incident.

The new warning signs, which appear in red, read: "DANGER. ALLIGATORS AND SNAKES IN AREA. STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER. DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE," and feature images of an alligator and a snake.

Previous signage at the Grand Floridian simply told visitors: "No Swimming Allowed, Thank You."

A private funeral was held for the toddler in his hometown of Elkhorn, Nebraska, on June 21.

Disney's lawyers are dirty scum. They have done everything from dumpster diving to obtain papers to use against others to mysteriously getting possession of documents that were stolen from a rival lawyer in an office break-in. They denied being involved in the break-in and claimed the documents turned up on their door step. And the judge allowed the stolen documents to be used in court.

Disney builds stone wall at lake where alligator killed boy

Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) Workers are building a stone wall around a Walt Disney World lake where an alligator killed a toddler earlier this summer.

Disney officials told the Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/2aLV0t9 ) for a story published Sunday that the barrier wall is part of the new security plan following the death of 2-year-old Lane Graves of Omaha, Nebraska. The boulder wall is going up along the beaches of the Seven Seas Lagoon where several resorts are located.

Disney also put up warning signs and ropes after Graves was dragged by an alligator into the lake on June 14. The boy's body was found 16 hours later and an autopsy showed he died from drowning and traumatic injuries.

The family decided not to file a lawsuit against Disney.

But it'll help them grieve.

How?

Buying a new car and house.... Sitting around surrounded by new possessions when they would give their own lives just to have another day with their son. BUT THEY CANT, money wont change that.

Imagine the family sitting in a room with 5 lawyers from the Disney corp, trying to negotiate how much their son was worth.

I agree. I couldn't enjoy any money from such circumstances and what price do you put on a life?

Hopefully they'll make a charitable donation.

I watched Jaws last night and it has the mayor not wanting to close the beach on 4th July so not to lose business. Life really does imitate art.
