Depeche Mode

Recommended Posts

Gonna take my time

I have all the time in the world

to make you mine

it is written in the stars above

The gods decree

you'll be right here by my side

right next to me

you can run but you cannot hide

this is my favourite

Love them too. Have seen them 5 or 6 times. 2 times was back to back so yeah. Wanna see them again. Martin Gore is the one I am most prone to pay attention too. Love how he sings and plays all the instruments.

This is the true definition of sex. Martin Gore felt it and wrote about it. Most men will never understand it...

In your room

Where time stands still
Or moves at your will
Will you let the morning come soon
Or will you leave me lying here
In your favourite darkness
Your favourite half light
Your favourite consciousness
Your favourite slave

In your room
Where souls disappear
Only you exist here
Will you lead me to your armchair
Or leave me lying here
Your favourite innocence
Your favourite prize
Your favourite smile
Your favourite slave

I'm hanging on your words
Living on your breath
Feeling with your skin
Will I always be here

In your room
Your burning eyes
Cause flames to arise
Will you let the fire die down soon
Or will I always be here
Your favourite passion
Your favourite game
Your favourite mirror
Your favourite slave

This is called Depeche Mode's worst single ever (by fans and critics)

and it's the only DM vinyl single I bought (back in 1982).

And I still love it!

I remember attending to a Elton John open air concert with my mom back in 1984 - with Depeche Mode as opening act!

I have followed Depeche Mode since 1982 and love all their early albums up until Songs Of Faith and Devotion.

Violater is an absolute masterpiece.

When Alan Wilder left the band the quality started to slip and their last few albums have been very patchy to say the least.

I'm not keen on Dave Gahan's quest to be some sort of rock god either.

Their songs are not as melodic, they were always innovators and now not so much. I guess their creative juices have run dry.

They are worth seeing live even if its just to hear their old songs.

Yes, I agree. The band lost something after Alan's departure. A lot of fans will say that Songs of Faith and Devotion was their last good album.

Personally, I enjoyed Ultra so much though. Every song is great. I also enjoyed Exciter.

But something was missing from Exciter, that was Alan. I think they got lucky with Ultra.

Dave gave up that quest years ago. I saw his solo tour of Paper Monsters. He was great. I met his son that night. Nice kid.

Oh, I love this one too. Martin's solo sung songs 'lost it' after Ultra...

Mode at their peak!... I think they peaked with Masses. A concert that took me to another level of life.

They were oozing sex.

Yes, I love this song. A very sad song. I'm lucky I never had children and have to and try to explain to them what divorce is.

Love Depeche Mode, one of my favorite bands.

:inlove: In my opinion, their "most recent" gem. Also my second-favorite DM song.

I listened to Playing the Angel on the train earlier, haven't heard it in a while, I forgot how much I enjoy that album, there's only 1 song I skip (Macro) but the rest are great, Suffer Well, Lilian, Precious, Darkest Star, Sinner In Me, I Want It All, Nothings Impossible, all great.

The mistake they made with the last 2 albums was sticking with Ben Hillier, they should have moved on after Playing the Angel.

^Agree PTA is excellent! I purchased the CD/DVD from the tour date in Milan, and i's very good. The last album (delta machine) was very strong in my opinion. Still listen to it frequently.

:inlove::inlove::inlove:

Fragile
Like a baby in your arms
Be gentle with me
I'd never willingly
Do you harm
Apologies
Are all you seem to get from me
But just like a child
You make me smile
When you care for me
And you know...
It's a question of lust
It's a question of trust
It's a question of not letting
What we've built up
Crumble to dust
It is all of these things and more
That keep us together
Independence
Is still important for us though (we realise)
It's easy to make
The stupid mistake
Of letting go (do you know what I mean)
My weaknesses
You know each and every one (it frightens me)
But I need to drink more
Than you seem to think
Before I'm anyone's
And you know...
It's a question of lust
It's a question of trust
It's a question of not letting
What we've built up
Crumble to dust

I love them. I was obsessed with "Violator" when I was in hs. Saw them in concert once in '94, still have my ticket stub. :)

Playing was written during Martin's divorce. There's a lot emotion in that album.

One of the best 'divorce songs' imo...

For me their peak was Violater. Black Celebration comes a close second. I saw the BC tour twice its was absolutely amazing. On that tour they really connected with the crowd and the set list was a great mix of old and new songs

I used to love Delta Machine but songs like Slow and the Child Inside began to annoy me so I don't put it on anymore, although Alone is one of the best songs they've ever made and a lot of fans agree with that.

I bought the Delta tour DVD and the album tracks sound so much better with bigger drums.
