This is EXACTLY what Hillary did in 08 so don't pull that shit on us all of a sudden.

Good point, although she has a much greater lead over Sanders than Obama ever had over her.

Obviously he should stay in a bit longer and let other states have their say, but with a few exceptions, most of these people who are clinging to "he still has a path" don't seem to grasp how a primary works.

Yeah, I don't think him staying in the race causes much harm regarding planning for the general. Hillary Clinton has pretty much pulled all her primary ads against Bernie and is now strategising for November. I actually think the primary still going will be beneficial because that's what helped Obama win Indiana because time was spent there campaigning during 2008 primary.

No offense, but that really isn't how this works. None of her policy proposals have changed since she first announced running. She might be "talking" more about reigning in Wall Street and college debt relief, but the plans she laid out for those issues on her website haven't changed.

No offense, but having Hillary actually talk about these matters in debates on national tv (more than she would have without Sander's influence) will hold her feet to the fire should she get in office. I am not a socialist. I do believe in certain rights like socialist healthcare (which I do believe Hillary wants.. but she needs to be pushed for. her negative experiences from the 90's have caused her to be too careful. things are different today after the rising costs from 2 decades of shameful pandering to healthcare lobbyists.)

In the 2008 debates, Obama said health care reform would require no individual mandate while Hillary was realistic about the issue and said it did. Turns out, in order for the Affordable Care Act to work, you have to have the mandate. No Obama feet were held to any fire, and he won re-election. Obama also promised to end the war in Afghanistan and bring the troops home by the end of his term. We still have almost 10,000 troops there and are likely to keep at least 5,500 into 2017. I am not saying that to attack him, as I think there are just realities even an optimistic man like Obama has to deal with. It's just the nature of leadership.

Politicians say whatever they need to say to get elected. Governance is an entirely different thing. Even if Bernie won, I think the same thing would apply to him. In fact, I find it interesting that so many voters (mostly the most liberal and the most conservative), always have these altruistic feelings about certain nominees. "Obama is going to transform Washington! It's a new era!" And then 8 years later the country is still gridlocked. Today all I hear is "Bernie is the one to change Washington." Only he won't because the Presidency is only 1/3 of the government and is checked/balanced by Congress and the Judiciary.

I admire the convictions of the people who think money is leaving politics soon, but short of an American version of the French Revolution (with actual heads being chopped off), I am sorry to say it's just not happening.

As if Trump couldn't get any worse, he's making me feel a tiny bit sympathetic towards Ted Cruz after Trump posted on Twitter incredibly insulting things about Ted's wife.

Great! More gossipy stuff to distract American voters from what's going on in the world right now

I listened to Marco Rubio's concession speech, mentioning God and all that

Why do the word "God" and politicians so often go hand in hand in American politics?

Because the electorate has a strong Evangelical bent - at least on the GOP side. The South is heavily religious.

Did you forget how much he HATED Hillary? Good luck getting him back now that Hillary will be the nominee. There's tons of shit he said against Hillary in 2008. She's the ONE (unfortunately). Keith has no chance of coming back after the NASTY attacks he waged against Hillary when she was running against Obama. He was NASTY to her. He won't be back till the Clinton's are done in politics. Which could take decades.

It seems like the entire liberal establishment attacks Hillary - but only when she runs for President. How about when nominated for Secretary of State? Running for U.S. Senator? Those are fine, but not President. Then, it's to the back of the bus with her.

Quoth Madonna, Rather transparent, wouldn't you say?

My state caucuses today (Saturday)....

With all the Bernie love here, I think he's going to carry the Seattle area alone by 70%. I expect he'll win the state by at least 56% if not more. Obama won the WA caucus in 2008 with 68% of the vote vs. Hillary's 31% but Bernie doesn't seem to be having the "Obama phenomenon effect" in voter turnout based on other states so far, so I suspect it could be closer. Naturally, I'd be happy with a 51-49 split as they'd get the same amount of delegates.

Oh please with your silliness. Attacking a secretary of state or senator is like attacking gaga and Taylor swift at Madonnnation. Attacking the president ( something actually worthwhile ) is like attacking Madonna, hence the dramas.

I don't think it's silly. I think it's worth mentioning. No liberal media person was like "OMG, Obama nominated the person who started the Iraq War for Secretary of State - the 4th most powerful position in the U.S." Most everyone seemed happy with his choice. So she can be the top diplomat but not the President? Fucking stupid ass double standards.

I mean seriously, if she's so corrupt and full of bad judgement where were these news hounds when she was after other positions of power? It's a legitimate question.

I see thanks

How unfortunate. As long as you say God you're good I guess. Never mind cheering for people who condone military policies killing millions of innocents in the world. Condemning Assad yet being chummy with Saudi Arabia, always according to the moment's convenience. Rich

It always astounds me how a large section of the American public is totally "blissfully" unaware of what goes on around the world, for a country that has so much military and diplomatic worldwide clout, and they never ever even feel remotely cheated out of their tax payers money, used to inflame already precarious situations

I feel like the Republican side of American politics is the worst at keeping that ignorance alive and kicking, And the fact that in the year 2016 we still have this bizzare dichotomy of religion and politics is scary enough in itself

Yeah, that's pretty much true. It's sad. I hope we outgrown this religious adolescence some day.

I thought Rachel Maddow and Andrea looked like they were in pain when Hillary swept all five states a couple of weeks ago.

Well, Bernie will probably sweep today. My precinct was heavily FOR Sanders. Like by 70-30. But that's Seattle for you...we only vote granola.

Well he was picking a side between her and Obama at the time as we all were. Doesn't change the fact that I agree with most of what he says.

I am sure he also would be voting for Hillary if she were the nominee against the likes of Trump or Cruz.

I have to admit this is pretty funny.

And I do wish people on the far far left would stop bashing her like media outlets like The Young Turks. Yes they have every right to voice their opinion. And yes I do agree with them on most issues but I think they fail to see the larger picture. We only get to pick ONE person out of TWO to be our next President and making tons of young people loathe Hillary only helps Trump and Cruz with this voting block.

Again, that's exactly what happened with Hillary. There came a point where the media started to attack her for not dropping out of the race because it was clear Obama was going to win, but she kept on going for several months and eventually lost.

In her defence, it didn't affect Obama in the general elections in the slightest. Just like Bernie staying in the primaries this early in the game isn't going to hurt Hillary at all.

I'm not sure who said it, but there's no need to say that Bernie continuing to run is going to cost the democrats the white house. No reason to be so dramatic.

Oh, and there were many people, some in this forum even, who were really pissed off for a really long time and it wasn't until Obama chose her as Secretary of State when they decided to let go of the past and move on and act like none of that actually happened.

Sanders got more delegates for winning 2/3 caucuses by large margin and taking some from Arizona as well.

The longer he stays in the competition more likely Trump will be the next president.

Even Hillary herself said last week when questioned about him staying in the race, said that he has every right to stay in the race if he wants. She cited that she did the same thing.

Yes, exactly  Some people just talk out of their ass.

I had to stop watching The Young Turks, it was turning really ugly especially as Bernie began to lose. They were starting to question whether Hillary was truly sincere in her past efforts to help women and children as well as talking about how Trump could bring a more progressive America than Hillary would. I've lost so much respect for them, especially after I realised they were spreading misinformation about her. I'm pretty much sticking with FiveThirtyEight/NPR/Slate for my election coverage.

Who's bashing her? Who in the world is the far far left? There is no far far left in the U.S. Do you even know what that means? And who comes into this thread and just says oh I hate her for no good reason. I went on a rant with a host of reasons why I do not support her and most people just read over it and keep on babbling about the haters and how Bernie is going to help Hillary win and "he's probably not even going to help her campaign"

Instead of talking about issues and politics everyone treats elections in the U.S. like a popularity contest.

Hillary must be so glad that all these caucuses are over now. On to the closed primaries. Even with losing these open/semi-open caucuses, she still seems to win the majority of democrats who caucus. I think she won 66% of Dems in Washington. Which is a great sign for the remainder of primaries. Aside from Iowa and Nevada, I don't think she really tried to contest them

I believe Wisconsin (the next moderately large contest) is an OPEN primary like Michigan, although it might be a very tight race. Sanders will probably win that one, and he'll win the Wyoming caucus too, even though it's closed. NY is Hillary's next chance to shut him down but it's an eternity away - April 19. If Sanders can somehow make NY competitive in the next few weeks - like a 51% to 49% loss - I might get worried. The longer this thing goes on, the more damage he can do to Hillary in the general.

I find it interesting that Elizabeth Warren hasn't endorsed either candidate yet. Bernie should be a shoe-in for her. She says she will endorse someone, but she's obviously waiting to see if Sanders can catch up.
