The Pope and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church have released a joint statement condemning same-sex marriage.
The statement, consisting of 30 points, holds wide-reaching significance for Catholics and followers of the Orthodox Church.
The main message of the statement seems to be the reconciliation of the Orthodox and Catholic churches.

However, as well as a coming together of the two denominations, the statement condemns war in the middle east and the persecution of Christians.
Going on, the statement says Pope Francis and Kirill are “concerned” about Christians being “confronted by restrictions to religious freedom”.
Secular societies are next on the list, saying that Christians face “outright discrimination”, and that they are faced by an “often very aggressive secularist society”.
The pair urge Europe to “remain faithful to its Christian roots”, and calls on European Christians to be more outspoken about their faith.
In a similar vein to many statements made by the churches, the “family” was high on the agenda.
One point calls family the “natural center of human life and society”, but they say they are “concerned about the crisis in the family in many countries”.
They then say that “the family is based on marriage, an act of freely given and faithful love between a man and a woman.”
The Pope and the Patriarch are apparently worried that the “biblical tradition, of paternity and maternity as the distinct vocation of man and woman in marriage is being banished from the public conscience.”

Patriarch Kirill in 2013 condemned the advance of marriage equality in the West, calling it a symptom of the apocalypse.
The Russian Orthodox Church has been a key supporter of Russia’s anti-gay law, and Patriarch Kirill maintained the Church’s view that homosexuality is a sin – although he has cautioned against punishing people for their sexuality.
In 2009 he told an interviewer: “We respect the person’s free choice, including in sex relations.”
Pope Francis last month attacked same-sex marriage and civil unions, ahead of a debate in the Italian Senate at introducing civil unions for same-sex couples.
He said: “There can be no confusion between the family God wants and any other type of union.
“The family, founded on indissoluble matrimony that unites and allows procreation, is part of God’s dream and that of his Church for the salvation of humanity,” he added.

Then they celebrated by sucking the dicks of a whole choir of underage boys.

Here ine France we have a scandale the church and the media try to silence and US LGBT are trying to mke light of. The Cardinal of the city of Lyon was aware of acts of pedophilia from a priest for almost 10 years and did nothing.

This asshole had the audacity to blame the devil when questioned about 43 missing students who were ordered by a mayor to be executed and then have their bodies burned and crushed and buried. He said the Devil is still angry over the fact that indigenous people (who were forced to convert) chose the Virgin of Guadalupe (modeled after a Mexica Goddess) over their pre-colombian satanic religion

That's why the Devil keeps punishing and testing Mexican's faith  he's just been pissed off for 500+ years that's why everything is shit here, it has NOTHING to do with the government

FUCK THE NEW AND IMPROVED POPE

Well there goes any good will for this man I had out the window....

I never believed it in the first place...and was quite disappointed to see so many out there fall for it.

He was hired as a PR man.

Exactly. There are 7 billion+ people on the planet right now - FAR MORE than the planet can actually handle. There are not enough resources to sustain all that. Global conflict in the future (if not now) is going to be about those resources.

All those that don't want to have children are actually helping the planet in the long run.

symptom of the apocalypse

Yeah. Right.

Look at all the bad stuff churches and religion have done through the years.

Then look at all the bad stuff gay people have done through the years.

Who wins?

Apocalypse my ass.

Playing the same game as the Evangelicals... 'we're afraid it'll be an attack on religious freedom'... NO, you fucking pussies are just afraid your precious little religious privilege is going to finally be put in check.

And slowly, it is.

Check mate bitches.

Hope he asked him why the Russian Orthodox Church keeps helping Putin to starve the vast majority of the Russian population and dispose of journalists or anyone who dares antagonising the government. Somehow I doubt he did.

These old queens have some nerve to be homophobic when the headdress worn by miss thing on the right was clearly designed by a gay man. What a waste of fabric. It amazes me how people put these mere mortals on a pedestal in the name of 'God.'

This

They are the pompous self-appointed representatives of God on Earth. There isn't a bigger lie, historically speaking. Firstly when you look at the institutional and financial power alone they wield which, in their case in particular being heads of Christianity, harshly clashes with the message of poverty left by Jesus Christ, but even more so when you consider that the concept of God or even a multitude of Gods pre-dates ANY religion.

It amazes me too how easily deceivable most people are. A lot of people are oblivious as to how the Vatican came about and most of all the preceding 1900 years of abuse. This pope is the first Jesuit pope

The Society of Jesus is still the most powerful supranational organisation in the world. Its aims and instruments originated the whole Inquisition when millions of people have been slaughtered worldwide.

Vatican's banker 'was murdered'

A top financier found hanging from a bridge in London 20 years ago was murdered, forensic experts appointed by judges in Rome to investigate the death have reportedly said.

According to media reports, the panel said Roberto Calvi, who was nicknamed God's Banker because of his close ties to the Vatican, could not have killed himself as originally suggested.

They said his neck showed no evidence of the injuries usually associated with death by hanging and his hands had never touched the stones found in the pockets of his clothes.
The results of the investigation, based on a new autopsy of Calvi's body, will be reviewed by two judges in Rome presiding over the case, who will decide whether to order a murder trial involving the mafia, reports say.
Investigators suspect Calvi was killed by the mafia for failing to repay their "deposits" on demand.
The findings have yet to be officially handed over to the tribunal, Rome prosecutor Salvatore Vecchione said in reaction to the reports.
Friday's findings appear to confirm the results of forensic tests carried out earlier this year which reportedly showed the banker had been murdered.

Financial scandal
Calvi's son, also named Roberto, was quoted by La Repubblica newspaper as saying that although he was convinced the mafia carried out the murder, it was on behalf of a third party.
"Behind the mafia, there's someone else," he said, adding: "The politicians who gave the order must be found."
Mr Calvi's body was found hanging from scaffolding on Blackfriars Bridge in June 1982, days after the suspicious collapse of the Vatican-controlled Banco Ambrosiano.

His family has always maintained his death was not suicide.
When Calvi arrived in London, he was on the run, using a false passport.
His corrupt dealings had brought the bank to the verge of collapse with debts of more than $1bn.
Inquest verdicts
The case developed into one of the biggest political and financial scandals of the post-war era in Italy, with widespread speculation about mafia involvement and links to a shadowy Masonic group, known as P2.
Mr Calvi's body was exhumed four years ago, following his family's insistence that he had been killed.
Calvi was a member of the secret right-wing P2 Masonic lodge and was also linked to the Sicilian mafia.
The coroner initially recorded a verdict of suicide but, under pressure from the family, a second inquest was called and an open verdict was recorded.
In recent years more evidence has come to light, suggesting Calvi was murdered by the mafia to stop him divulging damaging details about links between the mafia, the Vatican and P2.
