2016 Presidential Election Thread Part 2

I think Clinton will eek out a win when all is said and done. However, in the media, it will play as a tie and basically a wash.

Bernie will win NH though (so we will have to deal with ULIZOS' boasting a little longer), and then it's all territory friendly to Clinton after that. Nevada might be close though.

Bernie's speech gave me LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I also say that I LOVED that Clinton came out during Cruz's speech. Have to wonder if she did that on purpose so everyone would cut away from him and go to her. :lmao: I can not STAND hearing Cruz speak. He sounds like one of those crazy Bible thumper preachers on late night TV trying to sell their snake oil to the idiots that tune in.

What a night. Who would have thought it would end up pretty much a dead tie. Crazy.

Key takeaways tonight:

Evangelicals are still a force to be reckoned with in the GOP. They will matter less in New Hampshire, but look for them again in South Carolina and the rest of the South. Cruz isn't over for awhile, while Trump needs a big NH to keep his "winner" mantra alive.

Before you pop the champagne on Bernie, here is some cold water...he didn't get even close to the massive turnout that Obama had in 2008. He may have captured the Youth Vote, but make no mistake, his revolution doesn't have the punch of Obama's phenomenon. And without that type of transformation, we don't win back even part of Congress. We'll have to see how other states play out, but seriously folks, if Bernie's coattails (in a general election) don't bring over the Senate to the Democrats then we won't even get liberal Supreme Court nominees (because the Senate has to approve them and a GOP Senate isn't going to do shit for a socialist).

Well that's just your opinion. I'm sure you think it's great that it's close call and that she slightly edged Bernie in Iowa but actually the fact that it's too close she under performed for her own good.

It's great for Bernie but not so much for Hillary.

And btw, Michael Moore endorses Bernie. I would share it here but dunno how with my phone.

What's concerning is Iowa was meant to be one Bernie's better states while being an alright one for Hillary. This tie could help with momentum, but the South will be a problem. The best outcome that Bernie campaign can hope for is that people see the tie as maybe meaning Hillary isn't inevitable after all.

I would love it if Donald loses.

I hope he would see that as his way out and drops out of the race.

So you want slime-ball opportunist tea bag douche Marco from Floriduh as your prez. nominee and most likely president! :#. He's as god awful scary as Cruz, aren't u aware of that? Just cause he's prettier and not as 'angry'. He's positively a pig/ snake simply w/ lots more glossy lipstick.

Well obviously it's my opinion. I wasn't stating it as anything else. I actually don't think it's great that she edged him. A win by 5 points would mean momentum for her. This is just a statemate and no one wins (although Bernie won't have his NH cut with any big Clinton victory stories so in essence, it helps him). And who cares who Michael Moore endorsed. All the bleeding heart liberals are already with Bernie...Moore's endorsement won't sway anyone who wasn't already with Sanders.

Exactly. Let's see how Bernie does in states that aren't mostly white. That will be a better indicator long-term.

Hillary isn't inevitable for sure particularly if her legal issues heat up but when Bernie can't win outright with all the white liberal college kids in Iowa, there are only a few states left that are going to be possible for him.

Part of me wonders if the turnout for the dems wasn't as massive in 2008 simply because the stakes aren't as high yet.

What I mean by that is, the dems by and large still love Obama, and with Hillary and Bernie you have two people that I honestly think most dems would be fine with either one, so there isn't this HUGE motivation to really take part yet as there was in 2008 when dems were looking for the right person to take back the White House after 8 years of one of the worst administrations our country has ever seen.

With republicans no matter what Obama does he will always be the devil to them, so their desire to take back the White House and "take back America" is MASSIVE right now and they are lining up behind Ted Cruz or Donald Dump or Rubio like crazy to make sure their candidate that they think has the best bet of winning does win the primary.

My point is they have massive motivation right now to vote, where a segment of dems just might not feel it yet which I think would obviously change come general election time when these people see how "life and death" the situation is with whatever nutcase republicans nominate.

I don't know...that was supposed to be how Romney would win in 2008 also....:(

So who won the Democratic caucus? Last I heard, they said it was almost a tie, but eventually they determine a winner right?

The Democratic caucus is weird because they seem to be reporting the results in terms of delegates and not votes like the Republicans do so it's hard to tell who the winner is.

I used to totally Hillary but Bernie is starting to win me over.

Wow, it was tight! Congrats to Hillary!

And it's good that Trump didn't win. I hope he ate his wig :headbang:
