2016 Presidential Election Thread Part 2

With regards to Hillary Clinton's favourability, normally after the primary process the 'inevitable nominee's' favourability bounces back. Also, I don't think Bernie has much of chance going forward, his momentum from NH has pretty much been reversed almost.

Not only did Hillary match Bernies' NH landslide, she doubled it plus a few more points

If it does in fact boil down to Trump vs. Hillary, I really hope we can count on the Bernie supporters to support the Democratic Party. It's not voting "out of fear;" it's doing the right thing. We cannot allow Trump to be president. We have to be united against him. The vast majority of the #BernieOrBust people are white straight men that have little to lose under a Trump presidency. As a black gay college student, I have EVERYTHING to lose under a Trump presidency so please don't contribute to his success by placing your vote on a total losing candidate. I'm begging all of you - for our sake.

She CRUSHED him. Bigger turn out than when Obama was running. More black turn out too. Pretty great for Hillary.

Clinton vs Trump.

Bigger turnout than 2012 when Obama ran uncontested and was renominated ?? I will give you that. Not that you would ever know it from here but if this trend continues you will see panic set in with the Dems,

Republican 2016 Democrat 2016 Republican 2008 Democrat 2008

South Carolina 737,917 370,000 431196 532227

Just south of 370,000

In GOP primary 740,000

GOP total like 350,000 votes ahead.

I think you're missing that lower turnout on Dem side can be attributed to the fact that a majority of Dems don't mind either candidate. Whereas on Republican side, there's more candidates with supporters of them have strong opinions about their favourite's competition.

Wow, SC was a landslide for HRC.

What are the states that are actually looking close for Super Tuesday? Oklahoma and CO? I've read one poll giving MA to Sanders, and one for Clinton.

Well that's just a SomeofShame.

South Carolina isn't going to be contested in the Fall, I'm just making the point that Obama also beat Hillary in 2008 by about 30% but with 150,000 more voters turning out on the Democratic side.

In other words, you are asking people like me to go against my beliefs and principles and vote for a lying, corrupt, corporate fed politician "out of fear" of getting someone like Trump? Sorry, but we will have to disagree. It is voting "out of fear", not doing the right thing. Doing the right thing would be voting for a candidate with integrity in the first place, whether it's Sanders, Stein, or someone else. People have a rare chance to vote for someone with integrity and a consistent record, and they choose Hillary instead. So, now I'm just supposed to give up what I believe in because people have decided to vote against their own best interests and go with the establishment, celebrity, "safe" candidate? That's on her supporters, not on me and the other Bernie supporters. It goes both ways. If Trump wins, people can't just pin it on the Bernie supporters. Hillary will never get my vote ... and neither will Trump.

If it comes down to Trump VS Hillary, hope Hillary destroys him. Can you imagine Trump dealing with worldwide issues? Rushing about like a bull in a china shop :scared: I cannot imagine what an educated American would see in Trump. You don't rule with jokes and much less by fostering division

Your right to vote includes the right not to vote. So far so good. But you are removing yourself from the democratic process with not casting a vote. Let's just prented a republican wins and becomes the next POTUS and is doing politics that you consider even worse than anything Hillary could have ever done. What will you do? Complain about it? Giving grand speeches? Quite frankly, if the unthinkable really happens, YOU should not talk at all. Because YOU had the chance to influence the results to keep that person out of office. But YOU decided to throw your vote away. As much as I understand a lot of the things you say, I am a pragmatic person when it comes to politics. I vote for the party that reflects my ideas the most and can actually get the job done. I am always amazed when I hear about the U.S. peoples problem with the so called establishment in Washington DC and that's why they vote for Bernie Sanders because he's not part of it. The first question that comes to my mind is "And how is he supposed to govern a country if he does not know how to deal with this establishment?". He will be a lame duck from the get go and nothing he has promised wil become a reality. He certainly has good intentions and for someone like me, living in Europe, his ideas are not even revolutionary or socialist, because it's reality here, but under the current political system of the U.S. his ideas are illusions.

For the average U.S. American the world outside of the U.S. does not exist. Most U.S. Americans never leave their country and don't even get me started about the media in the U.S.. To get news or any other information about other parts of the world requires a pro-active approach and needs a certain amount of interest. Most U.S. Americans are not interested.

Trump can obviously be total business when he has to be, even Elizabeth Warren likes his tax plan, so calling him a one dimensional buffoon and all the other repeated half-truth talking points that have no why or reason says more about the people making the charges than the candidate himself.

I hear you but I think Trump is the perfect President to see out humanity when the catastrophic climate change tipping point is reached or terrorists finally get their hands on nuclear weapons. It just seems fitting.

That's like saying you don't care if your balls get whacked by a sock or a wooden bat because the feather - your preferred option - is no longer available.

Son, your balls are going to get whacked either way, at least attempt to minimise the damage.

And this is exactly why Al Gore lost in 2000 and instead we got eight years of absolute hell from Bush. I respect you for voting for who you believe in, but we only get two choices in America. You don't get to vote for the person who shares your exact political views in the general election. You vote for the person who is 'close enough'. Otherwise, we'd have a thousand parties in America.

Ralph Nader voters totally made Gore lose the general election because they presumed he was not liberal enough and that he cared little about the environment (meanwhile he spent the next decade focusing only on that).

Clinton is not perfect, but no vote for her is a vote for a conservative candidate.

Exactly. I will never understand this way of thinking of, "Well if my person doesn't win I am not voting at all!!!!!"

Does anyone SERIOUSLY think that Hillary wouldn't be a thousand times better then Trump!? Trump would be a DISASTER!!!!!! Why the hell would you let a disaster happen to this country just because you aren't in love with who he is going against? I personally think its very selfish and not well thought out at all.

If we get a President Trump I will blame the morons that voted for him just as much as I blame the people that decided to sit home and let it happen. This election is not just about YOU. SO many groups and the rights of these groups are resting on this election. And they will be FUCKED if Trump is elected and gets to nominate 2 to 3 people to the Supreme Court on top of it. Put a fork in America.

Warren never said he liked his tax plan. She mentioned that she liked his proposal of raising taxes on the rich, which he probably already backtracked from. This man flip flops so many times its hard to remember where the hell he stands on anything.

At 7:00 in this clip from '91 he is saying taxes should go up on the rich to encourage investment in real estate and other important national industries. There are a lot of places where he gets out and talks about important things," Warren said of the celebrity real estate tycoon on ABC's "The View. "Donald Trump and I both agree that there ought to be more taxation of the billionaires, the people who are making their money on Wall Street," she said. I believe Sanders has also been complementary on parts of his immigration and trade policies.

First of all this is a clip from 91. This is not the man running for President right now. Second of all that's what I said. Warren praised Trump raising taxes on the rich. I would hardly call that an endorsement of his "tax plan" as I am sure many dems including Warren would find MANY flaws with it as a whole.

First of all, when did I ever say that I was not voting? I simply stated that I would not be voting for Hillary or Trump. The person who I will be voting for is Jill Stein if Hillary is the nominee. With that said, I think that we should more concerned with people who do not vote at all than people who actually go out and vote.

No offense but throwing a vote to Jill Stein pretty much equals not voting.

I just hope you don't live in a swing state.

Our next President folks if people don't wake up.

How lovely for our country and the rest of the world.

He caved !

The Donald made a YUGE concession to the Ted Cruz campaign after saying he needed to “research” more about David Duke’s endorsement of his campaign this morning!!!

Trump must have been REELING from this tremendous tweet from Ted:
@tedcruz
Really sad. @realDonaldTrump you're better than this. We should all agree, racism is wrong, KKK is abhorrent.
6:11 PM - 28 Feb 2016
After the stubby-fingered vulgarian was resuscitated with Trump-brand smelling salts, he wearily made his way back onto Twitter to scream to the Tednado, “NO MAS!! I QUIT!!” a mere 24 minutes later!!
@realDonaldTrump
As I stated at the press conference on Friday regarding David Duke- I disavow.
6:35 PM - 28 Feb 2016
BOOM!! I’ve never seen a candidate flip his toupee and cave to a tweet in the entire history of political Twitter!! This is most likely the end of the Trump campaign.
Now he can go back to shucking Trump steaks, plagiarizing quotes from Fascists, and scamming over people at Trump University.

http://therightscoop.com/trump-caves-the-donald-disavows-david-duke-24-minutes-after-ted-cruz-calls-him-out-on-it/

Unbelievable.

Just to reiterate what Trump meant when he disavowed Duke fifteen years ago and again three days earlier at the Christie press conference. Another reason to not watch CNN. At least Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan has also hit out at the Donald as he warns that he's exacerbating the race situation in the country and would take us into the 'abyss of hell' except when he agrees with his refugee policy and is praising limits on Muslim immigration.
