2016 Presidential Election Thread Part 2

It's seems like a total joke to me that so many on the right are calling for Clinton to be thrown in jail over emails, yet no one in the Bush administration has faced jail time for the reckless shit they did that was a billion times worse.

And I also have the biggest amount of respect for Obama. Has he been a perfect President? Of course not. No one ever will be!! Even Bernie isn't perfect. His record on gun control is nothing to write home about in certain areas but this is how it works when you are voting between two HUMANS! The choice is A VS B. Not A VS Perfect.

And even though Obama got tons of shit done (some to greater degrees then others) if he had a Congress to work with there is no doubt TONS of more shit could have gotten done. Once republicans took back the House in 2010 it was game over. Even when the dems had both Houses look how some huge landmark things passed by the skin of their teeth.

The older I get the more I see that change does come slowly in America. (Though gay marriage being legal in every state happened much faster then I thought) but that doesn't mean we should give up and curse the side that is at LEAST trying to bend and push the country in the right direction just because we don't get the perfect person we want. Even if Bernie is elected he is still going to have just as hard as a time as Obama getting the things done that he wants to do if he doesn't have a Congress to work with.

The only solution I see is to keep motivating people on the left to GET OUT THERE AND VOTE no matter what. And to vote dem no matter what until the republicans are forced to start moving away from their radical right wing views for fear that they will never win a Presidential election again.

^^ Exactly!!! Couldn't have said it better myself! And everything you said shows the institutionalized systems of racism and sexism in our society. Hillary and Obama get WAY more shit than they actually deserve because of their race and gender. If they were both white guys they'd get a lot more respect - I guarantee it. They're both far, far from perfect but they're not nearly as bad as society and the media makes them out to be. They've accomplished a lot more than people seem to realize.

I feel such a mix day-to-day over whether I'm for Hillary or Bernie based on their chances. I mentioned the other day that the south will be a big problem for Bernie, however, if he wins both Iowa and NH then that will be significant. Hillary is still up high in South Carolina, but Bernie is slowly catching up as recent polls show in SC. The Nevada results will be a good indication as well. Hillary does not have this in the bag, there is no clear winner in Iowa and a win for Bernie there will change everything. It's going to be a tight race all the way to the convention

Fingers crossed for Bernie, l just returned from US and that guy has some serious common sense and progressive policies. That may or may not serve him positively in the current environment but l have faith most of America is common sense or can be persuaded that way...its getting them to vote that's his challenge.

Bernie doesn't stand a chance against Trump get real......lol

Well if we are to go by recent polls Bernie beats Trump by a landslide in a general election more so then Hillary.

I actually think Bernie could win against Trump and maybe even Cruz, but not against Rubio. Clinton's a warrior and the GOP has thrown everything at her since 1992 - including the kitchen sink and an email server - yet here she stands and she knows how to break legs and get stuff done. I lover Bernie but the GOP hasn't really tried to destroy him the way they did Clinton, which makes me think they fear her more and that makes me happy.

Or maybe they don't hold anything as such against Bernie, or else they would bring it, why only weaken Hillary?

Also, many Republican voters at least respect Bernie because it's not just Democrats that favour his positions. I also disagree with Nightshade that he would lose against Rubio. Rubio is as establishment as it comes and that is what people seem to be going against this election

You really don't think the GOP has anything against socialism? They only reason Bernie has been spared the rod is because they don't think he's going win yet. Once he's the front runner (assuming that happens) he's going to get $1 billion in attack ads. They just don't think the DNC is going to allow him to win the nom.

Republicans do not favor universal health care or free college for everyone. And in a pitched battle, Rubio would win more swing states once the GOP started running its attack ads about Bernie wanting to cut defense and raise taxes on everyone to pay for another fight over health care (which is true, actually). The general election isn't being run in New England. You have to think about voters in states like Colorado, Ohio and Florida.

Rubio seems to be the ONLY one the polls well against a Hillary or Bernie matchup, but I honestly think its because people don't know enough about him yet.

:dead: :dead:

I saw this picture. The only thing I could think of was self entitled frat house bigoted punks that think supporting a man like Trump makes them look tough.

Which is another thing. Trump has one of the thinnest skins of anyone in recent political memory. He cant take any heat without throwing tantrums and insults like an adult baby. And the FUCKIG comb over!!!!! NOTHING says INERCURE as hell more then a man who is so fearful of being bald that he has to resort to a comb over that looks like a dead animal is on his head.

On the other hand, Trump does seem conceited and arrogant enough to avoid failing in front of the world at all cost. :) He has also promised that as president, he would not talk as much, be less combative and have a much different tone than as candidate. But how do you go from "loud mouth arrogant bully" to reserved and not totally mess with your supporters' minds ?

More seriously, I do think you need to read the "Art of the Deal" to truly understand the underlying artistry of the campaign - that to some extent this is a deliberate strategy by Trump to get free coverage. And it works. The bravado and insolence are all part of the broader plan. His brash public persona is a calculated one, and almost an exaggerated self-caricature.

Here is a PowerPoint-type presentation that summarizes the book:
