Garbage thread

Recommended Posts

(I know there's a thread on them already here, but I couldn't find it)

They just announced the dates for their 20th Anniversary Tour in which they will play their debut album in its entirety plus B sides. This is a must see for me. This is my second most anticipated tour of the year after Madonna of course. To add to the excitement the opener on the US leg Is Torres. I'm a huge fan of her new album Sprinter. She sounds a bit like PJ Harvey.

Will try to see them live during this tour.

Really like Shirley Manson's voice and the music is good.

I'm just having a listen to their Greatest Hits album and I wonder why the song "Androgyny" was left out. Any insights?

I saw the 20th anniversary show awhile back. It was fantastic. Shirley is really a great performer. I did have to admit it dragged on a little bit though with all the Bsides and just doing the first album. I would have liked to hear a few more songs from the later albums. They did do Cherry Lips and Push It from later albums in the encore.

I am looking forward to their new album in 2016 though and a tour with a more balanced setlist.

FUCKIN LOVE THEM!! Best band ever!! Saw them live back in 13, they rocked! Of course they left out my fave song; Tell Me Where It Hurts, but still. They ROCK! Shirley Manson is a goddess!

I liked the first four albums, but their last album Not Your Kind of People did nothing for me. Actually their fourth album Bleed Like Me is actually my favorite! But I"m hoping the next album will be better.

Not your kind of people is among their best after the first 3 albums! Bleed Like Me was their weakest output! I still love them. They have a unique style of music.

Not for me! I guess everyone has different taste in music.

^ I am the rare one who likes all five albums. However, I find the odd one out to be the poppy Beautiful Garbage. Bleed Like Me and Not Your Kind of People sound similar to the first two to my ears so surprised that each of you dislikes one of those.

Hey Garbage fans, their new single Empty is premiering this week on Thursday.

Here is the press release for the new album. Great read. The new album sounds like it will be amazing.

"“I love dark and dismal,” says Manson, who once made a hit single out of her admission that she was only happy when it rains. “I’m aching for some dark and dismal. Because I feel like the musical landscape of late has been incredibly happy and shiny and poppy. Everybody’s fronting all the time, dancing as fast as they can, smiling as hard as they can, working on their brand. Nobody ever says, ‘Actually, I’m lost and I don’t have a fucking clue what I’m doing with the rest of my life and I’m frightened.’ ”

I could have said that, really. Can't wait for the album!

They're incredible. They're one of the few bands from the 90s to remain consistently interesting since they debuted.

#1 Crush is one of my top favorite songs by anyone. Ever.

They are very strong musicians. Their sound is always fully rounded and sharp and unlike someone like Gwen Stefani who lost her edge with age, Shirley is always gonna be an alternative Queen which keeps me engaged musically and the style.
