Bitch please, u used 2 b cool in the 80's.

For her fierce defense of all things Madonna & her 56 y.o. titties, both in print and on TV.

 Acko, great choices. I voted for Chelsea because of her disgusting behaviour of also going to Madonna's Oscar parties and then trashing her constantly.

Re Boy George, he is quite odd. I have heard him praise Madonna and blame himself but then seems to revert back to type. Sade and Joni Mitchell could be in the hall of fame too.

I think going to someone's party and then telling others you didn't want to go is rude and therefore Chelsea. However, Annie Lennox has been very bitter this year. Beyonce fans have gone after her too, but it's about their performances and career, not a personal dig like Chelsea, so Chelsea is still takes the vote.

The McGovern bit might be largely poor reporting by the Telegraph. I was so puzzled as I read it. Basically they made a "story" out of McGovern saying you should feel sexy in your 50s (like she herself does) without trying to turn back the clock, but it was all based on her disgust with the conical bra from Blond Ambition that Madonna wore "when she was 42." Just a fuck load of garbage and errors, no wonder no one buys newspapers and mags anymore.

and the awards goes to..

Suzanne Vega

"In 1987 the music scene was very different from what it is today. People like Miley, Rihanna get all the attention. What do you think of this hypersexualisation, of this pornification of pop music?

I think it's just business as usual. It is not very different from what Madonna was doing at the time. I think Lady Gaga is different, a bit more intellectual and with more artistic ambitions. Some of these girls are also funny at times, but fundamentally I follow my own route. I am definitely more interested in songstresses such as Laura Marling: I've recently listened to her latest record from start to finish, it's not easy to listen to it but it is a very meditated type of music, poetically and musically interesting and she's got a nice voice.

I also like Lana Del Ray, she's very intriguing. She's playing a character, true, at least not a banal one. It's not about mere sexual imagery but also about story-telling. Taylor Swift is another story-teller with a nice personality. The only substantial difference from the 80s is that there are more women on the music scene."

Omg this was painful to read, especially the side comment regarding gags.

Annie Lennox, hands down. I've gone through my quota of eyerolling for the next 10 years. Sad, fake, hypocritical, self-important artiste who owns her career and 80s success to the other half of Eurythmics as well as to a host of producers as much as any other big named act in the industry of the past 30 years, however musically competent they may be

But yes, keep the condescension levels UP woman

^ I don't know. I just looked up the Annie Lennox thing and it's not so bad in context. She was on a TV panel and she said it wasn't for her to judge and they kept pushing the topic. Anyway, I don't think it's so controversial to say Madonna wants attention. I'd like to think M has a political purpose for doing it, but I bet you she would just say "Why not? I wanted to."

I have a lot of respect for Annie. She's an intelligent woman and has always respectfully questioned the things Madonna does. Maybe she should just bite her tongue, but I like that she speaks her mind, even when she's wrong.

I don't think Annie Lennox shades Madonna at all. I think she finds Madonna intriguing.

She also has been very complimentary if her. And if y'all recall she was so thrilled that M recorded vocals for her 'Sing' charity track a few years back and was very respectful.

I think she has a right to question M's motives. Yes Annie needs to be less up her own ass but she is no M hater. Quite the opposite.

So she's up her own ass yet she's accusing Madonna of wanting attention and she's getting the attention vicariously through her by talking about her. Makes no sense  Oh I forgot, she didn't talk about her, "she was asked" by a panel of TV hens :rotfl:

Instead of saying nice things only when she's doing a charity song with her, Annie needs to know and admit her place in the history of music and that's nowhere near Madonna. For 5 of Annie greatest songs Madonna has 20 of them. And I'm not talking about charts. I think Acko summed it up best:

Overall humorless cunt denies women's rights 2 owning their sexuality in a typical patriarchal fashion disguising her comments as feminism.

Of course she's entitled to her opinion

That's not the point though

My instincts tell me to go w/ Ariel Pink but since I don't know who the hell that is I'll go w/ Chelsea handler I guess

I would go with Ariel Pink because talking bs about her music is intolerable to me. I don't know who Julie Burchill is either. It is pretty rude to actually go to someone's party and then talk negatively about them later but most of the others just get a whatever from me like they have for years. I don't care about silly remarks of Madonna having to change her personality to suit everyone else which is what I believe they think she should do.
