Can we officially say that Madonna writes the best bridges ever?

EVIDENCE NUMBER ONE:

Drop your weapons, you'd better come clean

I've got you covered, I'll catch you when you fall to me

I'm not gonna hurt you, 'cause I'm not that kind

We're not goin' nowhere 'till you have a change of mind

EVIDENCE NUMBER TWO

Don't be afraid to fall

I'll hear you when you call

And I'll be right here by your side

Don't be afraid to try

EVIDENCE NUMBER THREE

I can't keep on waiting for you

I know that you're still hesitating

Don't cry for me

'cause I'll find my way

you'll wake up one day

but it'll be too late

EVIDENCE NUMBER FOUR

In the blink of an eye everything could change

Say hello to your life, now you're living

This is it from now on

It's a brand new day

It was time to wake up from this dream (from this dream)

The list is endless... POST YOURS!

Long time ago i thought that it was because Stephen Bray was such a great songwriter, but it's pretty clear that those bridges were from Madonna's magic.

Live out your fantasy here with me....

I've had to work much harder than this...

Don't cry for me, cos I'll find my way...

Ugh there's so many

Yes, and that Deeper and Deeper one is maybe her finest, as Loomer has reminded

Someone said that romance was dead
And I believed it instead of remembering
What my mama told me
Let my father mold me
Then you tried to hold me
You remind me what they said
This feeling inside
I can't explain
But my love is alive
And I'm never gonna hide it again

Nothing takes the past away

Like the future

Nothing makes the darkness go

Like the light

You're shelter from the storm

Give me comfort in your arms

If I ran away, I'd never have the strength

To go very far

How would they hear the beating of my heart

Will it grow cold

The secret that I hide, will I grow old

How will they hear

When will they learn

How will they know

I love the Madonna songs that are self empowering. It's not even that the lyrics are great, I mean they are but it's her delivery of them that makes this special for me. This bridge from Beat goes on, is one of my favorites.

Say what you like, do what you feel
You know exactly who you are
The time is right now
You got to decide
Stand in the back or be the star

and I dont know which one is the bridge from Can't stop but these are both good:

Don't be afraid to try

Just let me love you for a while
You'll see, what it's all about
Oh baby I can't clear you out

So shut me out, I'll never let go
'Cause I can work a spell on your soul
I play the fool but it won't last for long
Oh no, 'cause baby I'm too strong, can't stop

I always thought cant stop was one of the greatest Madonna songs and lyrics. I know it isn't popular. Also the clunky, awkward Stephan Bray production sounds so dated. I really wish something were done with this song. It would be great if it were remixed and updated

It really doesn't get any better, as far as bridges go, then Deeper and Deeper's

However, these come pretty close: (and yes, she writes them better than anyone)

Finally I seek a different man

Only love can hurt like this can

Finally I seek a different face

Tell me who is going to take my place

Friends, they tried to warn me about you
He has good manners, he's so romantic

But he'll only make you blue

How can I explain to them?

How will they know?

I'm in love with your words

Your words

Love is understanding

It's hard to believe life can be so demanding

I'm sending out an SOS

Stop me from drowning, baby

I'll do the rest :dramatic:

You can't stop me now

'Cause I'm right and I'm making advances

Let me show you how

Tonight I'll be taking my chances on you

I think it takes a special kind of a talent to write an effective bridge. She definitely has it! (Alanis is a bridge queen too)

White Heat's bridge is awesome!

Further evidence:

Love is understanding

It's hard to believe life can be so demanding

I'm sending out an S.O.S.

Stop me from drowning baby I'll do the rest

Edit: Bill, we are so alike. :dramatic:

I hope you find what you're looking for
Is it mine, walk through that door
We're wasting time, make up your mind
And get into the groove

Then we can keep our love alive
And when it falls we won't let it die
It doesn't matter if you win or lose
It's how you play the game so get into the groove

I hope you find what you're looking for
Is it mine, walk through that door
We're wasting time, make up your mind
And get into the groove

Isn't it, 'Oh baby I can turn you out?' -either way, I agree, it's genius! (and that first bit is the bridge)

Beauty's where you find it

Not just where you bump and grind it

Soul is in the musical

That's where I feel so beautiful

Magical, life's a ball

So get up on the dance floor

Oh you are right. my bad. I just goggled the lyrics and copied & pasted them, so whatever site I got 'em from, they were wrong. Lots of errors on lyric websites. For example. alot of websites always get the lyrics from IFU wrong. Another one of my favorite bridges is from "I fucked up" I love the lyrics but also the sudden tempo change, it's genius.

We 'coulda bought a house with a swimming pool,

Filled it up with Warhols, it would be so cool,

'Coulda gone riding stallions in the country side,

With a pack of great danes, racing eye to eye,

We 'coulda toured the world in a private jet,

Run naked on the beach, all soaking wet,

We 'coulda climbed the mountains,

Seen the perfect sunrise,

Written our names across the sky,

We 'coulda gotten drunk and driven on the Autobahn,

We could 'av got ourselves arrested in St. Germain,

We 'coulda lived life crazy 'til the day we died,

Instead I made you cry,

I always thought the lyrics were:

We 'coulda gotten drunk and driven on the Autobahn,

We could 'av got ourselves arrested and sort it out.

In any event, I love that bridge too.

also thanks for clearing up which one is the bridge, I like both parts though.

OH!!! How could I have forgotten that part!?

Good answer!

I live that bridge in fact I think it makes the song. The Daft Punk-like effect on her voice. I remember before the music album came out reading an article in Rolling Stone about the Music album and she talked about the "singy singy singy" lyrics and I thought WTF!? But when you hear it in the song it actually makes the song. The thing that annoyed me about the Rauhofer remixes is he left that bridge out and that is the best part of the song, IMO.
