I just saw her post on Instagram ( A photo of a naked body weigh tape wrapped across the breasts and crotch ) with a caption " I want to wear this to The Met but Anna said " Not This Year " so am working on my music instead " .

She ain't coming ! :(

At one point, the crowd started screaming "Beyoncé" "Rihanna" trying to outdo each other. I think "Beyonce" won by a hair. Sean Penn with Charize, Johnny Depp, the Beckhams also got loud cheers.

Imagine Madonna posted a video snippet of a new track to Instagram tonight? The only thing that would be equally as explosive as her appearance on the red carpet. :dramatic:

So disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing Madonna at the Met Gala because she is always the main attraction there. Wish she had not even mentioned or hinted at it on instragram as it seems pointless now.

I'm really surprised M didn't show. She really would've upstaged everyone and it really would've been great publicity for the upcoming project. Even if it was just to walk the red carpet and leave straight after

Still trying to figure out why Rihanna is a "star".

Not a fan of Beyoncé either, but I can understand that one. Rihanna? Not so much.

Her and Katy Perry are like the decades massive hit making bland bore fests.

I'm kinda glad she didn't go. The Met Gala has gotten too over-hyped recently, and the theme this year was boring. I want the next big appearance to be as musical guest on SNL or Jimmy Fallon when the first single comes out (hopefully this summer!)

O'h, I'm not glad. Have loved seeing her at the previous ones as she completely owned the red carpet. Madonna has blown the other stars out of the water when she arrived and I was looking forward to her doing it again this time. She can make any theme beautiful, different and interesting. Her choice but disappointing one for her fans who love seeing her.

I think at one point she was planning to go. The insta post looks like she changed her mind

Yes, too bad

When she attends this kind of events she's the one chosen to feature on every front page of the sector's main publications. You'd think they'd choose "the younger stars of today". It does say a lot about Madonna's ongoing relevance at this stage in her life and career. Now pioneering being an A-lister and the most bankable celebrity with massive mainstream commercial appeal at 50+

I really loved that look. She's still got it.

Agree. I remember a few years ago, I saw Liz Rosenberg & M's bodyguard scouting the place so I was sure she would show but she didn't. And when she does she's always the last to arrive. So I think sometimes she intends to go but decides not to. Btw, her house is only a 5-minute walk from the Met so I passed by there after (around 9pm) and most of the lights were already off. Maybe she wasn't even in the city, maybe still in the Hamptons.
