Avicii is at the top of his game at the moment. He's young, up and coming and his records are topping the charts. This is absolutely the right time for her to be working with him. Not earlier, and not later.

Some "fans" need to wake up and smell the coffee. Stuart Price wasn't exactly an unknown underground producer when she did Confessions on a Dance Floor with him. Shep Pettibone had remixed Janet fucking Jackson before he started working with Madonna. Let's get that straight. Patrick Leonard was hardly the hippest or most happening underground songwriter producer.

Mirwais had already released Production before she did Music with him, containing a track that later on went on to be featured on Music (RECYCLEDONNA :wow: ) - again, hardly an unknown producer.

The only major mis-step in terms of her timing was Timbaland, because he was already on his way out when she did Hard Candy with him, and Pharrell's a bit of an industry whore so yes he had worked with everyone before her, whatever.

Some of you think she's a 19-year-old going to underground clubs in Berlin, popping pills and listening to weird industrial music and wanting to incorporate it into her records, but the truth of the matter is that in her 30-year recording career she was never that to begin with. GET OVER IT and stop projecting what you want her to do on to her. She doesn't give a SHIT what you all want from her; all that matters to her is to make the kind of music SHE wants to make.

So some of y'all should fucking shut your traps and know your facts before you speak!

 READ IT YOU DUMBASS FAGS!

For those of you dismissing Avicii as a generic DJ, clearly you haven't heard his amazing re-interpretation of Antony & The Johnsons fantastic track "Hope There's Someone" from their 2005 album I am a Bird Now:

Avicii version:

Uhm, okay.

I just want good singles choices at this point.

I was thinking the other day what if she release an album filled with songs that sounds like her remixes (obviously the best ones). She's been doing electropop for years but not really EDM but then Dash Berlin came into my head, so Avicii doesn't sound crazy to me at all.

She's a trend setter and I believe something's big is coming. Trance, house, by the biggest pop star? Who knows. ;)

I'm excited.

Like your thinking.

I want her to go hard!! And release those songs as singles. Don't play it safe.

So i just finished reading this whole topic and i'm glad to see more positivity! I'm sorry but i don't understand why some people seem to think Avicii is the pure definition of generic, for me he definitively isn't. Songs like Wake Me Up or Hey Brother are NOT generic. I'm not even a huge fan of him but he's certainly more respectable than REAL generic producers like David Guetta. And that re-interpretation of Hope There's Someone is amazing :wow:

A collaboration between him and Madonna could be something REALLY great. I have faith in Madonna, i'm sure she will come up with more amazing music. And i agree with you Kurt420, people need to stop dismissing her input in her music, including die-hard fans. If she was a cheater just buying songwriting credits, it would have been revealed a LONG time ago.

David Guetta (bearded) is whatever, Avicii (in the flannel shirt) is cool, BUT if we're talkin' DanceDonna, M should've worked with the man to her right. Xavier De Rosnay of JUSTICE is life! I can use some more hard, grinding French electro in my life.

He's probably not who 90% of us would have chosen (even those defending the decision in this thread), but I have a feeling he'll be quite respectful of her, which is a good thing. It's a bit of a Solveig decision -it could go either way, and hopefully it will go better than that. Ultimately it will depend on Madonna's input.

Absolutely. Solveig's GMAYL didn't sound like everything he did before. It pretty much depends on M.

How would you classify Katy Perry? Lorde? Or past artists like Debbie Gibson? It's not dance. it's not rock. It's not R&B. It's pop!

Also, True Blue is pure pop.

Pop is not a genre which you've just proved by posting mentions of 'pop albums' which don't share a sonic identity. I think what you're essentially saying is music which is mainstream or commercially viable which is what pop stands for. Pop. Popular. So at one point Nirvana was more pop than Michael Jackson and yet in no way was their work comparable.

Pop is most certainly a genre. Both Billboard and iTunes have charts dedicated to it.

You're one of those people who believe something because you google it. Explains a lot. Try learning the history of the commercialisation of music and the division of sonic identities into genres and followings. Then come back and repeat what you said.

Good post! But for me the reason Timbaland and Pharell didn't work on HC so well is not because they were on their way out or industry whores, but because for me R&B/hip hop and Madonna just don't meld well together. Now maybe I'm biased because I don't like hip hop, but I just don't feel hip hop producers with Madonna can ever work. I"ve never been a believer in the theory that whether something is good is dependent on timing and whether something is in or behind the times. Good music is good music no matter the time. I just feel that Madonna is at her heart a dance and club artist and loves dj's so I feel Avicii has a lot of potential because of that and he also uses acoustic guitars which she has used in the past to great effect so I think this collaboration has great potential whether it's for one song or a whole album.

But at the same time. I love indie and rock but I don't think that melds well with Madonna either. I don't hate everything on HC, but the better songs had a dance element to them or ballads like Devil. What's wrong with not liking hip hop? You can't like everything. I have an opinion and likes and dislikes so shoot me everyone. But I don't Give A like Madonna says!

Andre Betts was a hip hop producer, and he produced a chunk of Erotica, as well as The Beast Within. Just sayin. Now that I think about it, he's a very unspoken about producer of hers, who did really amazing work with her. #andrerules

I haven't proven anything. I mentioned one pop album, True Blue. The MUSIC on that album is pop music. What else would you call it? It's not dance music. It's not R&B. It's not rock. It's not country. It's pop, pure and simple. You completely ignored my questions. What genre is Katy Perry's "Roar"? What is Lorde's music? It's pop. Yes, yes, yes, "popular music" encompasses anything that is popular at any given time. But "pop music" is something different. It's a genre, whether you like it or not.

I'm excited that Madonnas is releasing new music. Let's face it she doesn't have to do anything anymore - so she must want to make music and we should trust her! She knows what she's doing!

As for releasing music in the future. I expect something similar to what U2 are doing. Releasing single songs and eventually an album. She may test the market response to single songs before completing the album.

As for Avicii - I love his music and feel it has more depth than a lot of people give it credit for.

I'm happy- and think we should all be! New Madonnas music is coming!!!!!!!!!

I'm not excited about it because personally I think his music already sounds "dated." I'm happy that she is working on new music though and I'm sure I will enjoy it regardless considering she usually incorporates her touch to whatever she does. Can we be certain that we will definitely get a new album by the end of the year?
