A reminder : A year ago in Madonna's speech in St Petersburg

Since Nick Symmonds is the only athlete at the 2013 championships in Moscow who talked about LGBT rights and anti gay laws in Russia and NO media is talking about this we should put pressure on russian government before the Olympic games there. Let's remember Madonna's words on the subject on stage in St Petersburg in august 2012. Let's spread her words on our Facebook pages and protest this infamy ! Let's not forget how LGBT people in Russia are beaten, harassed and discriminated for being gay, lesbian, bi or transgender. Let's support them !

Long live the Queen! It takes a brave person to be THE queen and to speak out when she is IN the country (and could GET ARRESTED) rather than be a looser and speak out when 1) u re far away from Russia safe in USA 2) u need to advertise your new lp/single and u have to stimulate the fags to buy them....

That speech was amazing! Long live the Queen! I am so proud to be a Madonna fan! 30 years after she came out, she STILL stands for the same thing she did back in 82! She could easily sit back and enjoy her legacy and release a dozen Greatest Hits annually but she's still there grinding

That's not bad, nor is it cowardly but 1) what is that accent? she's in russia, not from there and b) she's not actually saying anything about gay rights which is what she would have been arrested for.

Didn't the U.S. state department issue a warning to U.S. citizens to be careful in case they would attend the show?

Yup so did the British Embassy

Sorry, this video says Moscow. She could have said everything in Moscow back then without having feared to be arrested or punshed in any way. The law was only introduced in St. Petersburg in 2012. It became law all over Russia in 2013.

TRUE!!! She couldnt have been jailed/fined if she was promoting gay rights in MOSCOW. Also she was THANKING Medvediev when she was in Russia.

You didn't specify that in your post, you just said Russia. And also, is it really that big of a difference? They both in the same country?
