2016 Presidential Election Thread

I feel like Bernie would be the perfect follow up to Obama as well, because I feel Obama laid the groundwork on many issues that sadly he wasn't able to go 100% on in some cases, but Bernie would be the perfect follow up to come in and really work hard to build on that ground work. He would be the cake to Obama's icing.

Well then.

I have to admit, as lovely as it has been seeing Trump completely Godzilla his way through the GOP, I'm worried about Hillarious and all the Clinton drama

The republican debate was sometimes insane and interesting too! It has been fascinating to witness Trump ignite a civil war within the conservative base with all the different fractions and famous pundits publicly vilifying each other. He still won't win against a democratic candidate, but he seems not to care anyway. He's an attention whore!!

Fiorina comes across as cold and almost creepy, but maybe not as sleazy as Cruz. Huckabee should have been born a hundred years with his very religious and outdated viewpoints on abortion and LGBT. :ugh:

A civil war? I wish this were a civil war. The Democratic and Republican parties desperately need a civil war. This is just the republican party not knowing how to handle the fact that their ideologies are not only outdated, but conflict with their younger constituent's own ideologies. We all saw this coming, we just didn't know how it would manifest itself. I honestly never thought they'd show up to the primary debates with Donald Trump, the former CEO of HP, Jeb fucking Bush, and some other self-entitled assholes...

I know some of you are laughing and see this as hilarious, but honestly, all this means is that our generation is basically screwed. Nothing is going to change in the short-term. It's going to be another 4-8 years of the same old shit. Even if things start to turn around somewhere in the near future, by the time we actually start seeing improvements some of us will be what? 45? 50?

Carly gave Donald a dressing down for criticizing her face. He didn't know what to say. I don't like her politics but I like anyone who can put Donald in their place.

The worst are the super religious ones like Hukabee, Santorum and Jindal. His parents are from India but he's the most anti immigrant candidate.

Everyone makes fun of him, but I like Chris Christie even if I don't agree with his politics. Believe it or not, he's one of the most moderate ones!

Didn't Hillary initially say she was NOT going to run for presidency this time around?

Absolutely and many times! Her blatantly indifferent demeanor shows she is NOT feeling it even w/ it basically being given to her. Couldnt be more apparent she had NO choice. She wanted the hell out it all after 2012. She's running an atrocious campaign. I (like many here was *all for her in 2007) but she's beyond tired and painful to watch now. 2004 and 2007 were her time. It's passed. I def. think she's beatable. The Dems better have a super plan B like...now! I have a feeling they're on it 24/7 right now and many people aren't sleeping for days.

I really like Bernie Sanders but he is not a general election candidate in any way. He's getting Warrens votes- simple as that. I'm meh about Biden but would def. prefer a younger, flamboyant, smart, mega successful biz. man like Marc Cuban or the like. There's not much time but if someone comes out of the woodwork in the next month or two it could def. happen.

Again, as recently as 2011-2013 (w/ that long hippy, un kept hair) Hilary was already checking the hell out and consistently saying in every friggin interview she was NOT running for president in 2016 lol!

Maybe Biden will really jump in if it looks like Hilary can lose. Everybody was saying that she will definitely be the democratic nominee, but the media is making it seem more doubtful now.

It would be interesting to watch Biden debate Trump down the line. lol

Everyone I know that sees Donald Trump says the same thing. How on Earth has he got this far ? He is painful to watch, is sexist, racist and obnoxious. I thought he was only doing it as a way of attention seeking as he is so full of himself but judging by the US shows I am watching, he seems to be a front runner. Just staggering to me. I know people are sick to death of overly political correct talk ( I am as well ) but he is too extreme the other way. It would be embarrassing for the USA to have him represent them as their leader.

So what are the chances for this brain surgeon guy.. he sounds amazing on paper, except a Republican? I like when there are strong people from both sides though.

As for the Dems, didn't Obama destroy Hillary anyway and was the deserving leader? She and the Bush's are indeed old news.

And Bernie Sanders sounds brilliant - a better version of the militant socialist we have here as the new Labour (=Democrat) leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Why isn't Bernie a general election candidate in any way? You will see that most Americans share the same views that he does. It's just that our media likes to present him as an outsider instead of stating that most people actually agree with his points.

Hillary is OLD news. She needs to stop trying to make her presidency happen.

I agree. I mean if she got the nom I am voting for her, but even with every move she makes now it just doesn't come off as authentic. Everything just seems calculated with no emotion or soul behind it. Like she is just going through the motions. There is nothing to get excited about.

And this whole "Bernie cant win" thing is nonsense. People said the same thing about Obama. How if he was the nominee and not Hillary the dems would lose the election. People would never vote for a man named Barack Hussein Obama. He doesn't have enough experience....The list goes on. Twice elected by a large majority.

I believe with all my heart that once Bernie's message gets out there more he is going to resonate with so many more people. There is just this groundswell building under him that I can feel. Its tangible.

Tell me about it! ALL Republican candidates are nuts but Carson is not only nut, he's very dangerous too. He doesn't have any political experience, doesn't have any political KNOWLEDGE and he's a religious freak wanting to turn America into a theocracy. He also called Obama a "psychopath" for no real reason (typical right wing projection i guess). He's also a virulent homophobe, which is not surprising, all Republicans are. I mean he thinks people "turn gay" because they go to jail :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I can't stand Donald Trump but even he seems almost normal and moderate compared to Carson.

I really think Bernie would be an amazing choice for President, he has a LOT of good ideas and he's genuine about them. In any case i hope the Democratic candidate will get to the White House no matter what. The Republican party at this point is nothing but a bunch of extreme right wing fascists waiting to destroy America at the first chance they get. It would be a pure disaster for America if any of them would be President at this point, they would bring the country back to the 50's. They would probably appoint new judges at the Supreme Court too.

Ben Carson proves that all the book smarts at times cant buy you a lick of common sense.

The only one that seems semi okay (for a republican) is that Kasich guy or whatever the hell his name is. At least during the last debate he said he respects gay people and recently went to a friends gay wedding. Shockingly the audience gave him big applause for this.

I am telling you. Maybe its wishful thinking, but there is NO way a republican is going to win the White House. Between republicans attacking Planned Parenthood and possibly shutting down the government again unless its defunded that's going to galvanize many women like crazy to vote. They have alienated black people and latinos. Young people. Gay people. Pretty much anyone that is not middle aged to 1 minuet from death Christian and white. With that being your only block of voters there is no way a win is possible.

BUT we still need to get out there and VOTE!!!!!!!! The fact alone that our next President might pick a handful of supreme court justices is reason enough!

Donald isn't funny at all. He just spews buzzwords that simple-minded folk find hilarious and empowering. He's a TV persona who's spent decades rehearsing and training how to act in front of a camera. He knows exactly what to say and he has great timing. None of that means he's qualified to lead the most powerful and dangerous nation in the world. He reminds me of Lois Griffin when she runs for mayor of her city and just keeps repeating NINE ELEVEN and everyone starts cheering and clapping, he's just louder and more crass.

The only thing funny about this situation is the fact that the Republican party is going through such a terrible midlife crisis that they somehow allowed Donald fucking Trump to take over.
