dollhouse
The thing about the old rockers is that they do more shows, and often break up their tours into legs that go on for multiple years (sometimes). And they can do that because their show is so different than M's. Not saying playing instruments is not hard work, don't get me wrong...but it's just an entirely different discipline to execute night after night compared to a large-scale song and dance show more akin to musical theater (which probably also costs a hell of a lot more to take around the world). It's almost a totally unfair comparison. Considering that the rockers are mostly 'legend' acts performing mostly greatest hits, and that they reach these numbers by going out for a much longer time on the road...it really shows how Madonna can still hold her place in their 'club' of ultimate touring acts while not relying on greatest hits, creating an entirely new show each time from the ground up, executing a show that is purely physical on every level, doing pop/dance music (a genre that usually is catered to only the youth). Who else as a solo artist, as a woman, is doing that...? Even if they rank higher than her on some of the overall charts, I think her accomplishments actually mean more... youre very clever

HolidayGuy
Just noticed the Jay-Z/Timberlake stat. Of course, Madge's ticket prices were higher- the power of the dollar, when her capacity was 9,258 less than theirs. I forgot that some of the MDNA Tour would be represented on the 2013 year-end chart.

Cindystime
Madonna's Yankee Stadium numbers would have been at least 5,000 higher had there not been a hurricane at the second show.
XXL
Just noticed the Jay-Z/Timberlake stat. Of course, Madge's ticket prices were higher - the power of the dollar When her capacity was 9,258 less than theirs LOL It's not true that she managed to outgross them despite 9k people less in attendance simply because she has higher prices You forget there's TWO fan bases combined: Justin Timberlake's and Jay Z's. The Madonna concert wasn't about the combination of two different acts, equal in starpower. It was about: Madonna. Had they had a show by themselves, individually, at the same venue, Yankee stadium of all places, they just wouldn't have gotten to their attendance figure or Madonna's 79k figure for that matter, even if their tickets hypothetically cost a third of MDNA's tickets Jay Z and Justin Timberlake are not touring acts that can sell out a stadium on their own name by having an individual gig, let alone selling out multiple stadium or open air venues on both sides of the Atlantic, not yet for sure
