Billboard Boxscore Thread: MDNA Tour grosses $232.9 million so far

What he's saying makes a lot of sense truth be told. He is right about Yankee Stadium. The field is extremely small. There's an entire section of it that can't even be touched (baseball diamond). I was there twice. And if he is right about the 40,000 capacity... then it just makes it even more amazing that Madonna filled it to the brim twice and she's going to have even MORE love from NYC at MSG. She could be playing to over 115,000 people in NYC when all is said and done.

If she did 29,000 for Nice then she did 29,000. Whatever. Gaga bombed there. Perhaps the market for concerts is just crap there.

And HolidayGuy is not ridiculous enough to create an alias

Well obviously I know that darling, I was just joking :1251:

I mantain all the rest though ..... I can't see how 4 years ago there were supposedly 13,000 people more in that stadium compared to this year's figure, considering that (being physically there) the stadium looked visibly packed to capacity. Besides, in regards to the Yankee gigs, weren't u the one saying in the NY thread, a few weeks before the event's date, that they had sold 60,000 for the first Yankee gig alone? Yes if I remember well, you said that.

Surely for people who didn't attend the show and were curious to check they should be able to see this 13,000 difference in the available pics/footage, no?

I did say that. I was happy to say it. It's on her tour wiki, which is where I got it from. And believe me, I wanted that to be the truth, but take a quick look at the wiki reference source for it, and you can tell that the source is crap, look at how it's worded: http://www.thenation...ell-out-fast.

Whoever edits Madonna's MDNA Tour wiki obviously spun that quote to mean something that it does not.

So oh well.

Anyway as for France... it's absolutely possible that 13,000 less people went to Nice this time around. Your picture doesn't show the cheaper sections and those are ALWAYS the sections that seem to be the emptiest/slowest to sell.

And let's face it, a hell of a lot less people went to see her in Europe in general this time, not just Nice. None of the dates there did badly, but the tallies were certainly not as "rampant" as '08/'09 - which I think is understandable really, considering the circumstances in Europe financially, the saturation of the market on Madonna's part, and the relative disappointment of MDNA on a commerical level.

So, just to recap...

MDNA Tour has done:

$172.4 million from 49 shows reported (thus far). 1,326,471 people have attended so far (per Boxscore reports).

She has already played to more people than she did on Confessions (1,209,618) or Re-Invention (897,214). She'll pass the Confessions Tour gross in about $23 million more...so probably around the Houston shows.

:rotfl: but if I am telling you it was packed ....I was there, saw it with my eyes. Ask GU or anyone else that went to the Nice show: the stadium was packed, I didn't say the field was packed LOL, the stadium was. It's just not possible 13,000 people less compared to 2008, there would have had to be a hole somewhere and no one saw any hole among the crowd but whatever.

You don't understand one important thing about BB Boxscore figures: they don't represent the number of people that actually walked through the venue's doors but rather a figure of expected attendance set up by the promoter before tickets go on sale and if that is crossed it is considered a sell-out. It doesn't obviously mean that actually more people might attend the show.

$489,708 with 8,705 people in attendance.

Could you imagine Madonna pulling those lackluster numbers, to say the least? It is kind of like really??

Not sure if anyone mentioned Gaga numbers in Tallinn? 16,191 at the Songs Festival Ground compared to M's S&S at 72,067 at the same venue. Not MDNA related but worth comparing as I understand it is an open venue which does not limit capacity to 16k?

I thought this number was astonishing. What a bomb for gaga. The difference is incredible.

when did she announce the second leg of sticky and sweet?

wasnt it the last month of the tour (december) or was it january?

she waited on the 2nd leg for her kids to get out for summer

The NY Post was the first to mention a second leg on January 2, 2009.

Madonna.com made the official announcement on January 27, 2009.

The only possible way I can see an MDNA 2.0 is if her next film project falls through or can't be started for awhile. I don't know if she would start a new album so soon, but hey, that would be awesome too.

That was such a flop but no mention in the press. She had like 3 shows in the recently released BB numbers that were between the $400-600k range.

Lady Gaga, Lady Starlight, The Darkness

That's less than 10k people per show. Wasn't the press giving M a hard time because last time she had like 85k people at her show & this time she had like half or so? Whatever she had, it was more than LG.

Madonna should do an Asian leg after taking a couple months off after December. If she wanted to, she could break her S&ST record.

If I'm not mistaken M doesnt really take that long to "record" the album does she, she's probably already started writing, or drafting ideas together already! Imagine the inspiration shes gotten from this tour

from what I understand, she comes in with ideas, throws the ball around for a couple of months, then puts down proper demos and finalises. But it takes a while for a coherent sound to come together, and then she'll make the older demos she likes work with the final sound. MDNA only seems to have had a couple of tracks redone to fit that final idea before it was put on sale, if you note the late rework of Bang Bang, the final addition of Best Friend etc.
