Ah I still can't believe Elizabeth is gone. It's so funny that she never wanted to do Cleopatra to begin with and demanded a million dollars in hopes she wouldn't be cast.

She even wore Liz Taylor earrings for the performance ! How cool is that ??

To get the picture of the Madonna look at the halftime show last night complete, stylist B Akerlund shared the latest missing bits.

As you know all Madonna costumes were designed by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Haute Couture.

The headpiece was designed by Philip Treacy for Givenchy, and Madonna also wore boots by Miu Miu.

Madonna also had a deeper connection with the original Hollywood Cleopatra wearing diamond earrings that once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor and were purchased from the jeweler Marina Bulgari from the late actress' recent auction.

Last but not least, designer Rami Kashou of Project Runway fame created the Roman-Egyptian costumes for the centurions and the nymphs that made way to the Queen during the show opening, and as already reported Jeremy Scott was also on board with the white tracksuits from his Adidas Originals Spring 2012 collection.

RECORDSBREAKERDONNA :inlove:

Just to be more exact on those (sports) stats:

"Madonna's performance during the Super Bowl's halftime show saw an average of 8,000 Tweets per second for five minutes."

"The highest Tweets per second #SuperBowl peak came at the end of the game: 12,233. 2nd highest was during Madonna's performance: 10,245."

@ Twitter official channel

The premiere of Japanese movie “Castles In The Sky” set the all-time record in December for tweets per second, at 25,088.

....

The performance was a Twitter smash hit

Unfortunately the 2012 Super Bowl did not break any ratings records. However, Madonna's half time gig got higher ratings than the game...

Super Bowl 2012: Madonna Does A Higher Rating Than The Game

by Matt Verderame

Madonna is apparently still quite popular. The past sensation out-rated the Super Bowl, as her halftime performance generated a 48.3 rating compared to a 47.8 for the game according to reports from John Ourand.

Despite two very large market teams being involved in the affair, Super Bowl couldn't break its own ratings record which was set just last year by Green Bay and Pittsburgh.

Part of that is undoubtedly the very nice weather that the East has seen this year. With a normally bitter time of year upon us, people are much more likely to stay inside and look forward to the game.

It's truly amazing that Madonna is still as popular as she is. Many people were annoyed that the NFL was bringing in another older superstar to perform the halftime show, but clearly they made the right decision.

This Super Bowl did outdraw the previous match-up between these two teams as the 2007 game did a 43.1 rating.

I think we are all guilty of underestimating Madonna's appeal sometimes, especially when she has been away from music for a while. She is an icon unmatched in the world at the moment.

The halftime performance by Madonna (8-8:30), earned a 48.1/72 overnight, one percent ahead of last year’s 8-8:30 time period featuring the Black Eyed Peas (47.4/70) and 20 percent higher than NBC’s last Super Bowl with Bruce Springsteen (40.2/62).The post-game (10-10:15) registered a 35.3/54, 17 percent higher than last year’s 30.3 for Super Bowl XLV in Fox.
