YAY

I used to dance to that all the time as a limp-wristed little 7-year-old.

I even made up my own You Can Dance Tour 1988 with my little tape player. The setlist included "Can't Stop" and "Ain't No Big Deal" :lmao:

I applaud your honesty. :lmao:

God I was such a gay child. I used to type my 'setlists' on dad's typewriter and then make a mix-tape of it. Then every afternoon after homework I'd 'rehearse'. Of course all my choreography was inspired by the Who's That Girl Tour :lmao:

Keep it Together Tour 1989 was REALLY EDGY though. :lmao:

Your poor parents. :lmao:

Did you have a headset? This is ESSENTIAL for any young aspiring gay.

Well the Keep it Together and You Can Dance Tours were pre-BAT so no headset.. but I didn't really do hairbrush mic.. I was always more a fan of deodorant stick mics.

And yes I agree, my POOR PARENTS indeed.. mum still blames herself for buying me True Blue in 1986. :lmao:

Celebrated writer Andrew Holleran once said, “If you love music, you may find yourself in the curious position of following a young man not because he is sexually interesting (or even sexually possible) but because the radio he carries is playing ‘Do or Die.’ ”

An astute remark from a gay man who understands the stimulating, unifying effects great music can have on its listeners. But what makes an album great? And perhaps even more critical for this list, what makes a great album gay?

To create our list of the 100 Greatest, Gayest Albums of All Time, we polled more than 100 actors, comedians, musicians, writers, critics, performance artists, label reps, and DJs, asking each to list the 10 albums that left the most indelible impressions on their lives. After receiving responses from Boy George, Rufus Wainwright, Cyndi Lauper, the Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray, Candis Cayne, Perez Hilton, Nate Berkus, Jake Shears, John Cameron Mitchell, Wilson Cruz, Justin Bond, Darren Hayes, Junior Vasquez, Bruce Vilanch, Janis Ian, the Cliks, Ari Gold, Holly Johnson, and a slew of others, we tallied the results to determine our top-100 list.

You’ll notice we expanded the catalog to include not only records by queer musicians but also any records that have had relevance to those voting. While albums by Elton John, k.d. lang, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, and Ani DiFranco appeared time and again on the lists, many celebrities included what they consider gay masterpieces by mostly straight acts like ABBA, Donna Summer, and, of course, Madonna.

So here they are: the seminal, flamboyant, trailblazing, gender-bending, campy, theatrical, audacious, unforgettable albums that changed our lives.

Yes, from last year (I did some mergin')- they surveyed a number of notable gay celebrities (or ones who are very gay-friendly), and this was the list they came up with. An album doesn't necessarily have to be "gay"- I reckon most of these aren't.

Not gay enough clearly. How dare you not own any Smiths albums. I was hoping they'd turn up on your top 100, but thought it'd be a longshot.

I think I will give them a shot one day, but I hate Moz's solo stuff which has really probably kept me from checking them out, although I hear they shit over his solo music.

I thought that, too, but there's gotta be some reasoning behind it. Why are The Smiths albums?

And, yay for TIC being the most ACCLAIMED gay Madonna album on the list. <img src="http://forums.madonnanation.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/vogue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":vogue:" border="0" alt="vogue.gif" />

I know this thread is like 2898298789826383637 years old, but The Smiths have a big gay fanbase and songs about boys touching each other and the like. But why the fuck is Confessions not higher and that stupid list?! Ultra gay.
