The HYPE surrounding the book was EVERYTHING & EVERYWHERE. Today, she's huge & a respected 'Icon' or whatever

but I think a lot of people have 4gotten just how powerful an entity she was..compare it 2 the popstars

by 2days standards, they're just laughable..No one in music today would b capable of orchestrating sucha coup :dramatic:

My favourite quote was right b4 the book was released, some finacial dickhead on CNN:

'We're in the middle of an economic recession who the hell is gonna buy a book at $50 a piece.' :lmao:

Are any country's more valuable than any other country's or are they all worth roughly the same? I suppose English ones have a wider potential audience?

I dunno, in theory it would be the edition with the least copies printed...but then I think it's all about the U.S' 1st numbered edition, no?.

Retro Action, October 21, 1992 : Madonna's Book Tops Charts, Coffee Tables

No wonder it's called show business.

Way back in the early '90s — before Kaballah, Guy Ritchie, and scary Linda Hamilton arms — Madonna was making headlines around the world for the release of her revealing tome, Sex.

The coffee table book, featuring the pop icon in various simulated sexual poses, was timed to be released along with her Erotica album.

Despite numerous complaints and negative reviews, the book sold 150,000 copies on its first day. Three days later, all 1.5 million copies of the first edition were sold out across the world.

According to the American Library Association, Sex was the 19th-most challenged book or series in libraries in the 1990s. In Japan, it was banned after just a week of being on sale.

Today, an unopened copy can fetch as much as $120.

Of course it will be. the book in itself is the life of the party whenever I host a get together with friends. Never fails to impress LOL

I do own two , The fist one the US version that I use to show off, Tattered missing back cover and in a sad state due to wear and tear. And the second one the Japanese version in Immaculate state intact Mylar packaging opened on top with box carton still intact also, unfortunately I lost the cd of both books

My only problem with the Jap version of Sex is that all dick shots are censored, must be a cultural thingie. you can show the pussies but not the cocks :lmao:LOL

I love her so much. Does any of you actually get off on S E X...as like Porno material? It's too beautiful in my eyes.

Nope I wanted to with the gorgeous boys and the dead gay pornstar I forgot his name but like M is there and she is such a distracting presence to be able to get off using the images....

Its like your mom is in the room while jacking off :lmao:

  • 2 weeks later...

I've always been a bit disappointed in the book.

I found it underwhelming on the whole.

However when I bought it back in '92 I was suddenly very popular at college with lots of people calling round to see me for a 'coffee' who had rarely bothered to call round and see me before.
