Madonna was originally meant to be in "Goodfellas" with Tom Cruise...

although that shitty remake of Diabolique was a guilty pleasure. :fag:

Mmmm hmmm.

Sharon has been in some other decent movies though, Basic Instinct and Casino aren't her ONLY 2 well made films.

Madonna makes me as an audience member very conscious of the fact she’s acting. Sharon Stone has some understanding of the dynamics of the craft. While she often fails at digging further than the surface when she’s playing characters closer to her public self: icy-bitchy, shallow, slut-y and absolute ego you believe her because it doesn’t require her to think on screen as an actress ala Madonna when she’s not playing her own ultimate bitch-ness public visage.

Al don’t forget and I mean don’t ever forget Total Recall!

None of that makes Sharon a better actress. Madonna's biggest problem in film has always been the overwhelming strength of her public persona, or their own projections onto her. People can't get past it, and our lazy, unthinking culture blames it on her lack of talent. I'm not saying she's the greatest actress ever, but she's been sorely underrated in a few gems.

Like what else? Sliver? Catwoman? :lmao:

Seriously tho, I really can't think of any truly noteworthy film she's done, besides the two mentioned above.

Sphere is probably the other stand out for me, good sci fi movie.

Alpha Dog, Broken Flowers, Total Recall. I thought they were all decent. The Quick and the Dead wasn't too bad either.

You liked Sphere? I thought it was boring as fawk. I saw it in the theatre when it came out so maybe I need to check it out again.

Alpha dog was good

Well Sphere wasn't some EPIC MOVIE or anything, but i like dem paranoid sci-fi stuck in space/under the ocean style thrillers where people start seeing things but don't know if it's real ect ect. Mmmm.

Those were decent films, none of them are classics or critical favs...and all are forgettable, except Total Recall...which is love.

When Madonna had her bit role in Girl 6 of course I knew I was looking at Madonna but I also saw an outright performance and nothing that said she was winking at me as an audience member. She was committed to a character which I’m sure she knew quite a few quirky women like the one she played. I say that to say when Madonna doesn’t have the pressure or responsibility of carrying a serious project she’s quite the actress for ensemble work.

Let’s agree to disagree about Stone being the superior actress. Makes no sense to give examples of film roles you either never saw or didn’t think much of when you saw them.

It seems to me that despite Afrolito suggesting it's Madonnas acting that has the problem, what he is actually pointing the finger towards is the audience. It's not that Madonna is a bad actor, it's that the public can't ignore who she is.

I don't think Madonna should be labelled a 'decent' actress, even though I agree with afrolito

that a big part of the problem is our perception, but at the end of the day she's given us

us enough proper stinkers 2 warrant criticism. That being said..people like Sharon Stone, Drew Barrymore

& even Sandra Bullock..have it easier when they're being mediocre..ultimately they are seen as actresses,

it's their profession whereas poor little Nonni's performance is dissected cuz she's a singer who wants to act.

Sharon Stone in 'Gloria' is pure Madonna school of acting.. :lmao:

Can someone American please confirm her New York accent is bad, or am I hearing things :chuckle:

okay it's not the worst scene in the movie but it has naked man butt :fag:

sidenote: & what about Julia Roberts, she may b cute but I really don't c her as an actress with an impressive 'range', which

isn't me saying she sucks..but just an observation. :fag:

What the fuck is going on with that stupid clip? Haha.

An excuse to see man ass – the absolute best is the henchman with the animal print g-string that simply pops off with an adjustment from the side!

I could NEVER be with a man who wore a Thong. :rotfl:

This reminds me of Legally Blonde: "You know a Delta Nu would never sleep with a man who wears a thong! I just liked watching him change the filter..."
