I looked through all of the photos and Mercy is HILARIOUS. Her expressions were making me crack up. She looks like a handful to say the least!

Madonna is such a sweet person. I loved those pics when she appears with Mercy and/or with Lola. Lola is really beautiful and she looks older than 13 but in a really good way. And I loved that pic of Madonna laying the brick. Amazing!!! Madonna rocks!!!

Whenever M is in Malawi.. if i think of her during the day i just want to cry, as corny as that sounds. ive always loved her but now she's like Bono about things, it takes it to a whole new level.

Lourdes is gonna be the most beautiful woman in the world. she looks very proud of her mum.

Madonna looks really great in these last pics and like Lori said she looks young without any make up or very little make up. That also proves that she's a naturally beautiful woman. And Lourdes looks really amazing. She's already looking like a really beautiful lady at only 13. What will she look like at 25? And Lola does seem really proud of her mom. Who wouldn't be?

MALAWI VILLAGERS SERENADE MADONNA

April 9, 2010

Mphandala - Villagers serenaded US pop star Madonna late Thursday at an orphanage she bankrolls that caters for 8 000 orphans in impoverished Malawi.

A local band and a choir sang songs praising Madonna as she visited the centre in Namitete, 50 kilometres from Malawi's administrative capital Lilongwe.

She was accompanied by her biological daughter Lourdes and Mercy 'Chifundo' James, who was adopted by Madonna last year from the poor southern African nation.

Yacinta Chapomba, director of the Consol homes orphanage centre which is financed by Madonna, said the villagers view the pop diva as their mother for constructing the centre which is complete with a 2 000 capacity hall.

"We are grateful to you for your kind gesture," she told Madonna. "The people of this area take you as their mother."

About 8 000 orphans and vulnerable children come to the centre to learn, get fed and clothed. Some old men and women also come here to eat lunch.

Madonna's charity Raising Malawi benefits about 25 000 orphans throughout Malawi, where there are over a million orphans due to parents dying of HIV and Aids.

"I am happy my small contribution has lifted the lives of many," Madonna told the cheering villagers.

"It pains me as a mother to see children suffering because they can't get food or clothes. I want to use what I have to make the world a better place where everyone will enjoy life."

She said she would visit Malawi, calling it "my second home, " twice a year.

Madonna first visited Malawi in 2006 to controversially adopt David Banda, who is now four. She adopted her second Malawian child Mercy, also four, last year.

Madonna, who arrived on Monday to lay the first brick for a $15-million (about R105-million) academy she is building in Malawi, was expected to leave on Friday. - AFP

Are the sunglasses she's wearing MDG?

She could pass out boxes of the left over H&M ones for the orphans.

Wow! Just stunning pics to say the least. Madonna's expressions say it all. People don't even think of her as "giving" and one with a heart of gold when they should. Go Madonna! So proud to call myself a fan!! :inlove:

Madonna leaves Malawi with promises of twice-a-year visits

04/09/2010

Lilongwe, Malawi - Pop diva Madonna, who arrived in Malawi Monday, has left the southern African country with promises of twice-a-year visits.

"Malawi has become my second home," Madonna said Thursday night at a farewell reception organized by members of staff of her Raising Malawi, the charity she set up for her Malawi cause.

"I will be coming here twice every year," she promised.

Madonna first visited Malawi in 2006 during which she adopted a Malawian boy, David Banda, now four.

She adopted her second Malawian child, daughter Mercy Chifundo James - also now four, in 2009.

Contrary to media speculation, there was no reunion of her adopted children with their natural relations.

Madonna's private jet left Kamuzu International Airport at 4.30 am Friday, according to airport sources.

During her visit, she laid the first brick, signaling the commencement of her US$15 million Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.

With renowned American economist, Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, and Ericsson CEO Hanz Ves tburg, Madonna launched 'Connect to Learn', an initiative bank-rolled by the global telecommunication giant, to encourage on-line learning for kids in developing countries.
