Well, I'll take #71 for now considering that this is strictly based on limited exposure the song is even out there unless your a die hard fan. And who knows, it may rise. But the fact it plummeted on ITUNES is not a good sign. I still have hope that it will rebound in the next couple of weeks!!

i am very sure that if WBR makes a one-week banner ad at iTunes for Celebration single, it will go up high again... and the iTunes emailers to their subscribers...

I know I said this in the other thread, too, but I just wanted to point out that Janet is missing from the list. I believe she has 40 Hot 100 entries. (Does Billboard count "Diamonds" as one of hers? I can never remember their rules.)

^Billboard does not count Diamonds.

From Billboard.com; "Chart Beat":

STILL IN VOGUE: Madonna and Whitney Houston arrive on the Billboard Hot 100, upping their already impressive counts for career chart appearances.

With "Celebration," new at No. 71, her 55th entry, Madonna moves within one of Dionne Warwick for second-most Hot 100 hits among women.

At No. 74, "I Look to You" marks Houston's first Hot 100 hit since 2003 and her 38th overall. The bow lifts her past Mary J. Blige into a solo share for 10th-most charted titles among women in the Hot 100's history.

Here is an update look at the women who've made the most Hot 100 visits:

73, Aretha Franklin

56, Dionne Warwick

55, Madonna

53, Connie Francis

48, Brenda Lee

41, Barbra Streisand

40, Mariah Carey

40, Diana Ross

39, Janet Jackson

38, Whitney Houston

37, Mary J. Blige

Among all artists, Madonna ties the Beach Boys for a share of 13th place for most Hot 100 entries. Elvis Presley is the overall leader with 108 Hot 100 appearances.

"I Look to You," the title cut to Houston's album due Aug. 25, also returns her to the Adult Contemporary chart (No. 25) for the first time since 2003. On R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, the R. Kelly-penned ballad pushes 20-19, while the new set's second single, "Million Dollar Bill," co-written by Alicia Keys, claims Hot Shot Debut honors at No. 71.

On the Hot 100, Madonna and Houston had made simultaneous Hot 100 starts twice before. On Aug. 17, 1985, Madonna unveiled the eventual No. 5-peaking "Dress You Up" at No. 36, and Houston debuted at No. 53 with "Saving All My Love for You," which would become her first No. 1.

On Feb. 19, 2000, Madonna arrived at No. 43 with "American Pie," and Houston began at No. 83 with "I Learned From the Best." Again, though Madonna launched at a higher spot, Houston's track would peak higher. The former title reached No. 29, the latter No. 27.

This is quite interesting :-)

The first time it was with two classics (Dress You Up and Saving All My Love For you), the second time with two respectable but no memorable hits (American Pie and Learned From The Best) ... and the third time with two flops??? But of course it's 25 years later ...

Guest Topaz Scorpio

too bad she can't catch up with that Kristine W

Why? There is room for both of them to hit #1. Kristine will likely hit #1 next week (which would be her 14th and tie her for 4th with Mariah) and then be replaced by M the following week, or there may be a 1 week gap between them.

Did this thing debut on Adult Top 40 this week or what? bigham? And what of its position on Dance Radio Airplay? On Mediabase, it's down a few spins at Rhythmic (which includes the dance stations), so it may not have seen upward movement.

from pulse:

Here's how Hot 100 Airplay is shaping up before recurrents are removed w/ 4 days left:

No. 10 - Mariah Carey (+3.1 million)

No. 224 - Kelly Clarkson (+1.0 million)

No. 734 - Madonna (+0.3 million)

so, if i calculated correctly it's BDS airplay should be at 3.1 million with 4 days left.

Wherever it ends up with Wednesday's info, that's what you go by. The difference between Mediabase and BDS comes with play at stations like WKTU (which is not included in Mediabase's QuickCut info).

"Celebration" supposedly moved 7-4 on Dance Radio Airplay; maybe itwill hit Adult Top 40 for the coming week's chart (airplay ending Sunday).

The play at dance stations seems to have stalled (for now?)

Billboard singles reviews:

ARTIST: MADONNA

SINGLE: CELEBRATION (Warner Bros. Records)

madonna-celebration-single.jpg

"Madonna's latest single won't start any new trends, but it does return the singer to her dance-floor roots. "Come join the party ... 'cause everybody wants to party with you," she sings on "Celebration," the title track and one of a reported two new songs on her best-of set that's due September 29. A notable assist comes courtesy of trance DJ/producer Paul Oakenfold, who co-wrote and co-produced the buoyant stomper. He supplies a surging beat that could easily have been lifted from the star's "Confessions on a Dance Floor" period ("Hung Up," "Sorry,") but can be traced even further back to her 1992 hit "Deeper and Deeper." The melody, meanwhile, recalls her last single, "4 Minutes," in its urgency. Consider "Celebration" a score for Madonna's retro-futuristic fan base and a nice bookend to her collection of chart glories."

Do you have a link?

The only place I can find that chart is under the members-only section (which I am a member). So it is a pay-for chart. I couldn't find the link under the free section but perhaps someone else can.

Debuts at 37* on Adult Top 40- her 17th entry since April 1996 (the most for an act).

Not sure about Dance Radio Airplay- it may be unbulleted, if the Mediabase info is anything to go by.
