not even having english as my first language, i was pretty sure for quite a long time that she sang "bring me wrinkles and telephone" instead of "ring, ring, ring, goes the telephone".

When I was 13 and discovered Like a Prayer for the first time (1991), I could not, for the life of me, figure out what she was saying when she sang "Let the choir sing"... I just sang it as I heard it... "Laugh oh quasy".

When my boyfriend and I got together 7 years ago he was singing "Papa don't preach, I'm in troublety". I'm pretty sure he knew troublety isn't a word... I was quick to correct him!

:rotfl:

Madonna sings "Beauty's where you find it" several times in the later half of Vogue, and she sings it very quickly. I could never understand what she was saying so I just sang along "X'cuse me faggot".

And on Future Lovers I used to think she was singing "Gimme evidence of its brilliance".

I really didn't have any idea what she was singing in that same FL line I just used to hum debi-debi-dens topitstrilians thinking, seriously, that it was just her next attempt at wacky lyrics after the " i like to singy, singy, singy... wingy, wingy, wingy" of Impressive Instant :lmao::lmao:

It's kind of reassuring to know that MNationers (many of whom just floor me with the depth and breadth of their Madonna knowledge) can hilariously get her lyrics wrong! Isn't the full knowledge of lyrics a prerequisite in loondom?

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!

There are alot, especially in Vogue, through the years, i finally came to realize what the true lyrics are

I cant think of the Vogue ones, but heres 2 off the top of my head:

in Secret, "Baby back in paradise, never thought..."

And in Justify My Love, "I wanna blow you" instead of "I wanna know you"

I've just been listening to Deeper and Deeper and this is one where I've been unsure of lyrics previously.

I've just realised she's singing: I'm never going to hide it again rather than I'm never going to have it again

That kind of explains why the song is about a young guy dealing with his sexuality. I could never see it before.

:flop:

I'm starting to wonder just many other lyrics I'm singing that are way off?

A friend of mine always thought Madonna was singing in French on Like a Prayer...instead of 'let the choir sing', he thought she sang 'la pour quasi'! Whatever that means!

Since I'm listening to my bootleg Immaculate Collection redux (i.e with all the original versions, edits of Live To Tell and the first album songs, and adding Dress You Up and True Blue and cutting Rescue Me, to be exact :)) I can hear them again.

I just remembered one from Lucky Star which I was just listening to "I just think of you and I start to BLOW". And yes, I thought at one point that song was actually "Lucky Star Bonita" when I didn't know much about her when La Isla was in the charts.

Also in LAV - "My period's fading fast"

Material Girl - "I think they're all GAY"

And I remember at school my mates used to say that she said "laxible" (life's a ball) in "Vogue" - meaning she was loose :chuckle:

And the lyric book of TIC was useless cause it took me ages to figure it was R.E.S.C.U.E. Me in the adlibs.

At first I thought it was:

"Come into the sky,

future lovers right

elevation's high

would you like to try?"

when i heard the first 2 lines of celebration

"i think you wanna come over, yeah i heard it though the grapevine",

i thought she was saying

"i think you wanna come over, get up on you douchebag"

in jump, she sings in the first 2 lines

"there’s only so much you can learn in one place, the more that I wait, the more time that I waste"

i heard it as

"there’s always so much more time that you can waste, the more that I wait, the more time that I waste"

Lol funny board.

4 Minutes:

"Sometimes I think what I need is a human adventure"

White Heat:

" 'Cause my love is dangerous, this isn't pluff" or "this is so tough" :electropop:

Hung up:

"Waiting for your cum baby night and day"

Lucky star:

"You'll be my guy"

Deeper and deeper:

"Daddy couldn't be around"

American Life:

"Three nannies and a sister and..."

Substitute For Love:

"I had so many lover who settled for a friend, and basking in my spotlight..."

My mom sings "At night I lock the door and throw away the key" for ITG.
