aeroco
42k is ok, her sales held up Friday and Saturday which bodes well for another week in the top ten. They have missed out on potentially many digital downloads over the last few weeks. Lets face it, with the amount of physical formats and the digital bundle, she was always assured of a climb high into the top 10 this week regardless. I suppose an entry into the top 3 is good PR, so here's hoping the album does big numbers this week and in the Christmas run up.

markm
She probably could have added another 10k in sales had it not been leaked so early. Most people had downloaded the song illegally by the time it was made officially available. Celebration maybe able to hang on to the top 10 next week with people downloading individual tracks from the GH.
jonski43
I think top 3 is extremely good for a single that hasn't really had much support from Radio 1. I've heard it a couple of times but nothing like previous releases. And the video was late being released too. I must admit, looking at the charts, the single is nothing like anything else in the top 10. It will be interesting to see how the single performs next week assuming most hardcore fans have bought in the first week.

Guest Danny86
Airplay was not high enough in the previous weeks so it would not have been a higher debut. It would have debuted at the bottom half of the top 10 and lingered around the top 20 if it was released closer to the leak date, but the highest peak could not have been achieved on any other week. "She-Wolf" is out on physical tomorrow, wonder if it can overtake Taio Cruz?

Mightycomfort
#3 is good! Other Madonna hits that peaked at #3 are Material Girl, Cherish, Rescue Me, This Used to Be My Playground, Erotica, Don't Cry for Me Argentina, Die Another Day like a virgin too! Ad in x factor was very good. I think dermot oleary the x factor presenter did the VoiceOver on the celebration tv ad.

HolidayGuy
Sales of 41K do top the sales for "Sorry" (though that was a second single from a studio album). Am just playing devil's, cause you know there will be some who will try putting a negative spin on it.it's also truethat repression does not automatically end up with a #1 peak. Did Mimi completely bomb with "Obsessed" in the UK? Was a physical single even reelased? I recall the one appearance at #56 and then out. If so, this is her least successful lead single ever in the UK.
Guest Danny86
There was no physical for Mariah and I believe it never entered the top 50 airplay. I guess they bothered with no promo, after she failed to hit the top 75 on the back of an X-Factor performance last time around. Her new album will be lucky to sell 100k in total. fak
I wonder what QB will say. He predicted it a flop. I wonder if the repressed release means that it coul plummet next week? I dont think Shakira will do much better because the song is not good. Its one of her weakest lead singles.
fak
Ddid nt Mariah have some sort of Love Songs album which did reasonably well because of tthe X Factor performance? She does not have much of a presence in the UK - the UK has always been more pro-Whitney. She is no5 airplay with OMB which she has not even promoted yet. There was no physical for Mariah and I believe it never entered the top 50 airplay. Guest
Actually, this would be Madonna's 62nd UK top ten hit In addition...Celebration is M's 34th top 3 hit and 46th top 5 hit...incredible! Its great, even though i really wanted the single to hit #1 top three is brilliant especially when you see that other chicks like Mariah, Janet and Britney have not had top 3's in ages and even Kylie who's last top 3 was in 2004! The 42k sales are really good as well. Mariah's last album was a collection of ballads/love songs and peaked at #12 in December 2008.
loomer
Actually, this would be Madonna's 62nd UK top ten hit Hmm.. that counts reissues, I think. Personally I wouldn't count those. They didn't use to count in the old chart rules in the Guinness Book Of Hit Singles till they changed them. I wasn't sure how many she had actually, I just took that off Wikipedia's discography page. Carta
Celeb album seems to be doin bad on i-tunes, i'm sure HC was alot higher on the sunday before its release. It was quite low at the Australian iTunes store, but when it was actually released about six hours ago, it zoomed up to #3 (deluxe) and the "regular" edition is #70. HolidayGuy
The first "Holiday" re-entry was the same single (catalog number and all)- but, the 1991 reissues of "Holiday" and CFY were new catalog numbers and such- so I could see counting them as separate releases (they even made their way back on to the airplay chart, didn't they?) For what did Mimi miss the top 75 following X Factor? "I Stay in Love"?
