aeroco
i want man in the mirror to be number 1, just because it´s a brilliant song that surprisingly wasn´t a top ten in the UK back in the day...buta number 2 it´s good enough. Another reason to buy essentials:number 1´s, at least in spain and i bet in the UK is the same, doesn´t include MITM That is true, it has a much more comprehensive track listing inc MITM. I guess Number 1s was more popular initially as it was a much higher profile release. Now buyers are probably looking for something more complete, plus stock is probably better in HMV, supermarkets etc.

HolidayGuy
The UK had one less day of sales following MJ's passing. I don't know if his music will see bigger U.S. sales this week than they did last week (it had that extra day last week).

jonski43
Yes, I wonder if we will see Hard Candy rocket back up the charts after this weekend. I also can't make up my mind if La Roux can sing in tune and Lady GaGa is beginning to annoy me now especially as she is writing about the paparazzi before she was famous. Queen Bitch
None of Madonna's albums are in the HMV sales so I doubt there'll be any chart action on the back of the broadcast or UK dates. One thing the MJ chart action has proved is that video still is the most effective medium for promoting songs with the ones that are being played on the music channels and in news reports doing better than those that don't have videos. It's a shame Madonna doesn't realise this and has let her standards slip of late.

loomer
I believe that's a new peak for Off The Wall. Think it got as high as no 5 before (possibly in the Thriller superstardam era), no 3 was its US chart position.
